Judi and Steve's (now) Wishes 8/3/2010 WP/WHR/UKLS - Dessert Party Pics (8/23)

I love your dress!!! I really like how flowy it is. I am sure you will look stunning!!

The dress I got was the only dress I ever tried on. I drove four hours to see it in the wrong size and wrong color and no one would go with me - so I too went alone. I thought it was great - I was in and out in a flash.

Can't wait to see pics!!

Hi,

Sorry I have not been posting - been lurking and active on the forum. I have quite a few updates.

- First is that I upgraded to a Wishes wedding. This was due to the added costs of the elements I wanted to add to our Escape wedding. We were getting so close the the Wishes minimums. So in discussions with Kathleen our Escape planner she thought we would benefit from the upgrade. That happened two weeks ago. My planner had to change so now I have Diane Bowen - we have already had our planning call.

- Second my MOH and bridesmaid got their dresses. If you have been through this post we originally discussed either blue or green. Then my neice found this grey dress that she really likes - it was beautiful. However they could not find in England a matching dress that would complement my more mature MOH. So they found some yellow dresses and this is what they got.

I love how summery the dresses are. Forgive the poses as they are showing me the shoes. For the shoes this is a little family inside humor as a tribute to my my Mother who always had sparkly or metalic shoes as old ladies do.

Info on my floral next......

funny on the BMs pics - doing the can-can!! and your dress will be very pretty! there was a lovely young tiny thing trying that dress on next to me in my giant nothing fits me cupcake ensemble when i bought my dress!! eek!!

david's didn't try to sell me the exact dress i tried on, maybe because it was a new style and the didn't have it in anything approaching my sze or even a plus size at the time that they could try and talk me into paying to alter! however, only later did it occur to me that they didn't even measure me to help talk me into or out of what size to order! i thought that was weird but at the time i was feeling very out of body and i had gone by myself so i was just in a weird haze!

I though it was more of a Capt Morgan pose myself but that is probably where my mind is, not the Moulin Rouge.

I'm not a small slip of a girl myself - I don't think Davids Bridal measure. I went to Nordstroms before trying any wedding dresses and tried on a few of the evening dresses there to guage my size. So when I went Wedding Dress shopping I knew to try on size 12 or 14 dresses based on that and it worked. Funny Lisa that they didn't try harder to find you a dress or recomend a size for the one you did try.

I changed the original idea for my floral and removed the irises. Not only as I think it will be too much color but irises are quite a delicate flower and don't last very long - instead I am having a mix of medium yellow roses, light yellow roses and ivory roses. The ivory is to match my dress. I have requested open roses. The bouquet will be tied with a silver grey ribbon. The grooms bout will be a medium yellow rose. I am also getting bridesmaid flowers to match but smaller. Though now I have seen their dresses I might remove the medium yellow from their bouquets and just have the light yellow and ivory for them - what do you think? Will that look better? Will the medium yellow clash with the color of the MOH/BM dresses when up next to them?

Here is the color for the medium yellow roses:

This shows the color for the light yellow roses:

For the wedding pavilion I like this below.
aisleswagclustersrunnerpetals-1.jpg

I have asked Rosie to price it out as follows:
- Aisle swag
- Aisle floral clusters for the swag. Asked if there also an option to have
the swag tied on with ribbon bows instead of flower clusters, maybe in
the grey ribbon to match the accents on the other floral (Has anyone else done this?)
- Paper aisle runner
- Aisle petals

I may have to cut something out from the pavillion if my overall budget gets to big.

We are going to do a sand ceremony to include DF's two sons who are also the groomsmen (DF is not having a best man just his two boys and we did not want to call one better than the other :thumbsup2). Here is the Disney sand ceremony set. The colors will be, white for me, black for DF, blue of eldest son and purple for youngest son (purple is his favorite color and he is always looking for purple clothes).
Sand_elements.jpg

Not sure if I am thrilled with Disney's set but it does make it easier to get it through them. Sill debating on whether to get my own and take it with us.

For the altar we discussed low square vases with roses and grey ribbion tied around the vase, these will then be transfered to the Whitehall Room for dinner and placed on our roman table. I had to be quite insistent that I wanted them moved to the Whitehall room, I got the feeling that they prefer not to do this. This picture was my inspiration - thank you Gina and Steve!

The vases will be placed either side of the sand ceremony.

I have thought long and hard on what I wanted to do do as far a memorial to my parents and I am having a memorial candle with floral and a ribbon that says Mum and Dad. However I am not having the candle at the wedding pavilion - I am finding that too emotional. I may burst into the wrong kind of tears at the ceremony when seeing it. Instead I am going to have the candle at the Whitehall room - where we can also have a picture. Mum and Dad also loved a party and get together so we will be able to toast them there. Here is the pic I got from Rosie - the floral will be yellow.

That's it for now - next will be the reception.......

just got caught up!!

First, your dress is lovely. I saw that dress online after purchasing mine and kicked myself for not trying it one! When I went to DB's, I didn't know at that time either that you take home the dress you try on if it's the right size. I'm SO glad you were able to get a new dress! I personally hate the idea of buying something so expensive that a ton of people tried on. Thankfully you were able to bypass that!

I love your BM's dresses. Of course I'm a big fan of yellow - I think they'll look amazing in pictures. We made our own sand ceremony kit for less than $10 and we loved it. I like the Disney one, but I think if you can find your own it will be MUCH cheaper. You only have to deal with transporting it to Orlando. Kathleen helped clean up the alter table after our ceremony...even if the sand ceremony wasn't provided by Disney. That's neat you upgraded to Wishes though!! Sad that you won't have Kathleen anymore but I'm sure Diane will take care of you!

all caught up now too. I love your dress! I think it's so elegant!

I actually used to work at David's when I was in college and I can tell you that it is their policy to sell the dress off the rack. We were not supposed to order a dress if it was in stock in a bride's size. The only exception would be if the dress was not in good condition. I really hated that, but we were told that was how they were able to offer such low prices and stock so many dresses in different sizes. I'm not sure about the not measuring thing though since we did measure the brides if we had to order, although sometimes you knew they just needed a size up so you might not in those cases. Lol, that was probably way more info than you needed to know!

I love the flowers, I think I like the lighter yellow better since I think it will show up against their dresses better. I think the medium will blend in too much, but I don't think it would clash.

hey love the dresses and the shoes!:goodvibes yeah for being a wishes bride too!

Thank you - I think they will look great!

Thanks. Yes the dress is good - though I am not built like the model in the picture but everyone said it was flattering. I will check out some other options for the sand ceremony kit, but having Disney do it just makes it easier. Kathleen was great but I already like my new planner Diane she was great to talk to and good with suggestions.

That makes sense now on Davids Bridal - I can see the reasoning. I'm glad that I didn't have to much trouble getting them to order my dress, it was in a pretty bad way, I was really concerned when they pulled me back to get the seemstress opinion. Thanks on the flower opinion for the bridal party. I think I will keep the darker yellow in for the MOH and BM. As the yellow roses are in tribute to my Mum, I will feel bad if only I get them in my bouquet and not theirs to. She was their Mum and Grandmother too. They will also have a mixture of yellow, light yellow and ivory.

Hi All:

I thought I would divert away from the wedding a little and tell you about the rest of the time we will be at Disney. Our total trip will be 14 days, from 24 Jul to 7 Aug. Eight of us will be there for the full 14 days, with the Deluxe Dining Plan these are:

Me
Groom
MOH – My eldest Sister (Birthday while at Disney)
Bridesmaid – Niece (15, will turn 16 at Disney)
Groomsman – DF youngest Son (15, will turn 16 at Disney)
Best friend form England and her two children (14 & 6 years old, first timers)

DF’s family will arrive on 29 Jul and stay till 4 Aug, with the Dining Plan. They are:

Mother of the Groom (first timer)
Father of the Groom (first timer)
My future SIL, her husband and daughter (9 years old)

DF’s oldest Son can only get a couple of days off work as he just started a new job and will arrive on 2 Aug and depart on 4 Aug.

We are using the time to vacation and celebrate with our families. It’s not possible for us to all get together very often as we live so far apart. As well as planning our wedding I am also the elected “tour guide” and have been planning our days, coordinating with the other ‘travelers’ and making ADR’s. When looking at the ADR’s please keep in mind I have two unadventurous eaters who could not order anything at say a Cali Grill and don’t eat seafood, I am pushing it with Kozzina but DF really wants to eat there. We also have a 9 year old so Characters a must :thumbsup2. I don’t want the unadventurous eaters to just order Steak every night. I also considered that my best friend from England who is a single Mum may not get to Disney again for a long time so we are maximizing the time at the parks. Here is a rundown of what we have scheduled:

Sat 24 Jul – Arrival day!
All taking DME and meeting at the Caribbean Beach Resort (CBR). Current plan it to eat at the resort and relax for the evening.

Sun 24 Jul
Blizzard Beach
As this is the favorite activity of the two Birthday teenagers. They got to pick this day. It also will give the members coming from England a chance to relax, snooze and catch up on their jet lag. We will also use our free DxDDP voucher to play the Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course just outside Blizzard Beach. I am still trying to figure out the best way to get and have Birthday cake at this location or have it in the room the night before.
ADR’s
-Ragland Road in the evening (if we can pry the teenagers away from the water park!)

Mon 26 Jul
Morning - Magic Kingdom

Evening - Magic Kingdom for parade and fireworks

Tue 3 Aug - Wedding day!
More about this day later!

Wed 4 Aug –Sister’s Birthday-DF’s family depart
Morning Lazy Day at resort.
As this is my Sister’s Birthday I asked her what she wanted to do and she decided on a lazy day and dinner in the evening. I deliberated for quite some time on where and what to do for dinner. I sort advice from the DisBoards and I have settled on Hoop-Dee-Doo review. Reasons are: None of us have been before, we are having a lot of typical restaurants dinners and I am restricted on locations with the unadventurous eaters. We will have had steak at the reception and been in EPCOT for the DP. We will also be caked out by this time! HDDR will be completely different. I am still not sure if this is the right decision and I hope that she enjoys it, if not we will have to keep plying her with the Sangria and make up for it.
ADR's
- HDDR 7.15pm show

Thu 5 Aug
Morning - Universal Studios
Afternoon
Evening - Either stay at Universal or decide to do somewhere else

Fri 6 Aug
Free day to go anywhere we want to go back and visit!

Sat 7 Aug
Departure day

None of this is set in stone and we can deviate (well apart from the wedding day:rotfl:). I have this schedule set up in business card format, on the back of the cards I have all the park hours, parade and firework schedules. Each day I only have to carry one card with me with all the information we need. I will also have other sets so that each branch of the family and teenagers has a card. Then if someone peels off to do their own thing we can meet up at the restaurants for the ADR’s later.

So what do you think?

I think the plans sound great except that Liberty Tree no longer has characters so if you only booked it for a character meal maybe try somewhere else. We are leaving the park on our MK day to have a late lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe not too adventurous but not as many so-so reviews as LTT.

so exciting!!!!

Yes it is - I am surprisingly calm. Just really looking forward to the vacation and the wedding.

Thanks for the information I'll check out the cafe - it would be nice to ride the monorail for the first time this trip! I'll also look at some other options. :thumbsup2

What? Yes you HAVE to rode the monorail this trip it's too cool!

Oops yes I have been on the monorail but my 3 first timers travelling with us have not.

I checked out the food at the GF cafe and it sounds yummy and there are selections for my plain food eaters and for us more adventurous types. So I made a ressie there too and will give them the option. It will be nice to take a break or if we have gone back to the resort that day for a swim/rest break we can head to the cafe before we go back to the park. My only problem will probably be getting out of the GF as I am sure they will want to look around as it is so beautiful.

I love your schedule!! Doesn't that make it seem so much more real and close? You must be getting super excited now! And good luck getting to Harry Potter!! I hope that you can make it in, but it seems like it is going to be quite busy for a while!!
