For me it would be because my family has to live in the real world where other people's opinions affect us, whether we want to believe it or not. The kids have to suffer socially if the whole free world has the opportunity to see them shower, pee, throw up, pitch fits, and be disciplined. To me it has become more voyeuristic than “real” celebrity’s lives. If money is their only motivator, you are right public opinion won't matter until sponsors leave.

No one I know really knew about the show besides my mom and I at the beginning of the year, and now half my family watches it You never know for sure what's going on behind the scenes

My guess as to why people "in the know" don't defend them is because they have been asked not to. I would not want to burden people I love with the the fall-out from a choice I made for my family.

that's a very good point, as well. I know I wouldn't have the stomach to know people were saying all that stuff about me if it wasn't true. I don't know why it would upset me, but it would.

Oh please! Five years from now, they will be out of the spotlight and people's opinions won't be affecting a blessed thing that they do. As for the "whole free world" watching them - that's a bit of an exaggeration. They're not on network television!

And for me, there's a difference in people thinking something about me that isn't true and being the focus of internet hatred. I can't imagine what kind of emails they're getting, in addition to the emails TLC, sponsors, etc. are getting as well.

I like to fly under the radar, most of the time. LOL.

Well, one reason could be that no one on "their" side wants to dignify the rumors with any of their own remarks. I know that's what I was always taught.

I would think that, too. Why stoop to the level of those starting the rumors by addressing the world via internet?

I think someone finally hit a nerve with our own happy Donald. Good to see him/her/it finally responding to actual questions instead of stating random "facts."

Aaaaand, if someone did address the rumors, I highly doubt that would put off any of the bashers. It would just give them more fuel, I'm sure. Maybe someone should make another video that says everything on Julie's blog is false. Apparently a YouTube video confirms facts. Who knew?

First of all,the fact that you admit yourself you post on GWOP says alot. That site is just plain nasty and horrible. Its an attack site that is completely one sided. They do not let fans of any kind post on that site. and not everything on that site is true.

this was posted today at GWoP ... sounds like a fan to me ... as I said, it IS full of nastiness, but they do allow other voices to speak as well.

Jon and Kate inspired both my husband and I during their february 2008 speaking engagement in Ohio. How did they inspire us, you ask?
I am not stupid, I know that they have had a tremendous amount of help and frankly I don't doubt that perhaps they have not been 100% forth coming in all the happenings since finding out they were having sextuplets.

That being said they have also had some extreme troubles, marriage, family and financial etc. It is their story of how they relied on others and yes, even on God that was inspirational. They were very sincere, VERY grateful, and they know that they have been truly blessed.

Some people see their "freebies" as just that. However, I see them as the work of God. He puts all people and situations in our paths. It is up to us to make our choices, just as it is for the Gosselins.

Have I agreed with everything I have seen on the show? Absolutely not. Have there been times when I have cringed at Kate or Jon's behaviour, absolutely. However, put a camera in my house you just might find similar situations, since I am by no means perfect.

We all focus on the negative most of the time. I do it in my own life as well. However, this family, these parents, these children have a lot to offer. They are God inspired. Do they always act accordingly, no. But to me that is what is so inspirational about the Gosselins. The idea that we all have tomorrow to live a better life.

Granted I know that we all different, but this is just how I see things.

Really? Jon and Kate haven't changed? Yes they have. They hired PR and done major damage control. That is change to me.

Seriously, I'm really confused by what your motives are? Do you want them to stop doing the show? What do you what as an end result?

I meant, and perhaps I was not clear, that Jon and Kate are not going to stop being mean, nasty, old farts just because everyone on the internet hates them. Clearly, she's just as anal retentive as ever, shrieking and slap happy. They just have better PR people now. Is that what you wanted? I'm sorry I see no change in her personality, in fact it has gone downhill moreso. I don't see that improving, even if the people on the internet wag their fingers and tsk tsk her.

You have the right to spend your time as you like. I'm just trying to understand what you want in the end.

But, the poster that shared what I quoted here is named BEE. And this BEE person is a pretty staunch supporter of JK8. Obviously, not a blindly devoted sheeple .. but is like many of the posters here. Can see the faults, knows they're not perfect, but still loves the show. BEE is asking questions and making points, and the moderators over there are posting them.

I saw them on the Today show. I thought the host (Natalie Morales?) was so annoying! She wouldn't shut up! And she mispronounced Leah's name - kept calling her "Lay-Ah". The next day they were on Fox's morning show. They seemed much more comfortable on that one.

People question things on that site all the time ... more and more so, it seems.

It is a nasty site, make no mistake about it. But to say that they don't allow fans of any kind post isn't true. Many of the blog entries are from long-time fans of JK8 that have become disillusioned, have questions, and started searching on the internet. Some of the entries are very poignant.

There are the die-hard fans of the show, the die-hard bashers of the show, and everyone in between ... we hear from neighbors, former friends ... even Jon & Kate themselves have a message on their own website telling people not to believe everything they read unless it's on their (outdated) website or TLC. But, in light of this growing controversy, they haven't spoken out against the rumors. Nor have friends who know them, to say these things aren't true. Where are the people that know Jon & Kate now? Anyone... clergy, former coworkers, neighbors? Why haven't they or don't they speak out?

Thank you for your comments, but I have to disagree regarding GWOP. My friends and I have tried SEVERAL times to get any sort of comment posted on that site to NO avail. We have triple checked grammar, were very nice and said nothing negative. Serena herself has e-mailed me back giving me some ridiculous answer as to why my responses weren't added. She is only adding the people that used to love them, but now hate them because of everything they have read on the site. She does this intentionally for those lookey loos that have no idea whats going on to say "OK well maybe if they are wondering why shouldn't I?" None of those comments posted are 100% nice in any way. IMO she and the others have it in for this family. I feel that they have lied and because the allowing is so huge, have been able to get people to believe them. They keep saying Beth hates Kate, blah blah, is not in the picture anymore, but publishes at Zondervan (sp) have stated over and over that both Beth & Kate are looking into ways to promote the book. So who do you believe? Either way, this is not my life, nor do I care to the point of some. I do like the show though and always will

I just started watching this show and love it. I'm looking forward to the marathon that's airing Monday. I'm DVRing it. From what I've seen so far Kate does a wonderful job with the kids. I don't think she's mean at all and the banter between her and Jon is normal and loving, imo. I'm glad I finally tuned in because I'm really enjoying it. My DD's 18 and 8 also like it.

Nice to hear the other side. I,too, believed "that" site was really not interested in hearing from anyone who was a fan of the show.

and where do the publishers at Zondervan state that Beth & Kate are looking into ways to promote the book? Maybe they're trying to figure out how to promote the book separately

From what I understand, the book went from being co-authored by Kate & Beth to being co-authored by Jon & Kate and Beth.... now, I have no knowledge of the publishing industry, but I would think if two names are on the byline, then two names get paid. If three names are there, then 3 get paid ...

And I have no doubt that comments are heavily moderated at GWoP. Drama brings in more people. I don't understand why they're so wrapped up with this over there, though ... it makes no sense.

A PP mentioned Kate went on about how much she hated her camera, implying she was hinting heavily to get a new one ... and maybe Kodak or Canon was listen. I pointed out it was Sony, because that's the brand of camera Kate is using now. I went on to say that maybe it was a gift.

Now, how do I know it's a Sony? Because in a very recent episode, the production camera zoomed in really close and showed it was a Sony. That would suggest (to me, anyway) a pretty blatant product placement ..maybe not? Maybe Sony called Jon and invited him to pick out a camera for Kate. Either way, she seems happy with the new one.

Yikes...this is why I don't post on this forum much anymore...so many things are read out of context. My post wasn't meant to defend or bash Kate or any specific poster persay - just a general comment to all on the board who were hinting (IMHO from their posts) that kate's new camera was yet another freebie.

Hello All

A friend sent me here after seeing something I had written on GWoP and it ended up being posted into this forum. I'm the one who sent Kate a bracelet and had a not-so-great experience with her.

First, I want you to know that I am not a Kate-hater, I'm just someone who had an experience that wasn't so terrific. That's all.

In my opinion, I think she's just immature and doesn't see the big picture whatsoever. I hope one of these days she will but by then it will be too late.

When I made the comment about how we all let things slide (grounding our kids etc etc and not following through) it was in response to her "keeping to the rules" of no junk before dinner. When she wouldn't allow the little kids to eat their cup cakes because dinnertime was around the corner. She wouldn't let it slide, totally stuck to the "regular" rules of the house/day despite this being their fourth birthday. I just found it harsh. In our house, your birthday is YOUR day!! no rules apply for this day.

Anyway, I just wanted to clear up my 'thoughts' on that because I read where someone was bothered by what I said. Sometimes when I make posts it's VERY late at night and well, maybe I wasn't thinking clearly and didn't fully explain myself/thoughts. Sorry 'bout that. I can be a rambler and that in itself is super annoying. LOL

This forum seems pretty interesting. I'll read through some other comments but so far, everything I've read has been decent.

Look at all the free things celebrities get and they can more than afford all of them. It is one of the perks.

That's so funny that you say that because I was watching Oprah the other day and she had a guest that was showing new products. More than once she said, "Oh I like that, can I have it?" Not, where can I get one of those, no subtle hints that she'd like it, but a direct can I have it. I laughed when she asked because we know how wealthy Oprah is, but it's part of the business of being a household name. And every year during awards shows they always talk about the thousands of dollars of merchandise that goes into the baskets and gift bags for presenters and nominees at the shows.

when is the last time you've seen Kate on her hands & knees doing that kind of cleaning? She hired a cleaning service in one of the early episodes ... LOL

I don't think I've ever seen her on her knees but I do remember when she was interviewing housekeepers she mentioned that she does a hands and knees cleaning of the kitchen floor. The lady looked at her like she was nuts and said she would not get on her hands and knees to clean because she had bad knees and arthritis.

What is the motive of the GWoP site? I am seriously wondering. Do they want to shut down the show? Guilt the Gosselins into changing their ways? I just think it's kind of a sad thing to dedicate your life to, because clearly neither is going to happen.

Jon and Kate are not going to change. And people are not going to stop watching the show. As the rumors come out and TLC amps up publicity, I've seen more and more people start watching from curiosity. We all know that show isn't going to end until the kids aren't "cute" anymore. It just seems like the arguing in either direction is futile.

I still read GWoP every once in a while because it makes me laugh at how obsessed some people get. I've tried to post several times, but I have not been approved. I don't know what their motive actually is, but they've tried contacting Paul Peterson and were pretty much told that there is nothing wrong with the show in terms of what people were complaining about. They have a boycott sponsors section set up and they keep coming up with other groups that they can write to in order to stop the production of the show.

From what I understand, the book went from being co-authored by Kate & Beth to being co-authored by Jon & Kate and Beth.... now, I have no knowledge of the publishing industry, but I would think if two names are on the byline, then two names get paid. If three names are there, then 3 get paid ...

Jon should be a co-author. They are his kids too and even without reading the book, I could pretty well guess that there will be many stories about the kids and Jon & Kate themselves. It would have been wrong not to include him because I'm sure he contributed the content even if he didn't actually write anything.
