Journey into Imagination - Skunk smell still in hair! Please advise!

There is no way it is from the ride. Think about it - when you enter the smell chamber - you don't smell skunk - you only smell it for the brief moment that it is sprayed at you and holding your breath in that moment can avoid the smell completely. We have ridden it dozens of times and never have had the smell linger.

I agree it isn't even close to the real smell of a skunk either!!!

Maybe it's the smell of your shampoo/conditioner combined with the smell of Florida's chlorinated water??

I always hold my breath at that point. That way the smell can't linger in my olfactory nor my mind.

Never noticed any lingering smell on me or anyone else I was with.

Hope you find a solution!

I hold my nose as well. We always root for mint but it nevere works:rotfl2:

Could it be soemthing else?

The current version of the attraction has been open Since May 31, 2002. I have probably ridden it over a hundred times, along with lots of friends and family. You are the first person I have ever heard of who says that the scent has lingered at all.

Amen to that. I thought the post was a joke myself.

I reckon it would be something else , the smell has never seemed that strong to me in the ride and i could never imagine it lingering. They dont use real skunk juice obviously so i couldnt imagine there be any problems , if it was from that i wouldnt think it would be in your hair , maybe your nassal passages have become quite blocked keeping the smell :confused3

Otherwise i dont know and as others have said ive never heard of it before , if it had happened to lots of other people Disney would of done something.

I'm pretty sure it has to be something else or in the OP's imagination because I freaking love that ride and go on it all the time and never have I smelt bad afterward. :confused3

Totally agree with this -- I have never smelled a thing once we got past that part of the ride, and I've never ever heard anyone comment on this before.

We ride Journey Into Imagination often in the July and August heat, and have never noticed any lingering smell on our clothes or our hair.

Maybe it's the chlorine from the pool interacting with your hair products???

I hope you find a solution soon. :goodvibes

I was under the impression that the smell was "burnt coffee" or something like that.

They certainly don't actually spray you with a skunk's fluid.

Me Thinks We Been Trolled!!!

In fact, the "skunk" scent is old coffee beans. I learned that from some CMs who work at Imagination.

Interesting
I always thought it was like a burnt toast smell
must be a morning smell thing

This may seem odd to you, but the odor could be in your nasal passages. You could try a nasal rinse or neti pot sold at many pharmacies. It's painless.

thats exactly what i was thinking. also if it is in your hair try a medicated shampoo like t-gel or somthing along those lines

was this a trick or practical joke? they dont actually spray you with skunk musk. and ive never had it stick to me or my family or anyone else i know or heard of this and i have multiple friends that work at epcot, and trust me, i hear the stories, and would have heard of something like this.

I've never had it linger and I ride Figment multiple times in a row!

The scent is really burnt coffee. I think the coffee at WDW is usually burnt-tasting, so maybe your consumption of coffee is what you're smelling.

Don't have any coffee to drink, not even Frappuchinos
Put your used clothing in a plastic bag and tie it shut tightly, or launder it now.
Brush your teeth and tongue - use mouthwash
Swim and shower.
Use a neti pot or saline spray to cleanse your nasal passages.

If that doesn't work, you should see a ENT specialist.

My nose must have been stopped up, too, because I can't remember smelling anything - just every time being like "OH NO SKUNK!!" and then laughing!

I agree...if the OP is serious (and I am not doubting they are) the problem is unlikely to be from the ride. It is either pyschological or something else got on you. I certainly wouldn't bother with Tomato Juice...they are not spraying you with actual skunk scent. (As a PP says, real skunk is much, much worse than what they use on that ride.)

Does everyone around you smell it or is it just you? If it's just you if is either psychosematic, or it could be something trapped in your olfactories. I've had this problem myself with Chlorine. (I am a chemical engineer.) Not that you are supposed to sniff chlorine, but I was exposed to a chlorine leak, and I could smell it for weeks - when I pinched my nose, it was even stronger. It took a long time to go away.

We live a mile away from a coffee bean processing plant (Autocrat), and we always know when it's "coffee day!" the minute we step out our front door. Actually, I suspect we're smelling coffee burnoff day when they clean the drums out, but I've never gone up there and asked.
And yes, it's a musky, skunkish type smell and many visitors to our house ask if we have skunk problems. I would not be at all surprised to find out this is the scent used on the Figment ride.

I don't even think it remotely smells like a skunk, either. If you've lived in the country and smelled a skunk, you KNOW a skunk smell and it is a billion times worse than what in in that ride. We don't really think that smell is very strong or bad at all, truly. It's the psychological impact of seeing "SKUNK" on the display that gets you, not the actual smell, which is quite mild.

I totally agree with it not smelling like a skunk....I've always thought it smells like burnt coffee.

My hair picks up all kinds of odors after a day at the parks. I have NEVER noticed the Imagination odor lingering though.
