Final thing I will say about this situation. As a Patriots fan I don't want McDaniels to be the next Pats head coach. I believe there will be better candidates out there when that time comes, just like I believe better candidates exist at the moment for the Colts job.

Marchand, I agree with those in this thread who are glad McDaniels isn't going to coach the Colts. What I disagree with is thinking just because a coach in any sport fails at his 1st head coaching job means he'll always fail. Their are plenty examples in all sport of coaches succeeding the 2nd time around. Like I said I don't want McDaniels taking over for Belichick.

I don't think Pete is too welcome at USC. He did leave right before the NCAA cracked down. So both coaches you listed have less than stellar backgrounds when it comes to respecting rules and regulations.

Pete was cleared. They'd welcome him back with open arms. And that Crack down was bogus. They invented out of thin air a whole new standard of monitoring and a whole new standard of what constituted a booster and defined a payment allegedly made to Reggie Bush's family by an agent TO GET HIM TO LEAVE USC as payment to stay at USC. It was complete and utter garbage. What should have been a slap on the wrist, because of corruption by the NCAA and the committee on infractions headed by Paul Dee ended up the worst sanctions since SMU and the biggest miscarriage of justice ever (at the time) by the NCAA. There have since been probably even bigger ones.
