Hi from DL! Sun crowds were light. It was an early am for us driving up from San diego in time for early entry. With careful planning and ridemax, we were able to ride almost everthing on both parks including Toy story mania, plus a break for swimming. We had a 30 minute wait on Sunday for toy story mania other than that we walked on most rides or had minimal waits. Yesterday and today it's nuts!

We're hoarding fast passes for tonight at both parks. The kids are swimming now. Glad we rode so much on Sunday, there's no pressure to stay on the hot crowded parks.

At one point this am the wait for Tsm was estimated to be about 6 hours. By 1 it was down to 2 1/2..

Wow! Thx for the updates, we love hearing about DL trips!!!:cool1:

another live report while I'm wimping out of TOT yet again. I rode it once on a visit to wdw and that was plenty!

hoarding fast passes has been great we've been able to walk on or bypass the crowds tonight. Sunday, We did the dessert seating with dis friends for the electric light parade yum! Found a great spot for fantasmic with 20 minutes to go. Tonight the fire works.

After hearing all my birthday greetings yesterday, kids are keeping track of dh's greetings he's up to 50! Yes, our birthdays are only a day apart! They should have counted the father's day greetings. I bet there were more.

I think you're doing the right thing, I only rode TOT twice and that was before they added the extra drops.........too scary!!:worried: I'd rather go shopping!

OMG. Tof T is my favorite ride (along with Soarin:)!!! I could keep going on back to back to back:moped: . There for a while the drops were wimpy but the last few times we were there, they were awsome.

Well I guess this explains why you're going "Out West" to hike and whitewater raft this summer! (Actually, I would like to try those things myself:thumbsup2 )

I used to be braver but getting older, I think too much and I don't enjoy the scary rides.............yes, Lucy, doesn't ride them either. ::yes::

Here's an abreviated trip report Since John and I haven't been to DL since '92 and WDW since '04 (me) '99 for everyone else and the kids don't remember much if anything of our WDW visit, we wanted to experience everything we could... I may add more as I think of it.

John's not home to include his answers so he'll have to chime in with his own trip report.

Took advantage of Sunday's early entry. Woke the kids up at 4am to make the drive from San Diego. "Repeat after me - Mom has great ideas..." The kids may not be able to get out of bed early on a school day - but they do wake up early, quickly, and happy for the important stuff Rode everything in Fantasyland except for the train and canal boats by 8:00 Then, walked right on Winnie the Pooh, Pirates, and HM.

The crowds were light on Sunday and by Sunday evening we rode over 90% of the rides in both parks, including time out for checking into the hotel and swimming and meeting DIS friends for the ELP dessert seating and rides post parade.

Monday was horribly crowded - we did Magic Morning in Toon Town complete with the opening ceremony and the whole works - much to Mike's (ds13) dismay. It was my birthday and my plan.... Light crowds, everyone seemed to do the submarine sprint... Continued to hoard fast passes along the way, and headed over to DCA to ride and hoard some more for later in the evening. Fast passes worked great - walked on everything or minimal waits with the fast passes. Worked well to bypass the crowds.

Tuesday we did early entry again and the submarine sprint - only waited about 20 minutes. When we were next in line, a cast member was complaining about a guest who was very angry she was still waiting in line, it was taking too long - wonder what that woman thought later in the day - the crowds were horrible! Anyway, the CM surprised me a bit - I can understand the need to vent just not 2 feet in front of guests...

Post fireworks - did a bunch of fast passes, also jungle cruise. By 11:15 walked right on Pirates. Finished up our trip with Big Thunder at 11:30. Walked out of the park at 11:45

Favorite MK ride:

Mike: Space Mountain, Big Thunder
Maggie: Big Thunder
Monica: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Favorite CA Ride:
Mike: California Screamin'
Maggie: California Screamin'
Monica: Soarin'

I liked the updated pirates and Nemo - they were a good blend of old a new. I didn't like the attic redo in HM (the floating Madame Leona was cool!!!) the computer animated bride wasn't as well done as Buzz's face on the Buzz ride...

Ride in most need of an update: Jungle Cruise - not much of an update just a better sound system or CM need better training on how to present and project through the microphone. The majority of their spiel was lost over the motor and the speakers. (We rode it twice with 2 different cast members...)

The one unanimous "Did not Like" was the swinging gondolas on the ferris wheel. That was just a bizarre feeling! (Barf bags available inside the ride is not a good sign... )

John's biggest disappointment was that he couldn't fit into the side by side configuration of Space Mountain.

We all (even Mike who at times lived up to his Grumpy t-shirt and hat) enjoyed the Pixar play parade and Fantasmic. Pixar - we walked up and again found a curbside spot in the sun with 15 minutes to go - by the time the parade started, the sun was not a factor.

MK Parade - just ok - we happened to catch it right at 6:30 and found a roadside spot on the circle looking into the sun. The sun didn't help but, I'm glad we didn't stake a spot out early.

ELP was awesome! Always my favorite childhood memory and made even more fun with DIS friends and desserts!

Fantasmic, again staked out a front row spot with about 15 minutes to go next to one of the light poles roped off near the center. Small obstruction of the stage but, full view in front of the right most screen.

Fireworks were incredible and worth staking out a spot about 7:30 on our last night

Toy Story Mania was great - we rode during the soft opening on Sunday with about a 30 minute wait (posted time 50 minutes) not worth the 6 hours reported during Tuesday's opening. After TSM, we rode Buzz, no comparison and I was frustrated trying to get my lazer gun to work (I rode it in '04 in WDW and loved it then.

After hearing all of the "Happy FAther's Day" wishes and my birthday wishes on MOnday. The kids started counting John's birthday wishes - he was up to 70ish when they lost count.

OK that ended up being much longer than I intended...

I think we all loved the details! This is what we have to do when we are waiting to go back, live vicariously thru each other's trip reports!!:thumbsup2 It sounds like you just did 3 days in DL? Did you do some stuff in San Diego?

yeah, we spent a week in San Diego and loved it - more on that later...

I probably should add a small detail - dh is 6' 6" which is why he couldn't fit into Space Mountain and the side by side configuration. Ironically, he could fit into Gadget's Go Coaster in Toontown. :lmao: He does fit (or did in '99) into WDW space mountain configuration of a single line of riders. He has a place for his legs.

HOW long a trip report ends up being - I love to read all of them::yes::
(hint-hint-hint - NOW is the point when all of you say to Lucy:rolleyes1 - "we can't wait to read updates while you are in Disney, Lucy, next month":lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: )

As I've told you earlier, I'm a total wimp, BUT, I DID do the Matterhorn when we were in Disney (NO, I don't do space mountain) - my feeling was - I don't know WHEN I'll be back in Disneyland so I'm gonna DO IT!:scared1:
I don't do Space Mountain, ToT, RrC, Big Thunder, my feeling is - oh, well, I'll be back next year.....the one ride I'm DYING to try is Splash MOuntain - I'm waiting until they 'fix' that ride - that I'll be able to get off at the top, before that big drop!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Just bumping us up. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I haven't been around for a while. I'm having trouble with my right eye. It's all blurry and has an orange tint. I've been to the opthalmologist and he can't find anything wrong with it. I'm getting an ultrasound of the carotid artery on Thursday but he "doesn't think that's the problem"? Duh. This is driving me crazy.

Anyway - Disney has put up "more to explore in Tortola" It's not listing excursions but I'm thinking maybe these may be what they're thinking of doing.

Sorry to hear about your eye. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

Thanks for the update on Tortola!

Thx for the tip..........we're almost at one year!!:cool1:

Starwood - wishing you good luck with the eye:hug:

Tortola will be a brand new port for our family, excited about going there:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: BUT, let me be truthful here, I'm just excited about being on that ship - The Magic or The Wonder could sail 7 days to nowhere and I'd be happy:cool1: :boat:

387 Days 23 Hrs 59 Mins 2 Secs

Things had better start turning around here. First my eye, then someone kicked in 3 panels on my PVC fence in the back which I had to repair. Then my lazy susan in my new kitchen broke for the 2nd time and I have to wait for them to replace it today.

It's the last day of school for Matt but the band is playing at graduation tonight. Then he's doing summer music (which starts Friday). Every day 11:30-12:30 with band one night a week.

I'm getting an ultrasound tomorrow but I'm starting to think (after researching on the internet) that this is an optic nerve infection/inflammation. I tried to call the eye doctor today to run this past him but of course he won't be in until tomorrow.

I really can't wait for this cruise. I think since we've been to St. Thomas twice before that we just may stay on the ship or go shopping there. We'll probably find an excursion for Tortola since we've never been there. 2 more months and I can make my DVC ressies for our after cruise stay.

9311 hours, 558714 minutes, 33522820 seconds

Can't we convince you to come BEFORE the cruise, for a DIS meet?::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Bob and I feel the same way about St. Thomas, although our son (will be 17 at time of trip) has NEVER been to St. Thomas.....thinking of taking a cable car up to Mountaintop (they didn't have cable cars when Bob and I were there before, many moons ago)

I also am going thru eye problems - damaged nerves? high pressure in my eyes? oh, well, now that I'm retired at the YOUNG AGE of 54 seems like I've gone to every doctor on the planet!

WOW - your school runs late in the year - what day do your start?
This year we are starting Aug. 25th, my husband's birthday.....

Well, I may just have to go back to St. John when we visit St. Thomas. As much as I love to shop, I think I still have a photo of St. John's Trunk Bay from a visit we had there years ago! I had done the Doubloon Snorkel and Sail which was fun also once. St. John is really beautiful, you can take a ferry across from the port area, then a short taxi ride to Trunk Bay. They have a small place to eat there, restrooms and a small giftshop (at least they did the last time I was there!) It was really nice.

On Tortola, I am thinking about the Baths b/c they are so cool and near there. There's also a dockside restaurant we've been to which is really good. Just one year to go ................

Hey guys, hope everything is well. I have posted a revised plan (still not offical) to the 1st post of the teen thread.

AND SCHOOL IS OFFICIALLY OVER FOR ME TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!
