Journey into Imagination - Skunk smell still in hair! Please advise!

Here we are having a truly great time in Disney World. I am having an absolute blast except for the awful skunk smell that has been following me around since Sunday when we went on Journey Into Imaginaton. I have washed my hair a dozen times, even scrubbed it in our chlorinated pool (obviously not with shampoo in the pool) then came back to the room and scrubbed it twice. My hair will soon resemble straw. And will still stink! Is there anything I can do about this?

I've had friends who bathed skunked dogs in ketchup to get rid of the smell... I don't know if it works on humans or not.

(Edit: Maybe it's tomato juice... It's something in the tomatoes I guess.)

We only have V8 from Old Port Royale. ( we are at CBR) but DBF is going to douse me tomorrow. Yuck. I'll let you know if it works!

Tomato juice.

Our neighbors Samoyed (pure white in case you dont know) was PINK for a few days after her meet up with a skunk, and subsequent tomato juice bath.

Now about that Chili burp smell from Stitch........

Tomato juice will only cut it down not remove it.

If you have access to baking soda, use a couple tablespoons of that mixed with your shampoo should help to absorb the smell and wash it away. It may take a few times.

We recommend this with peroxide for the dogs that get sprayed (work as a tech).

The current version of the attraction has been open Since May 31, 2002. I have probably ridden it over a hundred times, along with lots of friends and family. You are the first person I have ever heard of who says that the scent has lingered at all.

I always hold my breath at that point. That way the smell can't linger in my olfactory nor my mind.

Never noticed any lingering smell on me or anyone else I was with.

Yup.
The aroma agent used in the ride is so slight (diluted and thin in the air) that it dissipates in the time it takes for one group of guests in vehicles to exit and the next group to arrive (mere seconds.)

Real skunk smell can linger for hours.

Shave it all off. On a serious note, you didn't by chance purchase that perfume they sell at Canada, did you?

I would like to point out that I am quite sure they aren't using real skunk musk for the ride. Therefore, the home remedies aimed at removing skunk odor won't work. Skunk musk is a base and the use of tomato juice is to have the acid neutralize it. I'm betting the stuff at disney is made with artificial scent and doesn't have the caustic oils of the real stuff. I honestly think if you are still smelling it you either really got sprayed somewhere or it is all in your mind. Do others smell it?

This may seem odd to you, but the odor could be in your nasal passages. You could try a nasal rinse or neti pot sold at many pharmacies. It's painless.

I don't even think it remotely smells like a skunk, either. If you've lived in the country and smelled a skunk, you KNOW a skunk smell and it is a billion times worse than what in in that ride. We don't really think that smell is very strong or bad at all, truly. It's the psychological impact of seeing "SKUNK" on the display that gets you, not the actual smell, which is quite mild.

I'm pretty sure it has to be something else or in the OP's imagination because I freaking love that ride and go on it all the time and never have I smelt bad afterward.

It's not actually skunk juice. I think the problem is your nose, not your hair.

I don't remember that smell being that potent..Maybe it is the nasal passages

I agree with the baking soda. Just pour your shampoo in your hand like normal, then add a heap of soda. Wash and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. It will also strip out all of the hairspray and other deposits.

Very true! We think it smells more like coffee in there!

I have to agree with others. This sounds like it has to be something else. I can't imagine the ride actually making your hair smell. It's got to be either imagination, psychological, nasal issues, another cause, etc.
Good luck solving it.
