Please let me know what you find out about the train.....my daughter is 7, but gets tired easily.....so, I am interested in doing something fun in each port, but realize we can't do it all!!!! We did one thing in each of the Western C. ports and have wonderful, I mean magical (haha) memories!!!!! (holding baby sea turtles and an activity with the dolphins!!) This one, Alaska.... will be "wonderful" memories!!!!!!!! ~Carol

In case anyone wants some additional info the site address for the white pass and yukon rr is "wpyr.com" lots of info. one thing i was told on my first alaskan adventure you want to ride on the side of the rail car that faces the downward side of the mountain not the side of the mountain. just don't remember which side that is.
has anyone thought about a meet and great or what ever disboard calls it? with the great bunch of kids going and age differences would be nice if they cud meet each other.
am working on off ship adventures. did find out from dis just in case u pick a side trip that includes a salmon bake there are other things to eat. my wife is not a salmon fan.

I am not sure what your daughter might be interested in bit in Skagway there is dog sledding on grass. Or I think the real name is Mushers camp. My mom and I are doing that.

Hi.....Thanks for the idea...I think it is great...(and I would like to do it,) however my daughter is (unfortunately) allergic to both dogs and grass....so, I have to look for other activities!
What hotels are people staying in before the cruise??? Disney's Fairmont is soooooo pricey!!!!! ~Carol

We looked at this and the actual time on the sled is only 15 minutes and 1 1/2 miles. Seemed a little short so we decided to pass on that.

We wanted to take the train but it was too expensive for the overnight room. We also checked air fares and finally decided we could save quite a bit by driving. We have a camping cabin reserved at the Sacramento KOA for the first night and we are staying with relatives in Portland the second night. We have a park and sail room reserved in Vancouver (1 night stay plus 8 nights parking). Not exactly looking forward to the long drive with 2 kids but this saves us the money for excursions. Plus we don't have to worry about all the luggage.

Do we want to put together a meet after boarding? Curt and I were thinking about somewhere around the kids pool. We could try to get there early, grab a table and display some sort of sign so everyone would know it was the DIS group.
