Jonah's wish trip *pictures added*

another question, what can we expect at MVMCP? I've watched some of the videos and know some of the rides will be open but what else is there?

I think allears has a good review of it, but let's see if I can remember....there are special holiday themed shows, the parade and fireworks are holiday themed. The characters will be dressed for "winter". Ummmmm....A LOT less people so you can hit more attractions. I think they make it snow on main street after the parade. If I remember anything else, I will let you know. But I would check out some threads here on the Dis too and see what they all say about it. I wan't much help was I??? :sad2: :rotfl:

I know this has been asked a lot and know about the first aid center and the wish lounge but instead of having to walk back to the front of the parks for diaper changes, what has everyone else done. I've heard not every companion restroom has a changing area. That's something else i'm concerned about.

Becca,

I have looked for a thread on this for you, but have not found one yet, so I PM'd SueM in MN from the disABILITIES thread to see if she can help. I would suggest posting this question on Wish Trippers Unite! or starting a thread with the question on the disABILITIES or Disney for Families

Becca,

Here is a good thread to post on for asking your baby changing questions. You will also find some great information there.

Baby Changing

Sue has not been able to find any new information. There is one station at each park. MK's in pretty centrally located near the Crystal Palace.

We had a slow weekend and not much planning or anything just resting. My parents are in town for a few days. Which Jonah was excited to see them last night at supper. He wouldn't let go of his grandmama. He did get a much needed hair cut, but other than that not much happening. Hope everyone had a good weekend too.

Becca,
I love the pictures. They are wonderful. I can tell he will have such a great time on his wish trip. I'll bet Grandmama is so thrilled that he gets excited to see her. Those small milestones mean so much.

Have a great day.

Thank you, grandmama can't get enough, I think if she could she would sit and hold him all day long.

I love that shirt and i wanted another one that would fit him and the company has temporarily closed, so i'm looking for another company that has that kind of shirt.

Jonah has had a great week with his grandmama and granddaddy. My mom got to see him in therapy albeit granddaddy didn't get to go because he was at a conference my mom bragged enough that he should have felt like he was there with us.

I don't think I've posted here about it on this thread, but we are working on getting him a device to be able to communicate with and learn to use it to vocalize his wants and needs. His therapist is waiting for the rep from the company to get back in touch with her and then she can turn in the paper work. We are really excited about this because we have been working on this for over a year. We started out with another organization that wasn't listening to our concerns or listening to the therapist that work with him ALL the time. Then with a little foot work on part found out that his therapist could fill in everything and submit it for review. We're hoping to be able to get it before we go on our trip.

Girl, what are you doing up at all hours of the night? I was not sleeping last night either, my husband is out of town again and I don't sleep well (if at all) when he is gone. You would think after 36 years I would be used to this but I'm not.

I am so excited for you to hopefully get the communication device for Jonah. We have tried several times to get something for Karlyn but it usually gets lost in the shuffle. She can speak a little but is really difficult to understand and she can not sign because her rt hand doesn't work, both stroke related issues. I know she gets really frustrated but we have all gotten really good at narrowing down what she is trying to tell us through questions and pointing.

Have a terrific day and maybe get a little nap!

How exciting Jonah's getting his device !Which one is he getting ? We've been working for over 2 years for a device for my daughter .Because of her CP its difficult for her to accurately access a device using a hand or head switch. We just had a consult with a company with a farely new device called the Tobii. It's an eye gaze device & she would only need to gaze at the icons to activate . How cool is that ! I hope it works because I think we're running out of options .She has soooo much to say & no way to say it !

I had just woken up, one of my dogs has gotten sick so i was up cleaning the floor and trying to get my hubby so he could go to work. We're normally in bed by 9:30. This is about 2 years in the making now that we've been trying different devices and different organizations too, but finally found out that his spt could do everything. I'm hoping to get a nap soon or go to bed early again.

We are getting a dynavox max, it is the coolest thing. Jonah's problem is that he is hearing/vision impaired. The hearing has been corrected with aids and the vision is an uphill battle keeping his glasses on face. We tried to use audio scanning with a switch and it just confused him and he likes touching the screen. The eye gaze is really cool. Jonah couldn't use that because he's eyes drift so much until he really wants see something and then he gets focused a couple of seconds. dynavox has an eye gaze too, I think.

Hello!

I found your pre-tr and I hope you don't mind if I sign on.

I'm Jen. Mommy to the most amazing boy in the world (Jon)...who is neurologically impaired with other medical issues. That's a story for another time.

I'm also an SLP. Who loves Disney. Go figure.

Let me just say, that I am looking so forward to reading about your adventures.

And most importantly...that boy of yours is gorgeous!!!!

Jen, Welcome aboard. My family loves SLPs and OTs and PTs. They are all the reason why he's able to do what he's doing right now.

becca

P.S.
I'll do tell y'all later of his great day on the horse after he's in bed. He's "calling" me now, later
