I counted 38 staterooms on the list....

We only have 30 gifts.. Now not enough time to get others.

Sorry for that.
For the others we can bring a typical dutch type of candy.
Shall we do that ?

And here a question for the Belgium people :
Spreken jullie Nederlands / Vlaams ?

Greetings,

Hans Tiems

Only 3 nights and we are off...:hourglass
Are you all also extra carefull, just to be sure you can go on the cruise ?

I've had the same thought while my son has been at baseball camp this week..please don't break anything.. Mommy NEEDS her vacation. I am so looking forward to the spa treatments.

I only have 30 little gifts too...

CAN'T wait..

Welcome to all the new posters! I am still astonished to see the large amount of DISers going on our voyage; it's awesome!

I look forward to seeing Pirates on the ship because I've been waiting ever since it came out in the theatres. That list of all the movies looks pretty good!

Doing some cleaning today as well :laundy:

Just a few more days! :woohoo:

Today was haricut day. We all got haircuts and mom and I got our eyebrows waxed. Took the cats to the vet to make sure they were ok and made sure everything was arranged with the house/pet sitter. Mom got a new carry on bag this one is bright red maybe this time she won't lose it and we found that no jet lag stuff in the luggage store so we got a pack to try it. Is it monday yet? I'm ready to go!

Got my nails done at 11 this morning for my (early) lunch today. Came back and had an email from Delta. Was within my 72 hour flight window and my automatic first class upgrade came through for Salt Lake City to Atlanta, so at least I'll be flying part way in luxury!

:cool1:

Ben - welcome to the DIS and to the thread! We hope we'll have a chance to meet you on the ship. I'll add you to the "who's traveling" list - where are you from and what cabin (or deck) are you on? When will you arrive in Barcelona and will you be staying somewhere pre-trip? What an awesome anniversary trip!

I'm Cindy D. and will be traveling with DH and our two boys. We're arriving on Tuesday and staying at the Atenea Mar hotel. We've never been to Europe before (well, DH has when he was a teenager) so this is a whole new experience for us!

I counted 38 staterooms on the list....

When I was prepping our Meet gifts, I was thinking one per family, so if a family has more than one stateroom, it's still just one per family (but I am bringing something that can be shared along with a little sense of humor - at least I hope you all will see it!).

As for the question about being extra careful - yep. Zachary and I are both students of TaeKwonDo and we have not been to class in the last month - partly because of how busy we have been and / or being out of town, but also because I have been afraid of an injury. One of my friends had something happen to her achilles tendon on Saturday and that doubly confirmed my decision to wait until we return before resuming classes. Also DS#1 had his check-up today and I did NOT take DS#2 with us - didn't want to take a chance on him picking up another kid's sickness.

Here's the FINAL Final List of DISers traveling with us!

Hey
Thanks for the quick reply - we are running a camp this week and we are very very busy....
I notice that many of you are very experienced on the Magic - so here are a couple of questions

1. I notice that an Iron is not listed in the room amenities....is there one available if I should want to press my own shirt?

2. How many 'formal' nights do we plan on? I am thinking its like 4-5?

3. The gifts being spoken of here - are for the meet and greet - can you tell me a little more about the small gifts you are referring to here.

Thanks

Ben

Gotta....ton of stuff to do this weekend!
:)

1. I notice that an Iron is not listed in the room amenities....is there one available if I should want to press my own shirt? I don't know if anyone will do it, as I have not done it.
2. How many 'formal' nights do we plan on? I am thinking its like 4-5? two on 2nd and 8th.
3. The gifts being spoken of here - are for the meet and greet - can you tell me a little more about the small gifts you are referring to here. Well, maybe you can bring the gifts from your country. Like I bring the gifts from my country - Scotland gift, just something little.
Thanks

Ben

I notice that many of you are very experienced on the Magic - so here are a couple of questions

1. I notice that an Iron is not listed in the room amenities....is there one available if I should want to press my own shirt?

The Disney ships have laundry rooms where you can actually do your own laundry! In each laundry room there is one or two ironing boards and irons. Due to fire code, irons are not allowed in the staterooms. If you are busy (or lazy) like us, when we board the ship, I automatically send out my formal stuff for "ironing only" and let the ship do it. It will be returned the next day. The price is 1/2 of the laundry fee. The prices are not bad. I used to take all my husband's shirts to the dry cleaners here but they were all wrinkled by the time we got to the ship. Our friend told us about sending to laundry on the ship and we've done that ever since. It works great!

2. How many 'formal' nights do we plan on? I am thinking its like 4-5?

Well, you might be disappointed then. There is only one formal night planned due to all the ports we visit and one semi-formal night and one pirate night (where you will see many pirates dressed up on the ship!). The formal night is the first full day at sea, July 19, which will also be the night of The Golden Mickey's in the Walt Disney Theatre which you won't want to miss!

3. The gifts being spoken of here - are for the meet and greet - can you tell me a little more about the small gifts you are referring to here.

The meet and greet gifts are optional and are usually exchanged during the party (one hour before lifeboat drill on embarkation day). They are totally voluntary and don't feel obligated at this late date to feel like you need to go get something. Usually the gifts are small trinkets which somehow either connect somehow with our voyage, or around the activities of the ship (like pirate eye patches), small gifts from a party store or an online store like Oriental Trading, small candies or sometimes a small souvenir from the hometown you live in. We once got a bookmark from a cruiser in Europe which was from their hometown that was really nice and I still use it when I am reading a book.

:)

Hope some of the information helps. Keep asking away! We all want to help so you have a successful voyage aboard the Magic!

Hey thanks again
These little details really help. By the way to the one comment - I wasn't looking to borrow anyone else's iron...I was wondering if DCL had any on the ship and now I know they do!

Thanks again
Ben

that's how much more time I have to give to the State of Florida before I can leave for vacation! Woo-hoo!!!!! That means tomorrow is a short day for me at work because our pay-period ends tomorrow and because of a holiday (the 4th), I can't earn comp time - which means I only have to work 5 hours and 15 minutes tomorrow - which means I'm banana-dancing  (gosh, I love that dancing banana!)

Here's to the last day(s) of work for all of us who still have a few hours to go.

On the agenda for tonight - work on more door signs - i have ones done for Palermo, Naples and Rome plus our main one. I want to do one for the other ports as well, and maybe Pirate night. Or something.

I found my to-do-list at work for the cruise and I was able to cross the last of it off - getting the Euros and making Door Signs. Woo-hoo!

Now to scrape together something for dinner with whatever is left in the frig. Wish me luck (hee hee).

McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, etc., etc.,

That's what we have been scraping together for dinner this week. No time for cooking, I've got more important things on my list! (I cleaned out my frig last Sunday, so there is nothing in the house left to eat!)

Hi

I just finish door sign for in law as they don't know hee hee!!

Okay, I am off to bed at 23.35 pm now and feeling tired, another two more days working x 4 hours!!

Scottishwee35:)

We have been excited since the first day of bookings in April 2006 for this family trip. There are five in our party, Retha, Josie, Oliver, Logan and Jim. Our cabin numbers are 5022 and 5024. We are leaving for BCN on Saturday, just hours away. Our last sailing on the Magic was nine years ago, but we have fond memories and plan to add to those on this sailing. Our blog address is mickeygoestorome.blogspot.com.

I was watching the Travel Channel and saw some great shows about cruise ships and they got me excited! It's amazing to think you are going to dinner and shows in the middle of the ocean and it doesn't even feel like a ship but a resort.

It's creeping up on us now! (I like that dancing banana, too, Cindy! lol)

Welcome to our cruise Retha. Can you tell us what the ages of your "kids" are? Big ones, little ones, teens? When do you arrive into Barcelona?

Sandy

Hi all,

I've been busier than the dickens putting the final touches on door signs, dis-gifts, etc. Had hair color done Tuesday, nails will be done Friday, eye doctors appt. Thursday...whew!:3dglasses Are any of you burning the candle at both ends too? :rolleyes1 Shouldn't be too hard to sleep on the plane, I'll be so tired by then. :rotfl:

Some of you have mentioned bringing dollar bills...do you plan on using them to tip on board the Magic, or in ports of call? Or are you going to tip with Euros? My DH thought Europeans would rather get Euros than Dollar bills?:lmao:

Looking forward to meeting everybody next week. :dance3:

Sandy

Welcome to everybody new!
We are now official out of food at our house. Asked mom if we were going to the grocery store to get a few things to get us till Monday. Her answer no, you can eat peanut butter. So I guess we will be living on PB&J's for the next few weeks LOL.
For gifts I did one per a group a little trinket made here in Asheville and something edible that everyone can share. Hopefully Delta will not kill the edible part I have it really well packed.
Plan on letting Mickey do all the ironing and laundry if necessary for us. Were on vacation why would we want to do work?
Can't wait to meet everybody. Next Wednesday will be here before you know it.
