People think I have a "different" spelling to my name and call me Susan and obviously it isn't Susan. .... Suzanne was a more unusual name when I was born though.

I went to school with many a Suzanne. But it was hard to keep track of who was Suze - anne vs. who was Suze -ahn. About half and half.

Jennifer was the name my mom picked out, but there were several babies named Jennifer in the weeks before I was born thta mom decided to change it to Suzanne. She wanted something unique, but not crazy.

I am decades older than you - the name was more popular back in the 50s. I also knew a lot of Susans, Dianes, Sharons and Sandras - name you don't see too often today.

I love the name Suzanne - I wanted to name my sister that (1958), but my mother thought that "Suze - anne" was too close to my name as my middle name is Ann. I probably didn't know about "Suze-ahn" at that age. I did give my sister the middle name of Jeanne - which is not pronounced as "Jean" or "Jeanie" but more of a French pronunciation like "John"

LOL! I'm closer to Arminnie's age, and I grew up in S. Louisiana, where due to the French influence pretty much all Suzannes are sue-zahn. My eldest niece married a man whose mother is named Suzanne. She lives in Wisconsin, and she spent the entire wedding weekend constantly repeating, "It's suz-ANNE, not sue-zahn." All the nice Cajuns at the wedding cheerfully said, "Oh, OK. Hope you have a nice time here in Louisiana, Sue-zahn." With their accents it really just couldn't come out any other way.

Bleh. I wish parents would stop with the unique spellings. It's not cute, it's not special, it's just irritating. I just met an "Aaimee" the other day. Why?! It's like the parents had a particular fondness for vowels. What is the point of the second "a" anyway??

I hear you. After volunteering in the kids' preschool classes enough..I think ENOUGH of the made up names!! There was a kid in my daughter's preschool class that I was still asking him everyday I was there how to spell his name, all the way up until school was over for the year. I just couldn't catch on to that name. When I am putting names on a million worksheets and crafts, easier is better. And when you have half the class with unique names, that's going to drive you up a wall. Especially when you are trying to figure out which special snowflake is Mahkaylah and which one is Mackaayla or whatever. Whatever happened when we were kids, and there was an Amy A and an Amy B? Why do we have to add in the Amie and the Aaimey crap now?

I was a school nurse for a while and it was so hard for some of the poor kids to learn how to spell their names. They just were not spelled like they sound.

im sorry but i do not really like the name at all. i wish them well though. alot of names today are kinda diff. we all like just simple names.

At least it's a real name with a unique spelling instead of a completely made up name.
We all knew how to pronounce it just by looking at it.
