Ok, I'm LOVING the 10 things.......thx to Jenny for the idea!

I'm sure Lucy will have a bag of choc chip cookies for each of us at the DISmeet..............thx LuLu!:lovestruc :rolleyes1 :wav:rotfl2: :thumbsup2 e2:

I'm gonna bake choc. chip cookies for the cruise:sad2: I'll be in Disney before the cruise, BAKING is not on the agenda, EATING baked goods at Disney IS definitely on the agenda (especially from Norway, and, my favorite, Mickey ice cream bars):dance3: :dance3:

I believe Jenny is meeting Ramule this afternoon:woohoo: :woohoo:

My son Tyler just signed up on the DISboards - I'm trying to get him to chat on the teen board - he already knows John (FatPhil) :cool1:

Listen, I'm going to start an astrological list to see who's winning (You have to post to count and I still think Aquarius is winning!):goodvibes

Here are our ten things:

1. I was born in Cincinnati and my wife is from Cleveland. :yay:

2. We have a beastly DS :cool2: (16 on the cruise) who came up with our pirate name pirate: and an awesome DD princess: (13 on the cruise) who is writing this for my dad because I can type fast. :woohoo:

3. We live in Milford, a suburb of Cincinnati.

4. I am a Tarus, May 19, DW and DS are Libra, Oct. 8, Oct. 20, DD is Gemini, June 12.

5.We love going to Disney World. We've been there 8 times. This year we went to Disneyland for the first time. We have been to the beach about as many times as we have gone to Disney. Daytona Beach in Florida is our favorite.

6. I have been a machinest at GE for 30 years.

7. I like Fantasy Football and Baseball. We love  watching the Reds and Browns play:thumbsup2 . Boo Bengals!

8. We have season tickets to Kings Island amusement park. We (except DW) love big roller coasters.:scared1:

9. My DS runs track and cross country, and my DD is a cheerleader:cheer2: .

10. We all want to meet new people on the cruise.

1. ....I say we first met in Jr. High district band - we both played trombone.
2. ....Mike plays trombone and Maggie will begin to play trombone this year.

I played trombone for seven years (5th through 12th grade). Of course, I haven't picked it up in over twelve years. Maybe we could put on a concert at the Dis meet.

Maybe not.

(1) I'm SC Minnie's husband, Tom and our daughter is Catherine who will be 15 at the time of the cruise as her birthday is July 11th.
(2) Mona and I share the same birthday, October 23rd so we're both Scorpios. I'm 14 years older however at 53.
(3) I was born in Cleveland and I'm still a big Browns, Indians, and Cavs fan. I'll be flying to Cleveland to watch the Browns opener against Dallas in 4 weeks.
(4) At age 30 I got tired of the snow and moved to South Carolina. Fort Mill is actually just across the border from Charlorre, NC. Fort Mill's claim to fame is where Jim Bakker and Tammy Fae Bakker started PTL (Praise The Lord) and swindled all those people out of their money.
(5) This will be our 4th Disney cruise. Our first was January 2002. By booking that 7 day cruise, Disney was offering a 3 day cruise for $99/person. This was after 9/11 when the travel industry took a big hit.
(6) We bought into DVC on our first cruise and VWL is our home resort. So our first cruise cost us $20,000 or whatever the number was.
(7) We bought a second contract at HHI. We're about 3 1/2 hours from Hilton Head so we use our contract for long weekends. We'll stay offsite on Friday and then get a studio for Sat. and Sun. for weekends like Memorial Day which has an off day on Monday. We'll be going to HHI for Columbus Day weekend.
(8) I'm a classic rock and roll fan which I guess is only natural for someone from the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
(9) We were able to reserve one of the secret verandahs for this cruise.
(10) We spent our honeymoon on St Thomas 16 years ago this month (8/22).

thank goodness someone chatted today!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
I was so bored today - my DH was working, it was storming all day (hail) so I've been checking this thread all day long!:dance3:

What a funny comment, we also bought into DVC back in 2005 on a cruise - never thought about it that the cruise cost us 'that much':lmao: :lmao:
Never regretted either purchase...the DISers we met on the 2005 cruise (and are also travelling on this cruise) talked us into buying into DVC:hug: , what great friends....honestly, we LOVE owning DVC!:woohoo:

I remember passing signs to Fort Mill when we used to drive to WDW - used to that is - for about 12 years, but now that we started flying, I really don't wanna make that drive EVER again!:sad2:

Thanks for your 10 things!:cool1:

Thx so much to all, I think Aquarians are losing some ground.......I still have to tabulate our list..........the lists are great, we all seem to have something in common! Lots of sports fans and DVC members!:thumbsup2

I was born in Cleveland and I'm still a big Browns, Indians, and Cavs fan. I'll be flying to Cleveland to watch the Browns opener against Dallas in 4 weeks.

Another common.......DH (Mark) was born and raised 1 1/2 hours south of Cleveland in New Phladelphia. Raised in a family of Browns and Indians fans (but "went astray" to be a huge Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan ). Went to college in Cleveland at B-W. He says he cheers for the Browns all but 2 games a year..........;)

I have also learned that Ramule and his wife are big Reds fans too!:yay: Also, Ramule, our DD9 was born May 19th!

We met up with Ramule and DW at the Reds/Astros game on Sat. night briefly. We enjoyed meeting them! I noticed too that they have King's Island season passes. We do too! Have you guys checked out the new roller coaster that is opening in April 2009?

The Reds games were terrible, but we had a great time this weekend just hanging out. NO KIDS WEEKEND! In fact, I was late for the Reds game Sunday (that NEVER happens), but I slept until 11:45!:scared1:

Thanks for offering to bake chocolate chip cookies for all of us on the cruise Lucy! That was so "sweet" of you!:rolleyes1

3princessmommy - I have to be the honest one here.......I had NO IDEA where you lived!!! So, I went online to read about where you reside. I learned so much! It was very interesting! I am glad I looked it up!

Starwood Thanks for the DCL update. You sure have to stay on top of these things!

Thx to Jenny for starting the 10 things list........is it your first day?

Hey! THanks! I have loved learning about people. Some of their comments have really sparked the thread! Keep posting things folks! You will be surprised how well we will know each other before we even start the cruise!

Yes, today is my first day. :teacher: The kids start tomorrow.....:scared1: I couldn't sleep last night...........happens every year!:surfweb:

Well, I'm having one of those nights.......saw Jess today and you could tell, the pressure is intense right now...........

For the benefit of the thread......my youngest DD starting her first season of pre-season soccer training and she's in camp, so right now, she's training 3x a day. Her first scrimmage is Sunday at 1pm.

Have a nice first day..............:goodvibes ............I always say, "190 days to go!" (we work for 191 days a year!):teacher:

Hey Jfis1020, nice to meet you and your DH on Saturday night. We should have went somewhere after the game. The Reds stink right now.  Nice to see your DD birthday is the same as mine.:woohoo: :woohoo: We were at Kings Island Friday night, and saw the model for the new coaster. :scared1: Its looks great!!. Let us know if you guys have anymore trips planned to come to Queen City.princess:

Wow, you folks have been busy gabbing!! It's great to "meet" all of you! We still have 2 weeks before us teachers go back to school. Kids go back first day after Labor Day.

starting school today - i know she is NOT happy today:sad2: :sad2: , but, think about it, next year, when we are struggling with our kids at the end of the year, she will be done (in May already)!:yay:

Our fall semester goes really, really quickly, musical (which Bob directs and Tyler performs) is the weekend before Thanksgiving, then with Bob's retail schedule, no days off there....Spring semester is VERY, VERY long for us because this family HATES ( I know, I know, it is a strong word) winter:furious: We will probably do a day in NYC in the fall (Bob wants to see White Christmas - a limited engagement - he would like to do that show next year for our high school), then usually in Jan. or Feb. we take an overnight in NYC (rates are GREAT!)! The one year we went in january we had a blizzard in NYC - that was so cool!:dance3:

I'm so obsessed with this Disney Cruise site right now - reading all the trip reports, all the tips, etc.....this cruise is SO exciting and all of you on this thread sound like so much fun!:woohoo: :woohoo:

As my husband would say, Lucy, get back to work!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
(not really, but he knows how much i love to be on these boards!)

Call me crazy, but I always get excited at the beginning of a new school year. This year, it will be my first w/o any of my own children in the school district where I work........this is weird (but it might be a little less stressful!)

Lucy, let us know when you will be in NYC. We can meet for lunch/dinner. Would have to be on a Sat/or sun., though. Maybe JoAnn can visit as well. We'll have a pre-cruise dismeet!!!!! Anyone else care to join in?

Maryann

Quick question about getting from WDW to Cape Canaveral on the day of the cruise.

How do we do it?? We're thinking of staying over Thurs and Fri before at SSR and maybe meet for drinks with JoAnn & Lucy?? But how to we get to port on Sat. ?????? Do we cab it or does Disney have some sort of transport we can book?
