Hugs Julie,

Your DH is in our thoughts and prayers. I'm glad to hear that he is doing better.

I'm also glad to hear that you were able to get some rest too.

If you need anything WISH-sis, please let us know.

Please be sure and take good care of you too at this time. (hugs)

Hello & Early Happy New Year to all my Faithful WISH friends!

I've been very remiss in posting lately due to life (what else is new), but I've been thinking about you all & praying for you all!

We're having another WEIRD New Mexico snow storm - 6" on the ground at my house & still coming down. The desert is really strange covered in Snow! I'm hoping to get a walk in later & take some pics. Personally, I LOVE SNOW!!!

DH is home & doing well. Had a follow up with his regular dr today. Not even sure why they booked it, nor was the Dr. Reassuring, huh??? He starts Cardiac Rehab on 1/15.

DS20 is still employed. He's been trained on the Zamboni & is loving driving it. At the hockey game Tues, they turned out all the lights except for a spotlight on him & had him on the 'jumbotron' while he did the ice & they plaid the 'Zamboni Man' song. Said he was shaking like a leaf. Silly kid!! He's still not making good choices, but seems to be improving. His car is still broken, so I'm playing chauffer, which I HATE. He's going to be surprised when I give him my bill for GAS, but it's 17 miles RT to his work which is about 1 gallon in my van, so he needs to pay.

Off to take him to work, so I'll finish this later.......

Well, I didn't get back on last night. It's 6 am now & I've been up since 3. We have over 16" of snow & it's still coming down. Last night DS17 & I walked to his girlfriends to care for their dogs as they are stranded at relatives in the mountains. Took us 2.5 hours for a round trip of 7+ miles.

DS17 left, walking, at 3:30 to try to make it 6 miles to open up Chick Fil A as the owner is out of town. He made it about 1/2 way and has turned around to come home. Now the wind is picking up and temps are dropping.

The 10 min drive to get DS20 at work took us over 30 min each way last night. Our van apparently picked up a nail so we had to take my bug. Got stuck getting back in my drive & now my ABS light is on. Hopefully it will go off on it's own & something isn't messed up.

I live in a desert so we no longer even own a shovel. My drive has 2' tall little Christmas trees next to it and they aren't visible this morning except for a small lump where the snow is on the peak of them. I have a feeling it's going to be a long day. The only bright spot may be that when we fed the dogs, we brought home one of their sleds!

DH thinks he must be allergic to one of his meds as he's breaking out in a rash. Wonderful!!! At least I have benadryl!!

DD had a friend spend the night so maybe I'll get the girls to make cookies today to pass the time....NOT what I need, but.....The friend is originally from Phoenix & wore flip flops  over here in the snow & there's no way anyone is driving her home or coming to get her. Walking would be possible as it's under a mile, but not in flip flops! :sad2:

DD's wrist is better so she can start fencing again in Jan. I'm not really looking forward to it. She enjoys it, but mentally beats herself up when she chokes at tournaments. not really healthy. She turned 15 and it's time for her to start thinking about a job, driving and college, so I'd really rather the fencing become a 'for enjoyment' thing, not a 'must win' thing.

I just called DS17 and he's about a mile from home. Good as I hear the wind picking up. If this drifts it will be much worse!

As it stands now, DD and I are going to FL over president's day weekend to see my sister. Leaving 2/15, returning 2/19. We both have free tickets and mine expire on 2/20. It will just be a hanging out weekend.

Didn't make WW this week as I totally lost track of the days. Instead we went to the aquarium after dropping DS17 and DS20 at work & taking DH for blood tests. Oh well. I'm not too optimistic that next week will be good as I've been 'munchy' all week and feel like PMS is approaching, although it hasn't shown since late Oct.

I have been making it to the gym alternating weights(45 min)/cardio(35 min+) days with lap swimming days(30 min). Hopefully I'll see some movement in the scale soon. I didn't make it yesterday and was feeling bad, but I think 2.5 hours trekking through snow 1/2 way to my knees was probably sufficient.
I'm not a good lap swimmer, but I'm finding that it is actually enjoyable and relaxing. I think that when I swim I have to concentrate so much on my breathing that I don't have the time for my mind to mull over recent events that I do on the TM or other equipment. I swim slowly, or even walk the pool laps, then use the steam room.

I'm planning to visit journals later today to catch up with everyone. I've been reading quite a few, just not posting.

More later.....

Hi Julie
Wow you sound pretty snowed in at the moment!!! Would love to see some pics if you take any :)
Glad DH is doing well & that DS 20 seems to be getting on track & enjoying the job :)
Well done for getting to the gym too :)
Have a great new year
Tracey x

Hi Julie,

Hope DH is improving, that must have been scary.

WOW on the snow. I don't like it, but that certainly is unusual for you, yes? May it melt quickly.

Happy New Year!

I can't believe the weather you're having!!! Please send some snow our way as we've had a green Christmas up here in Ontario!! I hope your dh is doing well. Good for you for keeping up with the exercise with everything that's going on. Happy New Year to you, and here's to a fantastic 2007! :goodvibes

Julie, glad DH is home. I think driving the zamboni is a really cool job for DS. Glad he is enjoying it. The snow you have had is crazy. Love the flip flop story though. :rotfl2: Take it easy. Your workouts sound really good. Here's to a Happy and Healthy 2007!

Hey Julie. Sorry I haven't checked in in a while. I'm glad your DH is home and healing, and that your DS is liking driving the zamboni (sounds like a cool job to me!).

I don't know about you, but I'm hoping for a quiet, boring 2007!! :rotfl:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks so much for your support this year - even with all that you have going on in your own life. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.

Happy, Healthy New Year, Everyone! Thanks for all your caring & support! You all are the BEST!!!!

I know last year I said it was to be the year for me, but I'm really going to try it again!

The snow is still here, and they say more is on the way. It is SO weird! Here's a link to a 'viewer page' one of our local TV stations created for people to upload snow pics - I haven't, but this will show what's got NM at a standstill. I-40 finally reopened about 10 last night after people had been stranded for over 2 days - hundreds upon hundreds of them. The most touching story was a 3 year old girl desperately needed a breathing machine treatment and a trucker more than 10 miles ahead started passing his power inverter car to car, person to person all the way back to this girls car so she could get her medicine!

DH is having a reaction to one of his meds - don't know which one, but the took him off 3 of 4, added in a different one, and he will have to try to see a Dr. tomorrow. So far I don't think the rash is changing much. They're concerned he might be allergic to the medication on the STENT they put in him. Wonderful!! And, one of the medicines they took him off is one he really needed as it was supposed to stabilize his heart while it heals. Other than the reaction, he seems to be doing well. He doesn't talk much to me, so I'm basically guessing.

DS20 went out for a while last night with friends & came home slightly drunk & had had his hair buzzed. Plus he ordered something online for one of the friends to give as a Christmas present and again hasn't collected the $78 owed him - & likely won't. Bad choices still abound & DH doesn't see the connection between DH lax behavior and tolerance of everything DS20 and DS17s attitude. DS20 has to do NOTHING - DH even went in and hauled SIX bags of garbage out of DS20 room which are still sitting in the hall downstairs waiting for DS20 to carry them out, DS20 just up and left last night. DS17 wanted to go to his girlfriends for a bit since they were able to make it into town & DH told him he couldn't it was a family time, makes DS17 do all of DS20 jobs (even had him helping clean DS20 room) and all of DH jobs and wonders why DS17 comments that wait til he's 18 and then see if he spends New Years at home & not with his friends. DH told him if he does that he won't be welcome here again. UGH!!!!!!!! Let's punish the good kid & reward the deadbeat!

After playing in the snow & shovelling, DD's hand hurts again. Gee, I wonder why?? So she was in a tired blue funk mood yesterday. Oh well, get over it!

It looks like we're going to be getting MORE snow Tues/Wed and I'm betting school will be cancelled on Wed. Side streets are still 100% snow & ice covered and many people still can't get out of their houses.

So, off to my 2007 goals:

I haven't weighed today, but I know I'm down at least a little since last year this time. I ate way too much and way too salty yesterday, so I'm sure it won't be a totally accurate weight, but......

1. is to GET THIS WEIGHT OFF!!!!! I likely won't make my personal goal this year, but I'm determined to make my WW goal - which means I need to lose 25 - 30 lbs. If I actually follow WW and not keep straying it should happen.

2. Actually GO to WW and stay on plan!

3. JOURNAL, JOURNAL, JOURNAL!!!!

4. Exercise AT LEAST 5x each week - even if it's using a DVD here, I must get in some formal exercise. For me that's the KEY!!

5. Don't let my Bible reading get pushed aside for other activities.

6. Get finances & Spending/Saving a bit more under control - hard to do with DS20 situation, but I can try to improve it a bit.

7. Unclutter my house! DH is a real packrat, but I'm going to start once they're all back at work/school clearing out! We don't need all the JUNK!!!!

8. Get brave enough to register for the 1/2 in 2008!

I'll likely add to the list as I'm still a bit asleep & not thinking too clearly. I should have written things down yesterday as I mentally went over them!

Happy New Year, Julie!

I pray that 2007 is filled with abundant blessings for you and your family.:grouphug:

It sounds like you guys have a lot of winter weather going on out there! Yesterday, it was in the mid 50s here in Ohio and we had a green Christmas. I hope everyone stays safe and warm out there!

Sending prayers for your DH..... I hope the doctor's figure out what is causing the reaction so they can fix it soon.

Your resolutions for 2007 look good, Julie! You CAN accomplish each and every one of them!:cheer2:

Ok, I need to journal - here and on paper - so help me stay accountable!!

1/1 Food -

2 lt english muffins(3.5)
2 ff cheese(1)
1/2 c egg beaters(1)
banana peppers(0)
tomatos (0)
cucumber(0)
green olives(2)
4 slices light extra fiber bread(2.5)
small banana(1)
sm box cauliflower w/ lf cheese(2.5)
lt peanut butter(2)

40 oz decaf green tea, 20 oz decaf tea, 12 oz decaf coffee

I weighed and I'm down 12 pounds since 1/1/2006

Went to the gym to swim - 63 minutes of laps in a quickly cooling pool. The snow somehow shorted out the wiring to all their water heating units, so the pool, hot tub, steam room and showers had nothing to warm them. BRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

 Well done on the 12lb loss
And for getting an invigerating swim in ;)
couldnt see a link for the snow pics!
Your goals look great, have a great week
Tracey

Can't believe I forgot the link, Tracey! Thanks for letting me know!

DH is back at work today! Thankfully!! He's been driving me NUTS!!!! Today he goes to a different Dr. in his cardiologists group to get his rash checked. He was livid that his Dr. couldn't make room for him. Welcome to the world of medicine!! Hopefully I can go with him as listening isn't his strong point!

DD is going sledding with a friend this morning. DS17 is planning to finish some more school, submit the LAST of Calculus and work in his room. DS20 will sleep & watch more Simpsons. It's his life!

We got the main tree down last night so I need to regroup my Living room. Can't take down the outside lights, so I'll leave the front porch tree up until then. Besides, it's REALLY cold & windy here this morning!

Tonight or later this afternoon I WILL make it to the gym! Hopefully they will have hot water!!

1/2 Food -

1/2 c Fiber one cereal(0)
WW yogurt(1)
1/2 c blueberries(.5)
4 slices lt bread(2)
4 slices turkey(2)
4 slices dill pickle(0)
homemade veggie chili (4)
chips(3)
ff cheese(1)
peanut brittle(3)

40 oz decaf green tea, 32 oz propel, 32 oz water

7 min abs tape, 23 min elliptical

Well, I didn't make it to the gym today! But I did do my 7 min abs tape and 23 minutes on my elliptical at a harder resistance/incline than usual.

DH had a Dr. appt about his rash. Made it this morning for 1, got there at 12:45, they goofed and typed it in for the 9th, had to go to scheduling. She finally found him a 2:20 appt. So we sat. at 2:10, they called him to the desk, someone in 'the back' had CANCELLED his 2:20 appt as they said he was new and needed a 40 min appt, not a 20. Back to scheduling. She finally found one of the Drs to squeeze him in at 3:45. Blew the whole day!!

This said to continue with the substitute meds until his appt on the 11th. If the rash is gone then they will add the meds back gradually to figure out which was causing the rash. He also read us the report which said this was a "Major Infarction" - and said DH was lucky to be here. I wish it would scare some sense into him! He says he knows portion control, but wants to eat a LOT of the lowfat, low sodium foods - MORE than a normal amount. Thus he hasn't lost anything.

No exercise for him yet. I called the insurance and Cardiac Rehab is a max of 20 visits/year at $30 each. The center he will go to, however, says they bill it as "Outpatient Hospital" - $100 deductible then 20% which will be nearly $1600. When asked why they said that was just how they choose to fill out the paper work - More money for them, I guess! They're now doing the same at all but 1 lab for blood work as Presbyterian has taken over the billing for the labs & charges it as Outpatient Hospital. We're filing a complaint! We had to drive 25 miles each way to the only lab that is still 'free'. If we paid full price the 1 blood test he had done would have been $53. With insurance it would have been $110. Go figure!! But, this is New Mexico!

Mia is finally going into heat. She's whiney & clingy, but hopefully Max will get it right and we'll have puppies in about 2.5 months! Tomorrow I need to take down their cages in the kitchen and put up the playpen so she can't take to high ground & get away from him.

All public schools here are cancelled tomorrow as the Albuquerque district owns only 1 lawn tractor with a rake they are trying to clear snow with and 2 bobcats. Rio Rancho doesn't even have those. The side streets are still 100% ice and it's like I'm doing Beetle ice dancing when I try to drive. The school says they will likely remain closed the entire WEEK! 80% of the students ride busses and the roads aren't safe. DD will LOVE it!!! Hopefully they won't take away her President's day weekend as we have airline tickets already!

Everyone else is watching a movie - The Island. Not my type, so the pups & I are going to get under the electric blanket, watch the news & go to bed!

Have a great "HUMP" day everyone!!

Hello Julie!

I am going to have a great New Year! I know you will too! Getting back to the WISH and all will make sure of it! It's one of those little things we do for ourself, and I am sorely lacking in attention! :goodvibes

Been busy with getting ready for anything! LOL Did have a nice holiday, and did visit those long distance relatives. School has started today, and I am ready to get back into a routine!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Wendy

Wow Julie you really are snowed under!! The pics look so pretty, but i wouldnt want to be stuck in it!! Gary would make a fortune gritting the roads out their!!!
Hospital cost sound VERY expensive, we moan over here at the state of our health service, but we dont have to pay for it!!!
Have a lovely snowy week!! :)

Well, today was a good exercise day, but not a good food choice day.

1/3 -

slimfast (3)
ruffles light chips(5)
chocolate(6)
turkey(1)
tortilla w/ chili(3)

12 oz green tea, 12 oz cf diet pepsi, 32 oz propel, 32 oz water

7 min abs DVD, 25 min weights, 15 min step climber, 35 min treadmill

School here was cancelled at noon until next Monday. Side roads are still bad. DD is BORED - oh well!

DS17 is at the ChickFilA owners house shovelling snow off his roof as his flat adobe roof is leaking. He doesn't care, he's getting paid! Lots of flat roofs here are collapsing.

All your snow sounds kind of funny, serious for your area, but funny. I guess the desert needed to cool off.

It's good to hear that you are still trying to keep up with some exercise and trying to keep the food situation in line. Sorry to hear about your DH's health situation, hopefully, he will get things worked out.

I hear you on the attitude your DS20 is projecting which is affecting the rest of the family. It's tough.

Keep up the great work!

I just can't believe the snow!!!!! Seriously, if only you could give us some. It's just not natural to be green here in January. :confused3 Good job keeping up with the exercise with everything else going on with the weather and with your life. Keep it up and hopefully the weather will cooperate for you soon!
