Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

Yeah, but, you only had to carry one extra outfit. Kate would have had to carry 6 (or 8 if you count Mady and Cara).

I thought Kate was over the top, but upon watching it again, I don't totally blame her. She did say that she was upset because the ice cream was melting and she didn't want the kids to be stuck wearing sticky clothing for the rest of the day.

I wouldn't have brought clothes for Mady & Cara (my DD is 6, and I don't carry extra clothes for her). Size 3 clothes don't take up much room, depending on what you choose for the spare outfit. I kept a simple cotton sundress folded down pretty small in a ziploc bag for my DD. 3 of those and 3 t-shirts for the boys wouldn't be bad to carry.

This is Kate Gosselin we're talking about ... prepared with potties and clothes changes in her van! The same woman that says it takes hours to get ready for an outing.

You'll notice when they're pushing the strollers with the kids up Main St. USA, that Jon & Kate aren't carrying much, if anything at all, into the park for the day. No water bottles, wet wipes, moleskin, extra snacks, or any of the other things WDW visitors often have with them. Uncharacteristically unprepared, especially for someone who has visited WDW before!

They were staying at the WL, it wouldn't have taken that long to have Jon or one of the helpers run back and get fresh clothes. Not an ideal solution, but they were in a much better position to do that staying at the WL than they would have been at AKL or the Boardwalk.

I thought the Sight and Sound episode was cute. I like when they put the kids in the interview chair. I can't wait to see the Hawaii episode. I think November is the start of the new season.

Not that he doesn't do a lot, but why does Jon get praise for doing what parents are supposed to do? This isn't Jon-specific, though. I have a friend who asks her husband to babysit the kids so she can have a girls' night, and he has the nerve to ask for compensation (not monetary, but "I'll babysit if you bring me this or that"). I'm sorry...dads don't babysit. They take care of their children. And they should do it without expectation of anything.

thank you!! I have posted this before in this thread, only not worded so well! Jon does do a lot, but he's their father. He should be doing these things anyway. I can totally relate to Kate's excitement when he asked what he coudl do to help her. Occasionally DH will ask "what do you need from me" when I'm in a "moment" and it really, really helps to have been asked instead of having to bark orders around at everyone!

Oh....don't get me started on fathers who "babysit" Hell would freeze over before I asked my DH to babysit the kids He doesn't ask me to babysit when he goes to work all day

Agreed, that's how I took it too, not that he never helps, but he needs to know WHEN to ask!

Wel, I stayed away for a bit but came back to see what was being discussed. I see not much has changed.

I've always found that ice cream scene to be really puzzling. And I wonder if it was a case of the producers "setting up" a situation to make for good television.

I mean, really - whose idea was it to bring the ice cream out at that time? Right as the kids are meeting the princesses? And while they're standing out in the middle of the hot sun? You do see CMs holding trays with the cups of ice cream but I can't imagine it was THEIR idea to choose that particuliar moment to treat everyone to free ice cream. Just nothing about it made sense to me!

I agree, I've watched this enough now to see the "set up" part of it all.

I'm not sure. Let us not forget the bakery in church clothes because she "didn't want to change a bazillion kids."

I cringe at the Disney episode. The heat, the cameras, the cm's following, I couldn't take it. When I see it I think of the pp on this thread whose daughter did the twins bippiddi- boppidi makeover and how that footage didn't quite make the cut!

Not Jon and Kate's fault..look to the producers that most likely have final say in what is shown

I so agree, since when is being home with the kids and talking care of them considered baby sitting? I thought it was called 'being their parent'

Looks like the sextuplets are in fact in school now.

Granted, Kate’s got only two children in school — 7-year-old twins Mady and Cara are in the second grade — but she’s also got 4-year-old sextuplets at home. Aaden, Joel, Collin, Hannah, Leah and Alexis are in preschool three afternoons a week, which means that Kate and the kids must sit down to lunch at 10:50 a.m. on those days. Planning and organization are obvious necessities for the Gosselin family, but Kate’s also concerned with nutrition and variety.

It also says that she has 3 chest freezers and 2 refrigerators. I know that came up in conversation on here at one point.

ok, not a slam on Kate, but I got a chuckle when I saw the recipes that Kate "developed" for the site....like no other moms came up with the idea of a ham and cheese sandwich or pb and apple slices!

Seriously...those Kate bashers have some major issues.

I like the show, I think it's cute, I watch it on Monday's and then go on with my life. Those people put way too much hatred and energy into someone they don't even know!

What’s hilarious is that, on Jon and Kate Plus 8, Kate has come out and claimed that “real cooks don’t use recipes.” So it was quite kind of her to offer these…recipes…to those peons among us who are not “real cooks.”

Because Kate has said she doesn't use recipes ... even though you see her on the show using a recipe, and now this.

I think they do just that. I know that whenever I blog about the show, I get quite a bit more traffic on my site on those days. I rarely say anything that incites a riot

with that said, some of the posts were insightful, carefully thought out, and well written. I agreed with some. Not many, but some.

I used to live nearby, but we moved do to a job loss a few months ago. The family was just odd in that you never see the kids out playing unless they were doing a shoot.
Do you rememeber the time Jon took off on his skates and Cara went after him? We were driving out of the neighborhood and were asked to stop by a go with a camera! One of the twins was trying to keep up and she fell very badly. I got out and she was crying and kept saying to get away from her! She was terrified. Mind you I am not a scary woman, and my older daughter got out with me. Her chin was all bloody. Kate kept screaming to "get away from my child", but she didn't come running. The camera man was still filming Jon. She finally got up and walked back to their house. Kate didn't come for her. And we watched at the end of the street. It took Jon about 10 minutes before he skated back. This is just one thing I witnessed. My babysitter's back yard borders the family's. She said it took all day to film the video but that Kate was only outside with the family for about 10 minutes. It was a nice day and she was outside with her kids watching, because it was interesting for them (not trying to be nosy, but it is her backyard). And Kate was yelling, YELLING at Jon. Something about Hannah and Mady. It was awful she said. And they did get a dog. She saw it tied to the swing set.


This is sort of interesting. Someone I work with showed me the above post at this site...who knows? I don't think they are dog people? Hope this isn't true!

Not that it couldn't be true, but I honestly think they are too smart to let their child sit injured, unassisted and bleeding in front of a camera. If they are just playing it up for the camera, as some people propose, that would be very "out of character" when it's rolling.

As possible as it is that they don't like their extended families, it seems to me that they truly love and care for their kiddos. I doubt they would just watch any one of them bleed for ten minutes. And, scary or not, I've taught DS and DNiece not to talk to adults they're not familiar with, aside from policemen, firemen, etc. if they need help.

That's a weird story about one of the twins getting hurt. I remember that episode and Mady wasn't on camera much, could have been her? That is strange that Kate and the hurt child would be yelling "stay away" when someone stopped to help. It makes me sad because kids do sometimes need an adult's help and police officers and fire fighters aren't always around. We have definitley told our kids that grownups should not be asking them for help, directions, etc. but if they are hurt, lost or in danger ask a grownup for help. A majority are parents themselves, and more than willing to help. In my neighborhood, we would definitley stop to help a child who had a bike, scooter, whatever accident. My son broke his collarbone a couple streets away, and I was glad someone stopped! It takes a village...
Of course in the account given, Mom was looking on while Dad skated for the taping? Odd if true.

I heard a commercial that said next week is an all new viewer question/answer show? When a viewer asked about moving, they flashed to a HUGE house? We'll see. Oh, I hope they didn't get a dog after the hermit crabs. They are not pet friendly!
