**JULY 11, 2010*** Double Dip Wonder!

Jim or Stacey - have you ever used Stuart Cove's in Nassau? Saw this on the travel channel and would love to try these.

I've actually been looking at them for Nassau. I know that there is beautiful snorkeling in the area, but the ships' excursions just don't take people far enough. I'd already decided that this is who I want to try to book with.
GMTA!

I think it's funny that if you look at reviews on Cruise Critic, people call it Stuart's Cove. :rotfl: The owner's name is Stuart Cove. ;)

Is Aunt Stacey bringing Pooh Bear?
What about Scoopie - can he come too?

#13 - Mascot reunion - Deck 9....:dance3:

I thought about that after I asked about Bear and Hedgie. Poor Pooh hasn't had a trip since Jared hit his teens. I might be able to smuggle him away.....even though (ssshhh...don't tell anyone) he still has a prominent spot near Jared's bed. I'll have to locate his awesome pirate costume.

We have not dove with them, I think Jim did the shark dive there.....I was thinking of a dive with them as well Mary (but not the shark dive.)

I wonder if you book with them but not through the ship, if the dive/snorkel is a better package?

Stacey - I'll check your site as well.

yes. Matt and I did our shark dive with them. Easy to use. It is the full day. They pick you up at the dock and will bring you back. I think we got back at 5:30 or 6. At that time we had early dining and we were late for it.

Frankly, unless you are doing some special dive, diving in Nassau is not worth it. Your reefs are much better then Nassau. We loved it because of the shark dive. I want to do their wall flying and will be looking into that.

So are you saying it wouldn't be a good snorkel trip? I thought it looked like it would be worth it, and fun, too.
You need to remember that we don't need to see the exotic stuff or be thrilled by sharks. We're happy as long as there are some colorful fishies to look at.

Also remember that for some of us, going down in these gizmos is as close to diving as we get. :thumbsup2 Like Stacey said, long as there is fun sights to see we're happy.

And what is this 'your reef' stuff, if there's a reef in Lake Michigan, I don't think anyone could find it if they wanted to from what I've heard of the visbility down there. :rotfl2:

The only way to book with Stuart Cove's is through them. We did a snorkel with one of the ships' excursions one time and it didn't even take us out of the harbor where the ship is docked. The most interesting thing we saw there was an old tire.
I don't know if they would combine the snorkelers with the divers. We did it once in Costa Maya, but they took the divers in a separate boat, so they could go further out.
The way I see it, anyplace away from the port area in Nassau would be worth a try, otherwise, there's no point in getting off the ship. And I refuse to be docked and not get in the water.

I know you divers "have to" dive...it's something in the blood. But for the rest of us, I think this looks like great fun if a bunch of us booked it, even just to sail out, get wet, have some lunch and enjoy eachother's company.

Good morning everyone!

We sail in 64 weeks!

My bad. I thought I was replying to Irene. Anything is better then what you have in Lake Michigan.

For this trip, if you want to snorkel I would recommend Nassau vs CC.

SC has lots of boats that leave from the same dock and they have lots of different types of adventures. They even have a hard hat type of dive.

Snorklers and divers could all ride over together.

Jim sure is starting his pot-sitting early on this thread!! :stir:

What did I do now?

Nothing really....just trying to confuse us people who have no dive sites.

The only time we had good snorkeling at CC was when we took the excursion out to the shallow reef. It was really good. But we headed out there another time, seas were too rough, so we ended up at a different one that wasn't nearly as good.
At Serenity Bay, the only interesting thing I saw was the two slugs mating.

We really enjoyed the snorkeling at Serenity Bay last April.

When I checked their website - I thought you could book and charter seperately.

Jim - how to tell Stacy and me apart -

1. Put us on a boat.
2. Put the boat in the water.
3. Put the waves in the water.
4. The one hanging over the side turning green is me.
5. The percky one is Stacy.

Stacy - that was a beautiful trip - We have tried to grab it again to no avail, every other time it was cancelled, such that we tried the walk and sea kayak on the Panama Cruise. Maybe we will snag a snorkel on the Wedding Cruise?????? Say yes!
