Back from my training in Dallas, it was a good weekend and lots of hard work. I am thrilled baseball started today, we finally joined the modern age and have cable. :woohoo: I watched my beloved Cubs rally to tie and then lose to the Brewers... Why aren't the early April games played in domed stadiums??? :confused3
Well, look at this! We HAVE A NEW PIRATE! What would you like your pirate name to be?:confused3 pirate:

Hi all,

Just asking for prayers and pixie dust for my mom. I got home on Monday and she couldn't walk. It seems she has a heart arrhymia and a mild stoke that weakened her right side. She's still in the hospital and will probably go into rehab for a few weeks. Then she'll need home care. So please pray that God will help us through this.

Thanks. I'll keep you posted.

Maryann

May I say I've been there...it is a very tiring time, keep yourself healthy, she will need you - I'm an only child so it is very hard on us, how about you?
Please give us updates when you can.pixiedust:

I know how it is. My DM is going to be 82 in June and MIL (who is here now will be 81 in August). I hope she has a speedy recovery.

Sorry, it's been a busy week - ..hmm Pirate name - Given my conversation at the time, Pirate Cubbie? :thumbsup2

That could be an interesting twist to the name game - your name has to come from the topic in your post...:lmao:

Last night we were at the Middle School for ds13, Mike's dress rehearsal for the regional band contest & sight reading.

They are performing 3 rehearsed pieces. One has to be a march, and the other two are picked from a list of pieces. They are judged on those and then in the 2nd portion of the contest, they are given a piece to play and they are judged on their sight reading ability. The director has 7 minutes to look at the piece and walk them through it - no playing or singing allowed in those 7 minutes. The director doesn't see the piece in advance either...

Anyway, Mike's director pulled area band directors in for a dress rehearsal/concert last night and walked the kids through the entire process, it was impressive.

The quality of this middle school band is far more than we ever had even at our h.s. level... (Of course, that's not saying much in dh and my experience, our director liked to party with the seniors, he owned a liquor store) This fall, We saw a half time field show for Mike's future h.s. - it was absolutely jaw dropping - the time and the dedication these kids put into their craft. It was amazing...

What are the plans for this weekend???

dd10 has a full schedule of lacrosse games - the season is winding down and they are making up games that were canceled early in the season. So, we'll be at the fields Saturday, Sunday and Monday night... whew!!!

This time in 2 weeks I will be on a plane to WDW!!! I can't wait to get someplace warm.

Matt's band was in a band festival on Tuesday. What a joke. Two of the bands had places where they sang or hummed and one of the bands even snapped their fingers. This is not concert band. And after that our band only got a bronze (but the honors wind ensemble got a gold). I can't wait to see them march down Main Street.

This weekend will be spent shopping for any odds and ends we need for the trip (I think Matt will need a new bathing suit). Sunday is his bowling lunch. Last year they got a huge bag of goodies (sweatshirt, beer mug with name and year on it...)

your child marching down Main Street USA:love: :yay:

Both our sons were NOT in the band, but the band director allowed them to be in the honor guard to walk down Main Street....each of our kids has been to WDW twice a year since they were born and you can just imagine how we felt seeing them on Main Street. They both performed with the show choir in Disney but it was SO special to see them on Main Street....something "we" Disney fanatics will never forget. :cheer2:

We have two boys, one turning 22 in July and one turning SIXTEEN next week:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
He had his usual 'sleepover' with 4 other guys Saturday night (he didn't want a big party like we had for his brother) and he wants another sleepover this coming weekend with, thank goodness, only 3 other guys. My DH and I don't LOVE these sleepovers:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: but we couldn't say no, it is his birthday. He hasn't yet asked to go for his permit, like I told my husband, only reason I think he hasn't asked is because he'd need to study for a test:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: (studying for Tyler is right up there with his favorite things, like cleaning his bedroom:rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

Maryann: how is your mom?:confused3 :flower3:

Mickeymo: oh those regionals and sight readings. Since my kids never played instruments they never did well on the sight reading part of the counties and districts (for chorus). Fortunately they made counties but never districts.
Our high school show choir is going to Ohio over Memorial Day for a competition at Cedar Point Amusement park. My hubby and I are going along, maybe (our son isn't thrilled that mom and dad are helping to chaperone - in Disneyworld he KNEW he didn't have a choice, we were GOING, but now he'd rather we stay home):rotfl: :rotfl:

All for now, Lucy:grouphug:

Wow, what a great memory having you're kids march on Main Street, Jess just got back from her senior trip there.......I AM SO JEALOUS!!!:scared:

Maryann,

Give us an update on your mom when you have time to check in!

Hi,

Just a quick hello and update before I go back to visit her in the hospital. We've been working on trying to get her into rehab. If all goes well, she should be transferred tomorrow. She's doing better. Thank you all so much for your prayers. Sorry I missed the pirate: . Congrats!

I'm glad you mom is doing better. I just picked mine up from the hospital yesterday. I had to take her to the ER on Sunday. She was extremely dizzy and vomiting. They really couldn't find anything wrong with her except that maybe she had a slight infection. She's fine now.

One more week with MIL and then it's off to Disney (I can't wait for some real warm weather - although it is supposed to be 60 today and 70 tomorrow).

temperatures being 70 in NJ (or PA) and 70 in Florida.....
I'll take Florida, ANY DAY!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Starwood: you DESERVE a break!
