July 16, 2016 Disney Fantasy, Eastern Caribbean

Booked my fastpasses for our one day at the magic kingdom last night and got what I wanted at nearly the times I wanted! Getting excited! 60 days from now is our travel day!!!
I get to book ours on the 24th!!!! We are visiting MK and Epcot Hoping to get FP to the new Frozen attraction and the revamped Soarin

This will be our first Disney cruise. Anyone have tips for formal night? Trying to figure out what to wear. My DH agreed to whatever I wanted :) We don't typically dress "formal" so I will get to buy something new. Just don't want to be either overdressed or underdressed. Of course, my little princess is super excited!

Welcome! For formal night whatever you are comfortable in. Many folks do just cruise casual on formal night. We like to get dressed up so from one dad to another I have done a suite & tie as well as just a collared shirt with a sport coat which is my current plan for this one. The ladies in my family do nice knee length dresses. Hope this helps.

I have a ball gown that I've only worn once and I figure this is another opportunity to wear it so I'm going to bring it. If I'm over dressed oh well it will be nice to get a second wear out of the dress

There will be others in long dresses, some guys in a tux so will be fine. On formal night there is a Captains Reception in the Lobby Atrium and the Captain and officers wear there best dress - you can get photos with them if you want too.

Fast passes are new to us. I'm a bit intimidated. We have 1 day to spend @ MK and I have bought MK park tickets yet

Thank you so much!! This is going to be such an exciting trip!

They are really easy to do. You can start booking fast passes 60 days before your trip. We are going to MK and Epcot after the cruise, so I get to book ours on Monday. I know which attractions I want to sign up for already to make it easier. You pick a time frame to use the fast pass that works best around your dining reservations. Good luck!

I never get to dress up fancy so I'm probably wearing my black floor-length gown I wore in my sister's wedding. It's nice to get a second use out of those things! :flower:

Well we're late to the party but wanted to introduce ourselves.

Cruising is myself, DW, DD (22), DS (19), DS (16), DS (14)

This will be our 5th cruise with DCL and we started cruising back in 2006 when our youngest was only 5. Cannot believe 10 yrs have gone by so quickly. As others have mentioned, although it is often hard traveling with little ones, treasure those trips because they will be grown before you know it.

Our previous cruises were:

Feb 2006 Magic - 7 Day Western Caribbean - Cold and Rainy weather--15 ft waves for 2 days. Excursions cancelled left and right. Sea sick. Think we saw sun on two days. Still had a great time and loved cruising (after the waves stopped!)
Jun 2008 Wonder - 4 day Bahamas - Swore after Feb cruise would never cruise with a chance of cold weather again. This cruise was combined with WDW and Discovery Cove--great combo vacation.
Jun 2012 Dream - 4 day Bahamas (double dip CC). This was also combined with a WDW visit.
June 2013 Magic - 12 day Mediterranean - All I can say is WOW. Trip of a life time and we had a blast. Best family vacation ever. My youngest was almost 12 at the time and old enough to appreciate the different culture/architecture.

As you can see this is our first time on the Fantasy but it will be somewhat bittersweet. This will probably be the last time we cruise with just our family of 6 as my daughter will be attending medical school in August and the chances of vacations lining up for all of us will be a challenge, so we are making the most of this cruise and really spending as much relaxing quality time with each other as we can. So we will be celebrating my daughter's acceptance to medical school, my wife's birthday on July 20th and our 25 wedding anniversary (a month early but we can't travel in August because of school conflicts).

Looking forward to July!

Welcome! A bit similar situation for us as DD is getting married next year after college graduation to a Navy man. So we have the family of 4 plus future SIL joining us and not likely to coordinate schedules for everyone at least over the short term.

This is our first Disney Cruise. All in my family are excited about our upcoming cruise. We want to participate in Fish Extenders. Will you sign us up?

Jockisch Family--6044--DH, DW, DD6, DD3

Hello Ruth! So excited to see a meet thread! I'm guessing you mean July 16 though yes? If so we are also booked on this cruise!

We are a family of 6 and next summer kids will be DD14, DS 11, DS 8 and DD 5. We are from Iowa. This will be our third cruise...we did the Dream in June 2013 and just did the Magic March 2015. Both were such wonderful trips we couldn't wait to go again so rebooked and settled on this week!

We will definitely be in for fish extender exchange and are SO excited to check out the Fantasy and the Eastern ports!

FISH EXTENDER LISTS-
Please PM me or post on the thread if you would like to join a FE group!! I need to know cabin number and who is in the cabin including age and gender of children. Please also note any allergies or special occasions. We will limit to 10 families per group to keep lists and gift giving manageable with travel. If you have more than one cabin, let us know if each cabin will have its own FE (and give its own gift) or just one to share. We will close lists as we hit 10 families. If you would like to join more than one list, you are totally welcome to do that! Rules are otherwise open, you can give a cabin gift or one per person and can deliver any day of your choice during the cruise(one time). Finally if your plans change and you will no longer be cruising or doing FE please post or PM asap so we can remove you and keep lists accurate! Thank you!

****Fish Extender lists will close when full or 6/16/16(one month before sail date) to give people time to get organized. After 6/16 we will have a pixie dust list and anyone with extra gifts can give to this group, but there are no guarantees.

You've been added to the Daisy group! Welcome! Hopefully we will add a few more families before the deadline in a couple weeks!

And welcome detroitdad! Enjoy this time with your DD because yes life will get crazy!!! I'm an urgent care dr and I remember those days all too well!!!

Been kinda slow around here. So, with our days left getting smaller and smaller here's some fun stuff (hopefully):
  • The drink of the day is about $4 less than all other alcoholic drinks.
  • Gratuities are included in bar purchases - yep tip automatically added but there is still a tip line for additional tip if you desire so keep this in mind as many times no need to add extra tip like when just grabbing a beer.
  • Reminder, room service is free - just need to tip cast member that delivers
  • If you like coffee first thing in the a.m. but don't want to leave your room yet? Before going to bed at night order a carafe of coffee from room service. Coffee stays pretty hot in the carafe over night. Add a Mickey bar or warm cookies to the order too!
