Ok, Monica, now I'm a little jealous.................how cool of you to do community theatre.............now that all of my kids are grown up, maybe I should audition (I used to be a stagehand when my kids were in the local shows.)

I don't think I can remember all the shows I've seen on Broadway......let's see.......................(in most recent order)

Spring Awakenings
Little Mermaid
Mary Poppins(2X) w/Lucy & Bob

It's a very little (but good) community theatre that began as a ministry of a local area church - I got roped in because I volunteered John to bail them out on sound for a show (the director was in a class of mine) anyway, in the beginning, I was more of a "desperation actress" as in "Monica we're desperate for someone to play the part of _________________" usually I was props mistress, set crew and anything else deemed necessary. We're kind of taking a break as family - we've reached the phase of life where it just takes too much time to work on 2-3 shows a year...

Oh and two more to add to the list

Phantom (I really wish we had seen it with Michael Crawford) and Les Mis.

Also the only non-musical play Matt has seen was the Odd Couple with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.

The 3 times we saw it - 1st and 2nd tour in Chicago and then the most recent tour a few years ago - we were just blown away by the men who played the Phantom - I'm probably committing some cardinal sin - but, I thought they brought more to the role, and hand more vocal depth than what came across in Michael Crawford's recording. It doesn't help we're not Sarah Brightman fans either -

Les Mis is still my favorite musical...Although Phantom is a close 2nd - we saw the national tour in Chicago of The Secret Garden in the early 90s. I'm also partial to that one - the staging was very unique plus it is my favorite children's book.

Just got back from a week (or 5 days) in Disneyland with a couple of extra days spent in San Diego. We had a great time. Now I'm back on the computer looking for hotels/cars/airfare for our cruise. I got a rental car before and and after the cruise, and I think we'll stay in Cocoa Beach for one night after the cruise and explore Kennedy Space Center. I'm trying for 4 nights on DVC points for DW. The night before the cruise, we'll probably stay in a hotel near the airport. We don't usually get in from the West Coast much before 10:00 p.m.

It took me awhile to catch up on the threads. I guess the last time I read thru here was mid-July. So I checked about every ten or so trying to catch up on the gist of the threads.

How much longer til we sail?

And I left out Hairspray

Okay the current list is

Beauty and the Beast
Lion King
Little Shop of Horrors
Tarzan
Spamalot
Wicked
Young Frankenstein
Phantom
Les Mis
Hairspray
The Odd Couple

and Matt is only 16. I didn't see my first broadway show until I was in high school and we went on a field trip. He's pushing to see either Little Mermaid or Mary Poppins next.

Only 322d:2h:42m:59s until our 10:00AM arrival at the cruise terminal on 07/18/2009.

Bless you heart! I feel so bad for everyone who is trying to prepare for the possibility of a hurricane. And to top it off with jury duty.....that stinks!:sad2: I have a colleague who is on his "second tour of jury duty" while I, on the otherhand, have NEVER been called in my 27 years of voting!:confused3 I guess that's one lottery I DON'T want to win!

Fatphil, DD9 and I are going to the Indiana FB home opener tomorrow against W. Kentucky at noon. From there we will hop in the car and make first pitch for the Reds and S.F. Giants!! More Reds/Giants on Sunday too. We will also catch the WEBN Fireworks show on the Ohio River on Sunday night. It's a HUGE 30 minute show all to music. We might even head up to King's Island for a last swing at the water park this weekend. I always dread this holiday. I love summer!:cheer2:

Any chance you will be downtown for the big show on Sunday, Chip??? The Reds sure stink, don't they????

Yes they stink:scared1:. I am working on Sunday::eek: ,picnic on Monday, :) no time for downtown this weekend:eek: . We do have some tickets for Sept.20th, lets hook up if you guys are going.

Yes, I am sure we'll be there......... Let's hook up closer to time and see!

all our DISers in Houston (and everyone else down south) are safe:grouphug: and please :worship: update all of us how you are doing:confused3 .....right now, this is the most important thing we can be discussing on here:hug: .....no jokes or funnies today, guys, this is serious stuff (I'm a total weather channel watcher) and we'll be thinking of all of you till this storm passes.:flower3:
Bob & Lucy

We're fine - it's a beautiful sunny day ;) Seriously, we are watching it - not that we're glad that it's heading into LA but, it looks to miss us - we still will get strong winds and some rain - it looks like it may do a funky turn once on land - it's all too soon to tell...

I'm hoping it will miss us and keep on moving quickly by - I was assigned to a jury this week and if all goes well it will be about a 3 week trial - I'm desperately hoping that there won't be a postponement due to weather, otherwise it will be longer...

Wow, that's good news.............I noticed the waves at the Jersey shore were rough and high today. I hope our friends on the DCL REPO will get back without trouble.:confused3

Monica,
It doesn't look good for jury duty next week!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
That is NOT important - you and your family and everyone (Space Monkey?) be SAFE!:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
updates, don't forget!:grouphug:

Well, well, well, I guess while I'm asleep another pirate: will go..............see you all on the other side..............................:woohoo: :yay:   :flower3: :scared:
