July 15-22 2006 Western Anyone?

I think I'm finally done with all the shopping I need to do prior to the cruise. I went to a party store today and found eye patches and clip on earrings for the kids for pirate night. I believe that is all I needed to finish up for pirate night! YEAH!!!! I also got white pillowcases and fabric markers for the characters to sign. I have a laundry basket full of must have's put aside and ready to be packed.

WOW, 2 weeks away and we will be in Key West. I can't wait. I know the kids are excited!!! DH is starting to get excited too.

It is funny you said that about hubby. Mine is just now showing little glimmers of excitement. He does not get to excited too far out, but I see it happening to him too. :Pinkbounc I think the talk has definitely shifted into cruise mode. It is a good feeling to know that I am not driving them mad from all my talking.

Does anyone know if you can use the Motorala Talkabouts (walkie talkies) on board the ship? I believe I saw people with them last year but I think they rented them on the ship. We have our own and was just wondering if we should even bother bringing them.

Thanks!

I am bringing ours, although from what I hear, it is a slim chance that they will work. You should make sure to have plenty of channels because there will be many people on trying to get through to their kids.

I have read that for some they work, some they don't and others just work in certain parts of the ship. I will bring them just in case. I would rather not regret leaving them at home.

We will bring our walkie talkies as well. They have worked in the past, although sometimes it was difficult to understand. But if we ever had trouble hearing, we would all meet back in the room to figure out what was trying to be said.

Hmm, perhaps our bigger fear is that all the kids change the channel so that they can all talk to each other and leave the parents out. ;)

That is such a nice picture of your family. I like the matching t-shirt idea, but I may have to wait for next time. (yes, I am already thinking like a true dis'er). I have went way too far overboard this time. I may wear a hat of some sort. We shall see.

If you think you might want to rebook, look on DCL's website to see when you want to go, and what the prices are. That way you don't have to spend extra time on board looking at schedules. If you have the date you want, the process to rebook on board is about five minutes.

By the way, the total on the t-shirts is probably about $10. Hobby Lobby sells them for $3-4 each, and they were on sale for 50% off (and it seems they are always 50% off). They are not the best quality, but we don't need a lot of use out of them. I am not sure how much the t-shirt transfers are, but I have been using the same package from the first cruise we did them.

DD10 has offered to write on my shirt "Real Men Wear Pink".

My DH also bought walkie Talkies. Hopefully I will remember to pack them

I just checked the Key West web cam and the Magic is still there. I sure hope when we go we get to stay long enough to see the sunset in Mallory Square. :sunny: Maybe they say we leave at 7:30pm and then they surprise us with letting us stay in port longer. Wishful thinking huh?

I guess the answer is yes. We will bring our walkie talkies.

When we went shopping today my DH wanted to buy everything that had to do with pirates. pirate: He saw another POTC shirt at Target and wanted to buy it for DS. I told him I already bought him one and DH still wanted me to get it. So who's excited now...... (no I didn't get DS the shirt) HELLO, spent WAY TOO MUCH MONEY already!

I don't think we are going to wait until the cruise to see if they are going to play POTC II. I don't think we can take that chance. I can't wait to see it!!!!

By the way, my desktop on my laptop is of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack. I love seeing it everytime a flip open my laptop. :teeth:

OK, I guess I'm down blabbing for one day. Hope everyone has a wonderful evening.

When is everyone leaving? I know some are leaving several days prior.

I cannot wait for the sail away party. I cannot imagine what it will be like. I look forward to all the dancing myself. Well, I will have to make sure that my son's are far away. They get embarrassed when mom has fun. Go figure. :rotfl:[/QUOTE]

We are leaving on 7/13 going to carribean beach then will meet my parents after cruise and stay until 7/25 back at the carribean beach. Then go home :sad2: :(

Me and my DH have been on a few cruises but this will be my DS first. I really don't think he realizes how big the ship will be so when we actually see it for the first time I can't wait to see his face :goodvibes

Ha!! Never thought of that. :scratchin I tried to use the walkie talkies at Busch Gardens one time, and i had difficutly hearing the kids, but it worked enough for us to get in contact. Just took a little patience and time to decode.

:rotfl2: what a sweet daughter.

I will see what I can find here. If I can find some at that price, I will do it.

Thank you for the tip on rebooking. I will do that. That will save a lot of time.

I was reading a trip report or a post somewhere ( they are all blending together now) that another cruise a couple of weeks ago ended up leaving at like 10 pm. That would be awesome. I really want to see that sunset, and I heard that the street performers are awesome.

Oh my, now I am getting giddy. :goodvibes

My 10 yr old has never seen a ship like this up close. He has seen aircraft carriers etc, which are a whole different ballgame. I cannot wait to see his face either. It is priceless, those jawdropping moments of our children. :)

We will be leaving from Tampa the morning of the cruise. When we cruise out of Port Canaveral we usually leave anywhere from 8am-10am. I can bet you that we WILL be leaving at 8:00am. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive. I think I told you this all before way back. Sorry, sometimes these posts start to blurr all together.

You will enjoy the sail away party. It's a magical start to the cruise!! My kids will be dancing right along with me. Well at least DD. I keep forgetting DS is growing up and is all of 8. (well almost 9)

I promise I will never tell. I think that is a great idea to go with a girlfriend. I may have to let DH take the kids and I will go with the girls!!! :woohoo:

We leave on July 13 for the drive down. DD10 was suppose to have dance camp that week, but not enough girls signed up. So, we may leave about noon instead of 6:00 pm. That will allow us to get to Cape Canaveral earlier in the day, to perhaps enjoy some beach time.

By the way, it is 9:10 pm, and the Magic is still at Key West! There is hope for sunset at Mallory Square yet.

Isn't that great! I keep checking myself and seeing it still in port at this time gets me more and more excited!!!! Ok, I need to control my excitement now. I have to try not to get my hopes up.

Does anyone know how far the 24 hour Ron Jon's surf shop is from the Radisson at the Port?

We were thinking of checking it out, but aren't renting a car for our time at Cape Canaveral.

While I'm on the subject.......can anyone tell me what things are close to the Radisson...like restaurants, etc within walking distance?

Thanks so much!!!!

It is past 11:00 pm, and the Magic is still at Key West!

Although I will not let myself be convinced that it will stay that late in two weeks. But it will be a nice surprise if it is.
