I really just have to say that Shirley from The Perfect Gift is a special kind of person.

I mean, it's one thing to have good customer service and offer a quality product. But - the personal touch that she adds is just over the top!!! :thumbsup2

She just called me to confirm our gift basket order for the cruise. After she confirmed everything, she asked me when we were arriving in FL and how we were getting to the ship. When I told her we were renting a car, she insisted that I take her personal cell phone number just in case we ran into any kind of trouble, needed directions, or help in any way.

Now, I don't know about you all - but I think that's pretty special. The personal touch and genuine caring for other people puts her over the top. Just for that extra specialness, I'd order a gift basket from her. It's so rare these days. On top of that, she's recovering from a small stroke!!!

She's a really special person. :flower3:

I just checked our 1st thread - it had 250 pages with 3740 posts. We should be good for a few days. However I will be gone when you start the next thread, so someone will need to copy post one on this one to start the next.

Since we're leaving the morning of the cruise, I'm happy to keep an eye out and paste the new info when this one closes.

does anyone know if AT&T has coverage in St. Thomas or Castaway Cay. I just called them and I was told that if St. Thomas is part of Puerto Rico, then there was a POSSIBLILTY that it would be in the network but maybe not...(that was helpful)! I had a different carrier last time and St. Thomas was covered.

T-Mobile coverage in St. Thomas was phenomenal last time we were there. I remember walking up the back street hills of St. Thomas and having a long work conversation that resulted in an 8 month project in New York when we got back from the cruise. :scared1:

What Verison plan covers calls from St. Thomas? I'd rather do a quick call then be online.

It should be an extended network because it's a U.S. Virgin Island. My guess is it's covered by Verizon Puerto Rico, though and considered a roaming network.

I totally agree!! She gave me her cell phone number also. When I said we were coming over on Thursday night so we could go to KSC she got very excited and wanted to know what kind of deal we got from the Radisson. If she didn't like what I told her I'm sure she would have called them!

She is a very special person. When we went on our Western she sent me a big envelope full of information and coupons for Key West (her and Norm are from there).

Shirley ROCKS! :rockband:

I just looked at our previous thread and Virgil requested the lock on post #3721 on page 250, so page 250 is the "magic"al number!:thumbsup2

I will divert this question to my son, fatphil. His stepmother is an AT&T rep. When you get back from driver's ed today, will you ask Diana, please?? Post her comments here too (unless they are about me!:rotfl:) Just kidding folks!

Hello to the cruisers on July 18th.:woohoo: This is going to be our third cruise but its been many many years since our last one. I cant believe how many things has changed. I JUST found out about the cute magnets for the doors and the fish extenders. :scared: Im not sure when the cut off is or was for the fish extenders are. I would love to get in on this, I think it sounds so fun. I just printed off the list and would at least like to at participate on our end. I do understand its late. Our room number is,7623 my name is Jo Ann my DH is Darren and we have one DD Brandi (14)
Can someone please help me with this question..
Cant wait...see you all there... :yay:

Ok just a few comments fromt he peanut gallery 0 My DH would wholeheartedly agree that packing is something that must be done at midnight the night before you leave after the whole house is cleaned. He drives me nuts!!

I am prepacking but still have two other trips to deal with first!!! kids are still at camp, so their things will need to be washed and packed, and I am going away this weekend to a wedding in Rhode Island and have to pack some of the things I am cruising with. So right now, kids have 2 of our suitcases, one has wedding stuff in it, and one is crusie only things. I am pretty sure I will never get all of this done!!!

Oh - and I was able to buy most of my FE things yesterday. DH thinks I am completely deranged, and has no idea why I am buying strangers gifts, even though I have repeatedly explained you all are not strangers!

And this really is a special group of cruisers. My last cruise meet was fun, but we never got beyond one thread, and I was posting on there over a year out!

Oh - and by the way - I swore that this time I would actualyl do a trip report. So in teh interest od f maing myself do it, I started a pretrip report on the trip report board!!

Anyone who sees me on the ship should be reminding me to take notes!!!

Story for lwilliam and disnutz (and anyone else who cares to read) about booze on St. Thomas:

Greg and I went on a RCCL Panama Canal cruise for our honeymoon ('95). We started our trip with a few days in Puerto Rico. We were at a great hotel, but it had the biggest casino on Puerto Rico so the cigarette smoke was terrible. As a result, we both ended up with really sore throats and colds.

Fast forward to the cruise -- we were really sick on embrakation day and the first full day, and spend most of the time in bed (and not in a honeymoon sort of way). Our day 2 stop was St. Thomas, and we dragged ourselves out of bed to go onto the island. We were dizzy and hoarse and wandered into a liquor store to bring back some gifts. The owner saw us and said, "You two look terrible. Come with me." He brought us to a tasting bar (where a lot of people were sampling different liqueurs) and said he had the cure for our colds. We kind of shrugged and said okay. He then mixed about 12 different things into one concoction for us and told us to drink it down. I can still recall how much it burned! We bought some liquor, thanked him, and went back to the ship, where we slept off what must have been the equivalent of 2 Long Island Iced Teas.

When we woke up, we were cured. Not just "feeling a little better" cured, but completed cured.

I still sometimes wonder if it was a hallucination, because we've never been able to find that same liquor store again.

Love the story.

Welcome! The FE exchange list closed on July 1 to give time for people to make/buy the gifts and also because some people have already left on vacation. But I've added you to my list, so expect a little something! :thumbsup2

We're also doign a get together with a secret santa-type exchange. $20 or so gift with a theme from your hometown. There's no sign up for that one -- it's just whoever shows up will exchange with the person who's number they pick out of a hat!

Hey! If we catch disnutz having a little too much, we could really "add" some notes to her trip report for her!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I never go anywhere without my camera . . . . :)

The FE 'officially' closed July 1 since some people were leaving for FL last week. I am not sure how many people are going to have extras but I know I will have a few extras things i was bringing- not a complete pack but something.

There is a Teen thread for this cruise. Our Catherine, DD14 (turning 15 this Sat :scared:), and a couple of others chat on there a lot, a whole lot:rolleyes1. They are a nice group of kids and am sure would welcome your DD to join in.

Do you have any clue about where the store was? Did you walk from the ship or tender, of course I don't know that you could walk on water :rotfl2:

To answer you question, the FE was cut off July 1st some people have already left for their vacation and would not be able to add to their lists.

But you can still participate in the Dis Meet Grab Bag on Sun. No signing up. Just bring gift from your state or whatever, and we will do an exchange at the meet.

I am sailing with my DD (14) and DS (15, almost 16). I think there is oign to be a great group of kids close to the same age.
