I got this from a local news source and since no-one national has picked it up yet, I thought I'd share.

Actor robbed at Hawaii Kai home
Andrew Pereira

Hawaii Kai is known as one of Oahu's safer neighborhoods, but on Wednesday night people on a quiet street are on edge after an armed robbery.

And the victim turns out to be a familiar face.

It happened to Josh Holloway, an actor in the TV series "Lost," which of course is filmed in Hawaii.

In the past year Josh Holloway has become a household name as millions of fans tune into the hit TV show "Lost."

But early Wednesday morning at his Hawaii Kai home, the actor got the kind of attention no one wants when he became a victim of crime.

In "Lost" Josh Holloway plays a character who has used a gun to get what he wants. Early Wednesday morning it was a real gun that was pointed at the actor and his wife. Holloway's agent says the experience has left the couple shaken.

After rousting Holloway and his wife out of bed, the man left with cash and credit cards.

The thief also drove away in the actor's Mercedes.

The car was recovered a short time later, but the thief is still on the loose.

Neighbors of the quiet neighborhood say they're stunned by the boldness of the crime.

"It was gunpoint, that's not what anyone wants to hear," says Dan Mahnke, neighbor.

"I'm pretty shocked that it's at gunpoint because normally they just break in, take stuff, and leave right away, but boy this kind of scary," says Clyde Ching, neighbor.

According to FBI statistics, Holloway's home is located in an area that saw 107 robberies in 2004, the most in Hawaii Kai.

Investigators say the robbery suspect is five feet, eight inches tall with a slim build.

He was wearing a black or gray baseball cap, and a black or gray shirt, and armed with a black handgun.

Holloway's agent says the actor is trying to shake-off the real-life terror of staring down the barrel of a gun.

According to neighbors Holloway is fairly new to the area, buying his home less than a year ago.

YIKES! Glad he and his wife were not harmed. Very scary though.

Whew, this isn't the kind of news I want to get about Josh. I'm glad they are OK. Is it uncommon for people to have security systems in Hawaii? Being a pretty well known actor, I would have thought he would have one.

In Josh's neighborhood burglaries are not uncommon (mainly because they're multi-million dollar homes) and most of those homes have security systems. But the ones I've heard of have taken place during the day while the occupants are at work. This is the first gunpoint burglary I've heard of in that neighborhood.

Hmmm...I wonder if they knew who they were robbing. Poor baby. I think he needs me to fly over there and console him.

I was wrong. He doesn't live in the expensive part of Hawaii Kai. They showed his house on t.v. and it is nearer to the mountain. It's the beach houses that are expensive. So maybe he didn't have an alarm.

:rotfl: I'm sorry. I was searching for the word Hawaii and came across this older thread. I'm planning a trip home next summer.

My dad has moved for some of the cast and crew of Lost and Hawaii Kai is an affluent area no matter where you go. My dad's sister and my cousins live there, but they have lived there for years before the craziness. I just had to giggle at your comment. :goodvibes

I think Josh and his wife, Yessica, rent rather than buy their homes, but it's like Long Island there.... $$$$ :faint:

I have wondered if it's an "inside" job, though, because Hawaii Kai is not known for that kind of blatant, face to face robbery. Then again there are "crackheads/iceheads" that would do anything for their next hit...My parents were robbed in quiet, unassuming Kaimuki. :confused3
