Quick question about getting from WDW to Cape Canaveral on the day of the cruise.

How do we do it?? We're thinking of staying over Thurs and Fri before at SSR and maybe meet for drinks with JoAnn & Lucy?? But how to we get to port on Sat. ?????? Do we cab it or does Disney have some sort of transport we can book?

Yes, there are transfers available from DCL. You can add that charge at any time. (Just make sure you do it long before the trip documents are delivered to your house or you won't get the tags.) The beauty of it is that you tag your luggage before you check in your home airport. DCL will pick up your luggage and bring it right to your stateroom If you are staying on a WDW property, it will deliver it to your room at SSR. On the way home, if you tag your luggage, DCL will transport it to the airport for you. In addition, the DCL bus takes you from your resort right to the ship. (I hope I explained that clearly!)

Yes, Lucy and I plan to vacation in WDW before the trip. No plans have been made yet, but that's what we'll probably do. We would love to join you for drinks......who else wants to come?:woohoo:

Lucy, let us know when you will be in NYC. We can meet for lunch/dinner. Would have to be on a Sat/or sun., though. Maybe JoAnn can visit as well. We'll have a pre-cruise dismeet!!!!! Anyone else care to join in?

Maryann
Yes, I haven't forgotten our plan to meet in the fall. I'm glad we didn't in the summer b/c we're having a busy one! By fall, I'll be ready for a visit to NYC. My oldest will be working there thru at least mid-Sept, or she may continue thru Dec......either way, we'll come up. :goodvibes

Friday night we MAY drive to the port (to save points) and stay there, so Lucy can be the FIRST IN LINE TO GET ON THE SHIP!:woohoo: :woohoo:

3) I proposed to her on the Magic June 10th (here it is if you missed it)
4) I work as a contractor for NASA training astronauts (another teacher of sorts)
5) I still don't understand a lot of Disney acronyms, I have about 800 more to learn at NASA as it is
6) My fiance is more of a sports fan than I am
7) We have 2 dogs: Rocket (jack russel/greyhoundish mix) and Phoenix (German shepherd/Boxer mix) and 2 degus: Peanut and Loki
8) Recently took a motorcycle safety course and found out I love riding motorcycles
9) I enjoy cooking and grilling
10) I've been on one Norwegian cruise and one Disney cruise... this will be my second and its going to be AWESOME!!!

Since a lot of you have been on the DIS Cruise boards longer than me, I thought maybe you guys could link to some of your favorite cruise trip reports.

I need some reading material!!!!

I honestly don't read too many trip reports unless I "know" the person. I might be more inclined to read when they start the Tortola runs this spring. Maybe someone else will be of assistance in this department!

I wrote one for Cruise Critic in 2005, but it didn't make it on the website. One I wrote for the Carnival Triumph last year did, though. Hopefully my newspaper class this year will further advance my writing skills & get my report of the Magic on the page next year.

I need to correct you - Lucy will be second in line....

Although, theoretically I should say 11th - because discounting my immediate family of 4 who know the drill, there will be 6 grumpy family members trying to figure out why we are at the port so early, just to wait... Our TA booked one of my immediate family members in each cabin to take advantage of the CC credit - we can't get on until our entire party is present...sigh.... My name is on my parent's cabin, I'm holding their secret veranda cabin hostage, don't show up at port early - you get the broom closet...:lmao: Now what to do with the rest of my family??? :confused3

Bring it ON mickeymo!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Although i thought the same thing in 2005 in California (that I WAS going to be first)....ask JoAnn and Jenny about THAT...but, turned out I got the same boarding # as the others so I was cool!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Seriously, at Port Canaveral, there hasn't been ONE time we weren't sitting in line with the car, waiting for the gates to open (this time MAY be different since we do not have our car!)...I just wanna get there NOW!:yay: :yay:

Robnkris: I've been reading a ton of trip reports - with pictures - i'll send some threads along - some of them are great!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

HEY Tara!

The trick here would be to all come in the same car.......None of you can beat me, BTW.........it will be the Amazing Race that morning, all of us speeding in cars...........so we can stand in line..........for 2 hours!

This is the best challenge I've had in a very long time:woohoo: :dance3: :yay:  :grouphug:
