I was really hoping that they died instantly and didn't know anything. The thought that their last moment was the realization that their dad was going to hurt them just tears me up. And to think one of them had to watch it happen to his brother is even more devastating. What a horrific thing to do to a child. That man is a monster.
to the poster who called the social worker stupid, i read a report today that included her phone call to 911 BEFORE he blew up the house. the dispatcher told her that authorities were tending to life-threatening situations.![]()

i think she did the best she could do. i'm sure she'll be haunted by this moment for the rest of her life, but she bears NO guilt in this situation.
I cannot believe the latest details in the murders. It is absolutely beyond anything I could imagine.![]()
Now Powell's sister is saying that Josh's death can be blamed on the "system". Oh please. The system was trying to protect the kids from the monster he turned out to be. Denial is high right now. She cannot fathom that her brother is a cold-blooded murderer.
call me callous but maybe the guards should look the other way for a while.
I wondered how long it would be before his family tried to blame everyone and anyone other than that monster. They say his dad is on suicide watch in prison...call me callous but maybe the guards should look the other way for a while.

I could understand her refusing to believe that he killed his wife. I don't believe it for a minute but I can see how she might have felt that way in the beginning. But your brother just took a hatchet to your nephews and you feel the system made him do it??? Sounds like the whole family is a piece of work.
The family clearly has issues. I mean the dad is in jail on child porn charges. While there is no excuse, Josh Powell is a murderer. However, who knows what happened to him (and his delusional sister) as children. Monsters create monsters.
Good point, not that all people who are molested become monsters, far from it. On that note, does anyone know about Mrs. Powell (Josh's mother)?

In October, Terrica Powell, 56, broke a long-standing silence in the case of her missing daughter-in-law and her son, by writing a court affidavit in support of Josh Powell retaining custody of his boys.
In the declaration filed in Pierce County Superior Court in Tacoma, Wash., Terrica Powell called her grandsons "happy, well-adjusted and vibrant children ... even though they miss their mother."
She lives with her daughter that blames the system for what Josh Powell did.
Sorry! My bad. It was his cousin not his sister, who blamed the deaths on the Washington system:
