Judi and Steve's (now) Wishes 8/3/2010 WP/WHR/UKLS - Dessert Party Pics (8/23)

I received my BEO and Budget today. I do not have my floral costs yet but I am quite happy. It has come out to $10044.62. Keep in mind that I went for the more expensive food option for the dinner with a plated meal. I also have a bottle of my favorite wine red in here for $175 that they are bringing down from Citrico's! The bar is a based on consumption so I may or may not get money back in the end. I hope this helps others who are in the planing stage.

Here is the budget:

Congrats! Our estimates are almost exactly the same! Hopefully you are as happy with your as I am with mine!

I love all your details! If you dont' mind me asking are you shipping your dress down?

I am still a little on the fence on shipping the dress. Originally we were driving down so I was going to be able to hang it in the vehicle and also take my welcome bags. As DF's truck was stolen that made us change our plans, I looked at rental cars and really if we were renting we wanted a mini-van so we could have a vehicle while we were there for all 8. However I left it too late and there aren't any mini-vans available in the Washington DC area. I also checked on flights with DF and we ended up booking flights. We got flights for $480 for both of us which is not bad and cheaper than a rental car, gas, potentailly 2 hotel nights for the drive down and up etc.

I am happier that we are flying as I do not like long drives I get bored out of my mind and can't read as I get nauseous. Now I am left with a lot of stuff to get to Disney including my dress, DF's kilt ensemble (which is heavy) and two groomsmens suits. Plus all the stuff I bought for my welcome bags and DF's golf clubs.

Sorry this is turning into a long answer for a short question :rolleyes1 So while I am hesitant I think it makes sense to ship my dress, kilt and suits to Carol Allens so that we have less to carry and worry about on the plane. DME can take the suitcases to our rooms. I have seen on PJ/TR's where brides have shipped and it has not been a problem.

I'm sorry your DF's truck was stolen! I'm glad you were able to find a reasonable flight though.

I'm shipping my dress, and I actually feel better about that than I would bringing my dress through the airport. I think of it this way, UPS has never lost anything of mine but the airlines have lost or misplaced my luggage in the past, as recently as our trip last year. Plus with UPS you can insure it and will have tracking information. I'm going to have Carolyn Allen's steam the dress so it is just easier to send it right to them.

Oh now that you put it like that yes, you are so right! My bags have travelled by themselves and caught up to me later many times. In my last job I did a lot of business travel. One time I was trying to get on a earlier connecting flight home and the guy at the counter at the gate old me he could not do that as you can't travel without your bag as it won't be on the same flight. I laughed and laughed and so did he when I said my bag had traveled without me many times and it would be alright. After several minutes of joking and chatting he did put me on the earlier flight and made the request to transfer my bag even though I was fully prepared to go back to the airport to pick it up later at home. We had a small airport where I lived then.

For dinner I removed the appetizer so that there is not too much food with the dessert party later, and with the picky eaters here is our plated menu:

Cesar Salad Plated Table Side

Beef Filet and Tarragon Demi paired with a Lobster Tail
with Grand Marnier Buerre Blanc, Truffled Mashed Potatoes, and Fresh Seasonal Vegetables

Wedding Cake

There will be a couple of people who will not want the lobster tail but others will take two! So it will work out.

We are having a two layer mad hatter for our cake in our wedding colors - I can't wait to see it :cool1:

Disney are also getting DF's favorite beer from Epcot - Carlsberg from Norway brought over and we are also getting a bottle of my favorite wine Tignello that they carry at Citrico's.

We looked at the dessert party menus. DF and I liked some items on one menu and other items on another menu. We were able to modify and choose the cutomized menu withh the items we wanted. We are having:

Assorted Cup Cakes
Mini Cheese Cakes
S'Mores Bars
Key West Lime Tarts
Fruit Tarts
Chocolate Fudge Brownies

Based on consumption bars at both locations.

I also contacted Randy Chapman and added an hour to our photography so we will now have him from 1pm to 5pm.

Your almost there!!! Everything is coming together well. Yeah for your BEO...not bad, not bad at all! :cheer2:

Just read through all the posts.

I think you will be glad to have added Randy on for an hour. We added so he could come to our lunch. Even though I haven't seen the pictures I know he got a lot of great shots.

Your dress is very elegant. (I only went to one store too.)

Love that you are letting your flower girl be princesses.

I had a magical wedding but I kind of wish it hadn't yet happen so I could still have fun planning :) I will just live vicariously through you all.

Thanks Amyy - Yes I feel much better now that I have added the extra hour for the photography. Thank you on the dress I only hope I look elegant in it! :rotfl:

I don't know what I will do when the wedding is finished...I have signed up to go back to school to get a degree in Hospitality Management, I also expect work to get even more busy as I have a large conference to put on in January. Hopefully that will fill the void :confused3

I have finalized my floral. Through the course of this wedding floral became important to me even though I don't know much about them. Again the change to a wishes wedding caused a change in my floral consultant from the Escape consultant. Working with both was great but Warren for the Wishes was super responsive and regonized that we were so close. He had some great suggestions.

I made a couple of changes to my bouquet. I discussed with Disney floral that I wanted to make my bouquet a bit more distinctive than my MOH and bridesmaid bouquets. With the Escape we all had the same flowers just theirs were smaller. So we have added in yellow orchids and yellow iris. Iris are my favorite flowers and you will see from my original planning I wanted iris but they will be yellow not the blue in the pictures at the begining of my PJ. I am so excited and can't wait to see it. Now I wonder if I need the keepsake floral, I guess I should decide soon. :)

I added in four more vases of roses. I really needed them for the roman table at the reception, as the two in my orignal proposal on the altar table would look lost with such a long roman table at the reception. To get the most out of them I am also using the additions in the Wedding Pavilion on columns on either side at the first the third pews. I am hoping the look will frame us in the photographs.

Here is the proposal so other brides can get an idea on the costs. I have wiped out the personal information.

As you will see the costs do add up :rolleyes1 I am also being British and everyone is getting some floral. In the UK it is typical for everyone at the wedding to get a boutineer - typically they are a carnation.

Your floral sounds great. I love the addition of the irises and orchids.

I wanted to post my BEO and Floral as well but I don't know how you have been able to post the pages like that... can you share?

I opened the files and did 'Save As', from the 'Save as Type' drop down I scrolled down and choose .PDF, check the box that says open file after publishing.

When it opens in PDF click on 'Edit' from the menu bar, then select 'Copy File to Clipboard', open Paint (or another picture editing software) and choose to 'Paste'. I then used the paint tools to wipe out the personal information and saved. I had to go back the do the copy file to clipboard funtion for each page. So each page ended up as separate files.

I then uploaded the files I created in Paint into Photobucket and pasted in the IMG link just like a photograph.

There may be a shorter or better way to do this but this was the only way I could think of with the tools I have on my computer.

I leave this Saturday - it is so hard to concentrate at work! ;)

DF got his kilt, shirt, socks, gillie shoes, tie, flashes and sporan at the weekend. However the vest and jacket were missing :scared1: They are somewhere between Scotland and the store in Arizona we ordered the outfit from. :scared1: So they are express shipping one of their rental jackets and vests so that he has a complete outfit for the wedding! :headache:

Wow I can't believe you're this close!! Congrats - I can't wait to see your pictures!

I know I can't quite believe it myself - hopefully I can post a few sneak peeks as we are taking the laptop

Yes excited and just so ready for a break. It will be so nice to be back having so much fun. At the moment I am really glad that I have the time before the wedding to get relaxed and enjoy ourselves. Can't wait to see my Sister, Niece and friends on Saturday! Yeah just a few little things left really and we mailed off the two boxes this evening with the welcome bags so that one more is off the list. Price for FedEx ground was really reasonable.
