OMG, I read the comments from someone that admitted that they watch the show with a notebook so that they can remember all the things they need to post about.

I'm still confused as to what people actually consider to be so bad. The cameras aren't there every day. It's been stated that they're only there a few times a month, and now they go on their outings. So Kate's a little uptight... believe me, there are children out there dealing with much worse than not being able to draw with permanent markers. As others have said, there are actual abused and neglected children out there who need serious help. If only everyone worrying about the Gosselin kids (who's lives are golden compared to many, many others) put their time and energy into worrying about and helping the kids who truly need it, the world would be a much better place, as cheesy as that may sound.

my guess is that housing cost are certainly a factor.
I know last night isn't the first time they have said they want to move south.
Being closer to where the shows production company is is likely a big factor also.

I know homeschooling has been mentioned briefly, but I think only referring to doing preschool at home.
North Carolina has a huge home-school population and several groups that plan fildtrips, co-ops etc. In fact the leader of carlina homeschools posts on the homeschool thread. They plan a yearly homeschool event at WDW.

Why is that disgusting? Had you rather them get paid the amount in cash and then turn around and buy a house?
If the rumors are true, part of the house includes a separate area for the production crew, including a kitchen.

I been avoiding this thread because I don't get into the whole so called reality TV thing.

I have read and seen reports that these two do go around to different churches and speaking engagements and describe how tough things are for them at times. They do get what is called "love offerings" (big donations) from the different places they speak at. Basically the general public along with the company who makes the show, is paying them quite well. People in the real world raising families don't get those kind of breaks or treatment. Some people like me are amazed at how and what lengths this couple will go to make some coin. Doesn't make me or those others, bad or mean people, just kind of dismayed at what we see. What are some of you going to say if a years down the road those kids are in poor finical shape and J & K are not together anymore? Once the spotlight fades away and show is forgotten, usually things are far different than what people saw in front of the camera.

What I'm hoping is that they are investing that money and not blowing it all, then down the road they will still have money. I hope they are putting money into college funds for the 8 kids and making sure they will not need anything financially for that.

They really are not different then the big sports stars or celebs that are raking in the big bucks over a short period of time, need to make the money while they can because someday it will be over.

I'm not really a basher but just post my honest opinion either way.

I hope the vacation to Hawaii was a blast. I can't imagine taking that many kids on a trip that long so I hope that the parents had a chance to relax and enjoy some time alone after their vow renewal.

As for the house in NC being built by Figure 8 - I'll believe that one when I see it. If they indeed are building a dream house like that then they are betting that the show will be popular for years to come - quite a large gamble if you ask me. I can't see the show maintaining the same level of popularity as the tup's get older.

Agreed - it's ridiculous.

Although, would it kill jenny to wear a pair of shorts that covered her behind and were not a size too small? Has anyone else noticed her clothing choices? (disclaimer: this is in no way meant to imply that I think jon and jenny would "hook up". yuck.)

Random thought. I was just watching jon and kate and "mady's day" was on. AKA the gum episode which stirred up an insane amount of controversy. Anyway, it reminded me that they have been showing that episode a lot in the past couple months. For instance, at my mom's house (I just moved out) I had the dvr set to recored all episodes of j&K. I would then go in and delete episodes that I wasn't interested in watching. I recall seeing "mady's day" on there at least every other day. Crazy huh?

Kate had made a comment one time about doing preschool "at home".

There have been rumors that they were going to send the little ones to the same preschool that Mady and Cara went to, which is at their church an hour away. That seems kinda far fetched to me.

Since the move rumors have surfaced, people on GWoP have come up with the idea that Kate is going to homeschool all the kids. Actually what they are predicting is that TLC will supply a tutor and Kate will act like she is the one teaching them.

Rumors. They are rumors.
Even if it were true, who cares? The Roloff's (Little People, Big World) have done a lot of renovations to their home and I'm sure they didn't pay for it all themselves either. Each company gets their advertising and the family gets a perk, big deal.

The house being built by Figure 8 is a rumor started on GWoP. Honestly, I wish people would stop reading that site. It is just hateful!

I agree with pp that I don't see any "disgusting" about J&K getting a new house. If Figure 8 is paying for it...more power to J&K.

I think how J&K and the kids deal with the end of the show will depend on how J&K approach it. The kids are not living in the same "fish bowl" that child actors live in...years and years in the spotlight, parties, magazine covers and school on the set. These kids have a sense of the "real" world without cameras. If J&K emphasis the positive aspects of no doing the show, I'm sure they will transition fine.

I suspect that other sites are wrong about Kate not letting the show go anytime soon. I think the hints about privacy and moving may signal the beginning of the end. They haven't said anything specific that I can recall but I have always gotten the feeling that they were taking the perks while they can but when it was over, it was just over...I kept remembering the episode where they drive out to look at a piece of property (I think it was one of the kids special days) and Kate and Jon talk about "planning and dreaming" about the future.
