Greetings All,
I am just returning today from the NYE Cruise. Yes, as always it is a let down to be home. But despite the weather, it was wonderful. The first three days were great!! Above avg. temps. all the way through to the 1st of Jan. then the tides, or should I say waves turned!! After the Caymans it all changed. It wasn't so bad when the seas were at 15 feet or as it approached 20 ft. But when we hit Gale Force winds and seas at 30Ft. it was a different story. It was like this the entire time until we reached
Castaway Cay. Cozumel excursions were all cancelled and the walk across to the shops was an excursion in itself. But since my goal was to just crash and relax, I accomplished that.
Castaway Cay was not like I remembered it. We could have made sandmen, that would have rivaled Frosty. It was cold, breezy and showers of and on. But many braved the weather. Those that came from climates colder and snower were just happy they were not at home.
I booked this cruise while on board and announced to the family on the way home, needless to say, they excited about another cruise and disappointed that it wasn't sooner. I have looked for one later in the summer, but with 2 adults and 4 kids and other trips already planned, I just can't make myself pay the same amount for a 4 day doubledip at CC as the 7 night I just booked even with my
travel agent discount.
Our Disboard group was good for this trip. We did FE and the kids really enjoyed it. One family in our group had the Walt Suite and had everyone up on New Years Day, which was really nice. If I can get pictures uploaded I will post the doors and FE's.
At the date of this cruise there will be 5 maybe 6 in our group. My DS will be in college and I am not sure of his plans yet. Myself, DH, DD (17), DD (9), DS(8) and if DS comes he will be (19).
Yes, I am as obsessed as the rest of you, and together we will treat our OCD with Disney Cruising together. I llok forward to chatting with you all in the coming months, as we count down to the Cruise to Tortola.
Pam
