Juan says "BAAAA!" - 12/24 - Our last few Disney hours. COMPLETE

Joe suggested we go see what we could see of the pool. I told him it was behind a gate and we would need a room key to get in.

643621048_AVQmG-M.jpg

Pretty flowers on the way to the pool. Ignore the dead one in the upper left.

Well, lookie here! How convenient.

643620604_2mrBx-M.jpg

Shhhh….don’t tell, k? ;)

643609316_CFZqD-M.jpg

Looking back toward the resort from the pool area. Perhaps one of these will be our room in December! One thing that is odd is you have to walk near parking/roadway to get to the pool, I suppose it's because of how the savannahs stretch pretty much all the way around the resort.

Along the sidewalk

Light fixture at the pool bar

Like the lobby, I had read the pool itself was small and many people were under-whelmed by the entire area.

Once again, not me!

We both thought the pool was certainly large enough-it’s not Jambo House large, but that is the largest pool on property, so I didn’t expect it to match.

643616237_PfcF3-M.jpg

See the stroller in the pic? There are a few shallow stairs to go down to get to the pool area. The ramp for wheelchairs/ECVs is along the edge of the back fence-you have to go waaaaaay out of the way to avoid the stairs. Kinda annoying if you are in a wheelchair.

The little slide

The other side of the pool

Granted, it was a slow season, so I might have a changed mind on the size come our NYE trip if it’s swimming weather….

643621481_9agKq-M.jpg

We then found the little tots play area. What a GREAT area! They have a cool playground built right next to the splash zones and the kiddy pool. The kiddy pool is more like a kiddy puddle, it’s puny-but it is zero entry which allows the kids to run in and out of it, and all over the area without slowing down.

643615135_SjZJT-M.jpg

Which is exactly what Henry did before we could even think twice! We had taken Henry out of his stroller to explore and play a bit on the playground,

643621125_2aEDF-M.jpg

but he found that water even more inviting….

643600896_ZmtYM-M.jpg

He had never run through a splash pad like this before, it always intimidated him a bit and he’d stick his hand in or get really close and then run away. This was full on “I want to get soaked” fun.

We let him play for a few minutes, there was a CM watching us and never complained that he wasn’t in a swimsuit since he wasn’t truly swimming-he was just running through the sprayers and there wasn’t any other kids around. I felt a tad guilty – is this considered pool hopping? :scared: But, on the other hand, he was having such a great time and finally getting cooled off, and just having the time of his life! Joe and I were laughing and enjoying watching him play.

643612288_D3iCg-M.jpg

After about 5 minutes or so, an older girl, maybe about 7 came over and would purposely aim the sprayer to hit Henry directly. This scared him, and he would run away. She laughed and did it again.

I gave her my best “Mad Mommy” look and led Henry over to the playground-he could slide while this girl was over in the little kids area.

Then she proceeded to spray JOE. Joe was sitting with our VIDEO CAMERA on a bench just on the side of the splash area (another great idea Disney-perfect spot for Mom & Dad to watch!) and she completely soaked him and the stroller and the camera.

He didn’t say anything and I didn’t see it.

Then I DID see her do it and I had to say something!

I was nice, but firm. She got the picture, apologized and scampered off. And thankfully, our camera was okay.

We allowed Henry to go back into the splash area-he was thrilled! A few more minutes of little boy laughs,

643601380_SFbzw-M.jpg

and then it started to drizzle just slightly.

By this time I was wet too-I had picked Henry up when he was sliding, and Joe was soaked from the little girl, and Henry…well, he was wetter than Joe and I combined! We didn’t mind the slight drizzle at all, but the clouds were starting to look nasty, so we thought we'd change Henry, and head out of Kidani.

643603817_KgfpR-M.jpg

I couldn't go very far into the area-you WILL get wet! (and so will your camera!)

643600824_5Ktmy-M.jpg

This looks like a lovely place to relax...

643610811_DH7xY-M.jpg

643605107_fJM5v-M.jpg

I love the palm trees through the roof!

As we walked to the bus I gave Joe the option of our next agenda item fully thinking he would choose to go back to the resort… “We could do DTD or go back to our resort.”

“DTD!”

:woohoo:

Would it be a mistake with those threatening clouds though???

Henry was still all smiles from his fun at the splash pad.

It didn’t take too long and a bus pulled up and we were on our way.

Up next: Rastafari Henry!

OMG, great pictures of Kidani Village! We have reservations for there in April that we aren't sure if we're going to use but now I really really want to! Ahh it looks amazing. :goodvibes

Unfortunately for you, CP can't answer you, because she's in Disney World!

Great pictures! Love seeing Henry having so much fun. Sheer joy!

A man that suggests going to a shopping area? Gotta love that! :goodvibes

I will do replies later tonight, we are about to run and grab some dinner-then I have errands to run and I have to pack my suitcase...tomorrow I'm going away for a girlfriends scrapbooking weekend!

This non-crafty girl is going to attempt to finally do a scrapbook. I've had the materials (complete with suggested layouts!) for 2 years now...it's about time, eh?!

I love the pictures of Henry playing in the water. He is too cute!

I just noticed Henry's haircut. He looks so much older in that picture. :earsboy:

Kathy

Those water pics are priceless!

Have a good weekend!

Better late than never!! I'm here!!

Great TR as always, Brook! Once again, you are giving me a glimpse of how it is to travel with a toddler at the exact age we'll be traveling with our toddler. We are going again in January so Jack-Jack will be nearly 2, so this is a perfect preview for me to prepare for our trip!

Glad y'all's trip went so well so far!!

Kidani looks amazing!!

Have fun scrapbooking! Mine has been packed away since May and I am itching to go. Those weekends are great fun!

Oh my, Kidani is beautiful. What a great place to call "home"!

I love the pictures of Henry playing in the water, he just looks like he's having so much fun. And I just have to say, the new pics in your siggy - he looks so terribly grown up with that big boy haircut!

Have a great girls scrapbooking weekend. I'm so far behind on mine, I need a girls weekend to do that too, mind if I tag along?

I really enjoyed walking through the trails with you! We never take the time to do them, but I'm thinking we'll have to do them in December. Great pictures of the safari, too!

Denise

We had never done the trails before this trip either-I wish we had gotten them both done, but something for next trip! They really are neat, I'm hoping that is a less crowded area during December.

I have the nifty fifty too. It's a great lens.

I've read great things about it. Maybe Joe and I should consider that our cheap gift to each other for Christmas...:scratchin

ADORABLE!!

Looks like a fun (even if hot) day so far!

Thank you! :goodvibes It was a really fun day, a great way to start the trip!

Once again, your pictures are so incredibly beautiful. I know that AK is such a pretty park, and just as you that's one of the reasons I love it. But my pictures are not nearly as good as yours!!! :worship:

My sister and I will go on the "Wild by Design" tour in January that is all about the details of AK. I am very excited about it and am looking forward to it very much. I hope to get a lot of backstory to all those wonderful details! :goodvibes

Thank you! I feel like my pictures don't do the park justice-it's just so pretty! Half the fun of going to that park is seeing all those details. There is always something different that you've never seen before to look at.

That will be a GREAT tour, I can't wait to read your TR about it!!! :yay: I wonder if you'll learn all about what Beastly Kingdom would have been too?

sounds like a great time! i loved reading this! i want more! :thumbsup2 did you only go to animal kingdom? when i saw the pictures of Henry with Pluto... it was a total kodak moment! very precious!:teeth:

Thanks!! We only went to Animal Kingdom that day, but the following days we hit all the parks. Lotsssss more to come!! It was a great moment with Pluto and Henry, I just wish we had captured his big smile too!

I stumbled onto your TRs and I'm addicted! We are leaving tomorrow morning for a long weekend at the WL, and I am so amped now at seeing all your pictures and reading about all that tasty food! Thanks for posting! :cloud9:

Also, thanks for posting about your DVC experiences and explorations. We are starting to toss the idea around, and hearing your perspective on it was interesting. Also, congrats on the "job change." ;)

Welcome!!! Thank you for reading. :goodvibes And :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: the WL!!!! Have a wonderful and magical trip!

Your welcome on the DVC info-we are still newbies to it all, but feel free to ask any questions you might have.

I love those strawberry bars!! Yum!! What a special picture with Henry and Pluto with his new stuffed Pluto. Adorable. :)

I really liked the Strawberry bar too-I don't even recall ever seeing them in the parks before. I feel like it might have been a tad healthier than an Itzakadoozie too...;)

The time with Pluto was really sweet! I'm glad Joe was quick on grabbing the camera!

All caught up. Great AK pics. Fun interaction with Pluto!

Thanks! I just got caught up over on yours today too.

I can't believe how far behind I've fallen... and how big Henry's gotten! Happy 2nd birthday little buddy! He's the cutest. The resort looks gorgeous and as always, you took fabulous pictures. I'm glad you had a great first few days!

Thank you!!! No worries on falling behind-it happens easily. Real life gets in the way all too often. ;)

Hi Brook!
Just had to say, love the new ticker and new pics, please tell me you just did that and I haven't been completely spaced out and just missed it? LOL!! Anyways, too cute!!!:cutie:

Huh? No, it's been there now for about 3 weeks.

JUST KIDDING! :rotfl2: Yep, I just added them last night. I played around FOREVER trying to get it to work with my old ticker too, and it just didn't all fit right. I still need to re-add the Cruise one too. I couldn't resist putting my little man in my siggy! :goodvibes

Just wanted to say I'm loving it, Brooke!

Hey Jaime! Thanks for reading along. I gotta get caught up on your TR!!

OMG, great pictures of Kidani Village! We have reservations for there in April that we aren't sure if we're going to use but now I really really want to! Ahh it looks amazing. :goodvibes

:yay: I'm so glad they have helped calm some of your uncertainty! I LOVED it. I really like Jambo House, and it holds a very special place for me being Joe and I stayed there for our Disneymoon - but Kidani, is just something even more special to me. It felt calm and intimate. :cloud9: I can't wait to stay there in December! I'll have ooooodles more pics from that trip too. :thumbsup2

Unfortunately for you, CP can't answer you, because she's in Disney World!

Great pictures! Love seeing Henry having so much fun. Sheer joy!

A man that suggests going to a shopping area? Gotta love that! :goodvibes

Ah! That's right! Today was CP's departure day! :yay: I didn't even get over to her TR over the past couple of days to say good-bye...:sad2: I'll have to get over there to give my well-wishes a bit late!

:rotfl: about Joe wanting to shop! He is a keeper. :lovestruc

I love the pictures of Henry playing in the water. He is too cute!

I just noticed Henry's haircut. He looks so much older in that picture. :earsboy:

Kathy

Thank you! It was fun to let him run around and enjoy cooling down.

I almost didn't put that pic in there because I wanted to keep his hair cut a surprise for the TR, but I couldn't resist. He grew up SO much in that 10 minute haircut. :sad1:

Those water pics are priceless!

Have a good weekend!

Thanks! He was squealing and laughing so much-it was a blast to watch him enjoy it so much. We hated to tear him away from it all.

I'm a bit nervous about the weekend...I've never been away from Henry for two nights in a row!!

Hey you!!! Welcome!! Glad you found me. :goodvibes

And :yay: for January!!! Touring with Henry this trip was, overall, great! He was into a lot more stuff and so much more interactive and excited about things. He recognized the characters more and had opinions about what to do. (which could result in an interesting experience too I suppose!)

The pictures of Henry playing in the water are great!

Thanks! It was really fun to watch him play. He was so excited about it all! I hope its warm enough to swim in December so he can enjoy it all again.

Kidani looks amazing!!

Have fun scrapbooking! Mine has been packed away since May and I am itching to go. Those weekends are great fun!

This is the first time I have ever been on this sort of weekend...I'm really looking forward to it all. We are staying at a bed & breakfast that specializes in hosting groups to do crafts-like scrapbooking. I guess the woman is a an AWESOME cook. I'm so looking forward to a big breakfast and hot coffee served to me. :cloud9: The thought of not making the coffee in the morning is incredibly appealing to me. This will also me my first attempt in a VERY long time at a scrapbook. I tried years ago and failed miserably. This kit comes with everything I need and layouts. How can I go wrong? If it even turns out reasonably well, I'll share!

It really is a beautiful resort! The layout is a bit strange with where the pool is, but overall, I loved it. That lobby, the hallways, the little rooms, the animals....ahhhh, so pretty! Is it December yet??? ;)

He looks so so grown up with his hair cut, I didn't want to "spoil" it for my TR, but I couldn't resist in putting that picture in too, I love how he's so deadpan and has no idea what Joe is doing with the plates.

You can tag along, sure! You going to fly into MN tomorrow? :rotfl2:

Love the new siggy. Have a great time scrapbooking, I try to go once a month.
I will answer for CP and say WE LOVE the giraffe carpet-oh my you are making me want to stay at Kidani.

Kidani looks amazing.

Oh my goodness Bill and I are in love with Henry, this picture is fantastic!!

643612288_D3iCg-M.jpg

Wonderful Kidani updates! We really need to make sure that we spend time exploring there when we stay at AKL! I am still annoyed about myself that when I stayed at POR in 2004, I never explored POFQ... :sad2: Must not let this happen with Kidani!!! :thumbsup2

Up next: Rastafari Henry!

I love the detail in the splash pool! The tiles with the little animals on them! I know, it's a little thing, but they really did some nice attention to detail. Henry, the adorable Henry!! Those pics are what Disney is all about, the fun and joy in his face is priceless!

Oh.... those pictures of Kidani bring back such great memories of this summer. It really is such a beautiful resort. Love it.

I love the pictures of Henry in the splash area. He is having such a blast. When I see pictures of that it makes me correct people when they say their two year old is too young for Disney. Never too young, never too old!

What a wonderful trip "home"!

I would have flipped my lid if that little girl had sprayed me!
