We will move up Chelsea's recovery as the #1 celebration in this group!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
In fact, she will get a celebration EVERY NIGHT!:woohoo: :woohoo:
I also sing the Mamma Mia songs (listening right now!), but only when I'm home alone - a request by the family:lmao: :lmao:

Yes! We will all celebrate with you!!!!!!

let me tell you a little story:surfweb: - NONE of us knew each other BEFORE 2005:boat: - the DIS brought us together and kept us together. :grouphug: We met on the Mexico cruise:boat: , and a few us have stayed close friends, visiting each other in all parts of the country.....AND, it is all because of the DISboards!:disrocks: :disrocks: :disrocks: :disrocks:
jlawall (and her daughter Tara), jfis1020 (son Fatphil and hubby Mr. Redlegs), Albill (Alice and Bill, jlawall's parents) and myself (lwilliam - Lucy)-my husband and JoAnn's DH are lurkers.....PLUS, Krista, there are several on this thread that were on the Med cruise together:boat: .....don't know everyone there, since we actually cancelled out of that cruise and have regretted it every day of our lives:sad1:

Good morning everyone! I have a question, who all knows each other from a previous cruise here? It seems like a lot of you were friends before this thread.

Oh, and if you could vote for my DH and I on youtube today that would be great! The contest ends soon, and I'm still hoping to win a trip to DL!

I have voted already, but can I vote again????? I will if I can!

Yes, some have cruised together. jlawall seems to be the common thread. She has cruised with myself and lwilliam but has also cruised the Med. with others here. Just join in the fun! That's how we all got to know each other so well even before our first cruise!

Krista, BEWARE:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: , once you get to know me - Lucy - you can't forget me!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Ok, let me defend myself........

In 2002, I was on my first DCL 7 day cruise. I was so depressed when I got off the ship, I literally cried. So, I went on the Internet looking to get hired by DCL and I searched around and found this webboard. I have been a "regular" ever since. I have asked questions, started threads and met DISers. In 2005, I met a special group on the West Coast Magic cruise. Our thread is STILL going! We ALL said we would book the Med cruise last summer but only two of us eventually went. On that trip another AMAZING bunch posted on our Med thread. That thread is STILL going! Some of us are presently sailing the Repo RIGHT NOW! On this trip, we now have 4 members of the 2005 group and 4 members of the 2007 group. How cool is that? I also think there is another group from a different thread on this cruise as well.

My favorite part of this webboard is the money saving tips and enhancements to our vacations. Another amazing aspect is the friends we have made. This thread has been so much fun so far, it can ONLY GET BETTER AS WE GET CLOSER TO OUR TRIP!!:worship: :worship: :worship:

Hello again, everyone. Thank you for the pixie dust and kindness about DD Chelsea. She's kind of shy , so she groaned when she read the reply about adding her to the celebrations :scared: . She may try to pretend she's with another family :rolleyes1 .

It's so great that some of you have cruised together and kept in touch.

FatPhil32: I'll have you know that as I started typing "Thank you..." that it reminded me of Mamma Mia's, "Thank You For the Music" :rolleyes1 and I am serenading those near and dear with it. I'm warning you, I can find a song for almost any occasion. I like to think of it as a gift.:lmao:

Let me say that John (fatphil), my DS14 thinks that Broadway shows are "dumb", but so are we, his parents, sibblings, our music, etc. Just remember he is 14!

We took Matt to see his first Broadway show around 6 years old. It was Peter Pan. Now this is a kid who couldn't sit through a movie without having to go to the bathroom 2-3 times and "how much longer".... He sat there with his eyes wide open, never moved and he was hooked ever since. He has seen more shows than I can count.

Beauty and the Beast
Lion King
Little Shop of Horrors
Tarzan
Spamalot
Wicked

and most recently Young Frankenstein

I think there are more but I can't think of them right now - I need more coffee.:surfweb:

Thanks for the explanation! I didn't know if you all knew each other through the DIS or through "real life." I'm all caught up now!:)

So, what's everyone doing for Labor Day Weekend???:goodvibes

What am I doing? Right now going crazy - I was called for Jury duty yesterday and was placed on a civil case that is expected to last about 3 weeks. Thankfully, court wasn't in session today. I'm frantically clearing schedules, arranging for subs for my Pilates clients, canceling dr's appointments, hair appointments, etc... And then stocking up on hurricane supplies.... While I don't want Gustav to hit New Orleans, I really don't want either Gustav or the others brewing to hit hit either - they could push this trial longer...sigh...

But, tonight we're going to Rice University's home opener vs Southern Methodist... always a fun time!!!!

Also, from other conversations, we've cruised with Virgil (WVMD) and spent some time this summer at DL with his family and his daughter's fiance Nick (Space Monkey) - other than that - we're also just chatting getting to know everyone on this thread....

Speaking of Nick and Kristin, they live very close to us - finally, John ran into them at the grocery store this week. We were afraid we'd have to travel out of state just to hook up...

Broadway shows family absolutely loves musical theatre! - I have never been to NYC, John has to "attend" a theatre conference and also saw a few shows - but o Living in the Chicago suburbs, we loved going into the city for shows. In Houston, we do get to see the traveling shows and had season tickets with the kids one year - the shows were awesome for the kids' first experience of Broadway touring shows - Jesus Christ Superstar, Little Shop of Horrors, Movin' Out (Billy Joel/Twila Tharpe production), Off the Record (Disney - eh - not worth it) Momma Mia, Phantom of the Opera and Les Miz!!!

Maggie (dd11) loved the stage show of Momma Mia - but, Phantom is still her favorite... Instead of the Original Cast music - I gave her my (really old...) Abba greatest hits tape :lmao: She usually choreographs dances to ABBA music...

Both kids (even Mike - DS almost 14) love theatre. They both have appeared in our production of "Joseph the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and Mike was also the paperboy in "Our Town" His favorite movie musical is "Singing in the Rain" mostly for Donald O'Connor's "Make them Laugh" number.

Me - I've been a dead person in "Our Town" and a nun in "The Sound of Music" - tried to take a vow of silence but, I had to sing - A Capella and Latin was probably the 2nd hardest thing I've ever done - next to sitting motionless "dead" in "Our Town". :lmao: (I think most of my friends and water aerobics class members attended the run of "Our Town" just because they didn't think I could actually sit still that long....:lmao:

You are so right! At that age, just the fact that parents breathe air imbarrasses their kids!:rotfl2:

DH&I are going to see Young Frankenstein on Broadway this Sat. night. Can't wait! We see Mary Poppins in Nov. (my b'day present)

Our DS11 is very musical and loves Broadway shows. We took him to see Mary Poppins and Hairspray in NYC. We saw Lion King in Indy a couple of years ago. We also saw Wicked in Chicago and Jersey Boys in Cincinnati. He loves them all!

Fatphil, on the otherhand, does not like musicals or dancing. He's just wired that way. He and DH like sports, period. Although DH said he'd go back to Jersey Boys again......it's that good!

It appears that we have struck a chord here folks (no pun intended). It seems as if we like musicals for the most part!

Oh and two more to add to the list

Phantom (I really wish we had seen it with Michael Crawford) and Les Mis.

Also the only non-musical play Matt has seen was the Odd Couple with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.

Bless you heart! I feel so bad for everyone who is trying to prepare for the possibility of a hurricane. And to top it off with jury duty.....that stinks!:sad2: I have a colleague who is on his "second tour of jury duty" while I, on the otherhand, have NEVER been called in my 27 years of voting!:confused3 I guess that's one lottery I DON'T want to win!

But, tonight we're going to Rice University's home opener vs Southern Methodist... always a fun time!!!!

Fatphil, DD9 and I are going to the Indiana FB home opener tomorrow against W. Kentucky at noon. From there we will hop in the car and make first pitch for the Reds and S.F. Giants!! More Reds/Giants on Sunday too. We will also catch the WEBN Fireworks show on the Ohio River on Sunday night. It's a HUGE 30 minute show all to music. We might even head up to King's Island for a last swing at the water park this weekend. I always dread this holiday. I love summer!:cheer2:

Any chance you will be downtown for the big show on Sunday, Chip??? The Reds sure stink, don't they????
