July 18, 2007 07-18-07 Med Cruise

Since I'm done teaching for the summer, I've been shopping, shopping, shopping! Every time I'm out I seem to find a little something I could buy for vacation. I have a mound of bags in my closet filled with vacation items and I even cleared a section of my closet for vacation clothes. Hm, perhaps I should've taught summer school because I'm thinking about this trip now non stop! :woohoo:

I've never been over to the Med before, so I was also wondering if there were a lot of mosquitoes and bugs that bite? Do I need bug repellant?

We didn't have any problems in Barcelona in May, and I haven't seen anyone post on any of the threads that they had any problems, so I think we are okay.

One of my kids has a b'day party to attend at the mall tomorrow, so while he's at the party, I plan to hit the sales ~ the closer the trip comes, the more urgently I feel the need for some new clothes! ay yi yi! Thankfully DH just got a nice promotion at work, so if I spend his first paycheck's raise for the trip, well, we won't have gotten used to the raise yet so he won't miss it, right? :rolleyes1 Oh wait - maybe I shouldn't share all my secrets here - you guys WILL be meeting him - love ya, honey!

Nope not done packing yet. We just finished unpacking the house and getting that organized. Can't believe the cruise is so close. I've still got a few more things to get before I'm completely done with shopping for this trip.

Hello Lissa

Have you packing done?? I have not starting yet I will do it next week:cool2:

Yes, very odd that everyone have differents show on their 'My Disney' reservations.:confused3

Oh, not long to go 13 more working days:dance3: :yay:

Scottishwee35:banana: :cool1:

Shouldn't take me long to pack. All I need are my Speedos and my suspenders to hold 'em up. ;)

Oh yeah, and a tie for formal night.

Our lips are sealed !!! :rotfl2:

Cindy we promise not to let your secret out.:thumbsup2

Just booked the afternoon Costa Smeralda tour. I'm a little worried about this because that gives us four excursions in a row and three of them are all day tours. When we are at Disney and mom and I need a break it's not a problem. I'm a little worried about keeping up with all of this. Decided to book the afternoon tour because we really want to see Porto Cervo. Oh well at least we can rest on the plane ride home.

If you would kindly update my details on your list, I promise your secret will be safe with me. It should read Andrea (37) & DD Kirsten (11) cabin 5144 from Scotland.

Thanks a million

Andrea

I have just been on the DCL website changing nearly all our excursions and have noticed I have now been changed from 2nd seating to main dining :cool1: :cool1: . So that is great news. My new excursion list is noted below

Palermo - Mondello Beach
Naples - The Hidden Treasures of Herculaneum
Olbia - La Cinta Beach
Rome - Jumping Back to Eternal Rome
La Spezia - Pisa (have booked on line tickets to climb the tower)

I will probably change my mind about a few things again but this is the plan at the moment.

I have a Spa break planned for this weekend so Iam away to pack for that and when I come home on Sunday the serious business of packing and getting ready for the cruise will begin as there are only 21 days until I fly to Barcelona :woohoo:  :dance3:  :woohoo:

Consider it done!

While I was updating, I took a quick count and from this thread, if everyone on the list is still going, we have 51 adults and 29 children (ok, I included the teenagers with "children", so that's really age 17 and under). That's a good crew!

I didn't have cabin numbers for everyone - if you know your cabin number and want to share it, feel free.

There will be DISers in 2524, 2593, 5130, 5131, 5144, 6082, 6116, 6504, 6506, 6526, 6588, 7119, and 8100. Looks like we've got the whole ship covered!

Hi Andrea

How you know the time for Pisa for climb up?

As we have been booking for morning at Pisa but I don't know what the best time to booking it?

Scottishwee35:thumbsup2

Does anyone know if you can "waitlist" for excursions? The more I think about it, the more I would really like us to do the VIP Pisa, but it's sold out online. I know they hold some back for after boarding (at least I'm thinking they still do that) and will try to switch when we get on board but didn't know if they could let us do that ahead of time........... I keep checking in case it opens up. :surfweb:

Keep looking at it, if nothing trying book on the Cruise, hope you will get it  and I see that Florence and Pisa are available as it was sold out for a long times now back on. Also, see Palo is available well. Seem everybody have different show on the reservations. Very Strange!!:confused3

Yes, I have been tempted to book Florence and Pisa, better not. Think too long day after Rome.

I read a report (sorry don't know where) that someone was waitlisted onboard for an excursion opening. I think they arranged this once they had boarded the ship. The excursion came up but they decided not to take it and were not charged.

Deborah

I don't know if my timings are correct but here are my thoughts. The DCL excursion info states that the excursion starts at 8.15 and there is a 75 min bus ride, so that means we should arrive in Pisa at around 9.30 and I have booked the climb for 10.20 so hepefully it will be ok. It cost 34 euros for the 2 of us so if we miss it it won't be good but will not be a huge loss.

Andrea

I have a question for everyone.

Are you all dressing up for Pirates Night or not. My DD wants to dress up but is frightened she will be the only one and this is putting her off. We have not made a final decision so your comments will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies about wait-listing the excursions. Deborah, I'll update your cabin info. I'm about ready to start translating DISboard names into real-life names in my head so I won't be calling everyone their DIS names ;)

As for Pirate night, we dressed up (well, my kids and me) when we sailed in Dec. 2005 and it was a lot of fun. But this time, I'm not planning to bring any Pirate gear. For one thing, the gear they used before is now too small, and I had borrowed mine so I don't have it any more. But it is really a load of fun to dress up and participate, or even just to participate if you aren't dressed up - wear your bandana from dinner.

Zachary was dressed in his Capt. Hook costume and while we were on deck dancing in the middle of the party, Capt. Hook came right up to Zachary to shake his hook (hand)! It was so so so cool. And I absolutely LOVE Minnie's outfit for pirate night - if I could find a Minnie pirate costume, I would get it and wear it.

Yes, we will be dressing up pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

I primose I will do it this time as Last year I didn't do it, only my daughter and my husband.

My son got a new pirate: uniform today. He delighted with it but one problem that I hope I get him out of the club and have a meal with us and see the pirate: party which he missed it out last year:sad2: .

Erm, Go for it:thumbsup2
