Those scenes are from early episodes...and they would still have to serve the food and clean up even if the actual food was provided. We also haven't seen Beverly (who folds the laudry) in the new season.

I don't know....if that WASN'T Jodi's sister's blog, then I think there would be an online statement as such from Jon and Kate's camp...or at least Jodi. I'm inclined to believe it is her sister writing it.

We have seen Kate preparing meals up until the end of this past season. I believe the new season has just started w/in these past few weeks so I don't know how you can claim she no longer prepares the food for the family.

Again, JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T SHOW IT ON THE SHOW DOESN'T MEAN IT'S NOT HAPPENING. We have seen Beverly and various others help many times in the past; the producers just may be deciding not to show those scenes anymore. What would be the point of constantly showing someone folding laundry and someone putting it away. It was mentioned on the show that Kate gets help with this, they've showed it, now they've moved on to showing other parts of their life. Doesn't mean that all this help has abandoned Kate because she's horrible.

As for Jon & Kate issuing an "online statement" against the blogger claiming to be Jodi's sister: Seriously? If they responded to every negative blog or post about them, they would never be off the computer. It's called "Not dignifying the comments with a response." Besides, publically responding would give this pathetic person EXACTLY what they want - more attention.

I agree with a pp - what started out as a blog defending Jodi has now just turned into a Kate-bashing. If this person was truly Jodi's sister, and we all believe Jodi is a sweet and caring as she says she is, then I would have thought Jodi would have pulled the plug on this tirade days ago. I'm not buying a single word and I'm done reading it.

I didn't get to see the first half of last night's show - will have to check it out in it's entirety today. Did see the fuss over not eating dinner and not being able to get the cupcake. Aedan cracked me up! I loved Jon & Kate's logic re: dessert after dinner - you don't want to reward them for clearing their plate; dessert is just a treat if you've made a significant dent in your meal. I had the same logic in my house. If you were too full to eat enough dinner, then you're clearly to full to have room for dessert.

And - I can't believe how old they all are now; they are all just talking and interacting so much more maturely. It's been nice to see them gorw.

I loved Aiden reaction to not getting his cupcake. That has replaced (I think it was Leah's) I - want - a ba - gel. QUOTE]

My favorite kid moment last night was when they were putting the icing on his cupcake, and Joel goes "Oh My!" He said it so cute!

Oh my - that bagel comment was hysterical! You're right, Aiden's comment has to rank right up there!

(and it was Alexis who uttered that famous rant.)

The episode last night made me feel really bad for the kids. Because they were wearing yellow polos and their Gymboree dresses, they were not allowed to eat their birthday cupcakes till they got home. Fine. Jon was letting the kids sneak a little icing at their bday party..Kate was like "No no no we don't do that... Don't let them get messy, you don't have to do stain removal.." WTH, Kate, icing is not going to stain those outfits? What is wrong with you? It's their BDAY, lighten up. And then they got home, and she enforces more rules..she made this organic, healthy dinner for their dinner, whatever, it's their bday, how about a pizza? And then gets all mad when the kids don't eat it, and then the 3 boys didn't even get any birthday cake at ALL. On their bday. That's just wrong. I felt so sad for the boys, not even getting bday cake on their 4th bday.

Kate was being rude to the women at the bakery?
Also they clearly said the kids didn't have finish their dnner to have the cupcakes. Just just needed to eat a few bites, which Aaden would not do.

I get that on a normal day but I felt like it was kind of mean to the kids not to loosen up on their bday. Remember, last year they had a huge carnival for their bday- with hotdogs, cotton candy..and then this year they have cupcakes in a bakery (their choice, suposedly) which they can't eat until after they eat the dinner mom picked out. She could have made something more kid friendly that that, it was their bday after all. I would think that if 50% of the kids aren't eating it, it wasn't a good choice for a birthday dinner. Call me crazy.

I do think that Kate has to lighten up with Jon, too, about his weight. So she is able to stay skinny, good for her. Jon is NOT that bad, I could see if he was 300 lbs get on him for the health reasons..but he looks, what, 190-210ish? Leave him alone! I would be so hurt if my DH did that to me. :sad1:

Last night's show wasn't their actual birthday. Kate had said the sextuplets had recently turned 4 and they had a special family day together (not filmed for the show); last night's show was an extra treat they got to do on top of that.

Last night's episode had my 8 yr old DS and I cringing and fussing at the TV. We couldn't believe she was so stupid as to not change their clothes, then spend the entire time in the bakery worrying about them getting dirty. I mean really! I have been getting more and more annoyed with Kate with each episode. And when they were eating the fondant and she made the comment about edible food coloring and "We just don't do that." I took it to mean that they kids were eating something non-organic AND it was sugary with food coloring. GET OVER IT! SHEESH!

She was also super mean about Jon's weight last night. Poor guy. I'm really starting to think he isn't happy, how could he be?

Oh, ok, I didn't catch that. I was thinking (after she said at the beginning of the show) that this was instead of the carnival because they chose not to do a carnival this year because everyone wanted to make cupcakes. Still..I don't know..dinner or no dinner..the kid spent all that time decorating the cupcake, I would probably live wild and let him eat it.

I would be really hurt if I was Jon and the weight thing. As for the food coloring, I got the same impression. Considering how the bakery opened up especially for them, I think it was kind of rude to say that in their presence. Really..if she was just going to throw the boys' cupcakes away, and the girls were only able to eat a little of them- she could have saved themselves the trip (and the bakery owner's time) to just do the project at home. Gee, I wonder what the bakery owner is thinking..that she spent all that time, probably for free, and the boys weren't even allowed to eat them. At all. Sometimes, Kate doesn't realize that what she says/does affects more than just HER, you know?

hi everyone! i love this thread and everyones views on the show!

one thing i noticed last night that made me go whhhhaaaat? was Cara's nails! did anyone else notice how LONG they were? for an 8 year old? IS this normal? I noticed it when she was decorating her cake. They are very long, for an 8 y.o IMO.......Looks like she gets them professionally done.

I remember she was growing them out. I can't imagine it would be easy to play with nails like that. I don't know, they aren't a big outdoorsy type of family though.

I have to agree that Kate is getting more annoying. The kids turned 4 and THEY didn't want a party. My DGD will be 4 and that is all she wants. Who takes kids to a bakery to decorate in good clothes? Take them in something that can be thrown out if it gets to dirty. It made me think of the Disney trip when the kids were "ruined" because of the ice cream. I like my grandkids to look nice when they go out but they are kids and dirt happens. That is why I carry extra clothes and wipes to clean them up.

Just my opinion but I don't think Kate was too enthused about the whole bakery/cupcake thing from the beginning. Messy, too much sugar, not organic, etc. Maybe the producers suggested it and she had to go along?

They had a special family day on the actually birthday that i gather was not filmed. I have a feeling the cupcake "thing" was at the insistence of the show so that the fans would see something for the kids birthday.

As for the food coloring, I totally get where Kate is coming from.
I just read a study this week that showed 80% of kids with ADD symptoms show improvement with a chemical free diet. Did you know that most of the artificial coloring approved for use in the US is banned in most European and Asian countries.

I can't remember if it was posted earlier in the thread or not, but there is one thing that is driving me absolutely nuts. The kids are four years old, why in the world are they still in high chairs and drinking out of sippy cups?!!!? That just blows my mind. My DD turned four the end of April and she has been out of high chair for a couple of years now. She has also been drinking out of a regular glass since she was probably abt. 15-17 mos. old. I keep picturing them having a long bench on each side of the table for the kids to sit on. They could have the benches made a little higher up so there is no need for a booster seat. Are the kids using the regular potty now or do they still have to use the portable, training potties? To me, that has been something I thought went on way too long when the kids obviously know how and when they have to go. My thinking is that they are still using the portable potties since several of them got up from the table last night to go pee. Since Kate doesn't like messes so much, why doesn't she eliminate that extra dirty chore? I like this show, but Kate really needs to learn how to lighten up a little, have a little fun, and not criticize every little thing.

Oh! one other thing about last night's show. Haven't they always said they have an extra set of clothes, wipes, etc. for all the kids in the van. Couldn't she have changed them in those extra clothes for the cupcakes? Sheesh, the kids are old enough to put on their own clothes without the parents having to do absolutely everything for them. Give them a little independence.

the potties and "baby talk" came up in wither this thread or another one.
IMHO one must remember that preemies and multiples are usually delayed in their development.
Also it appears that they have 3 bathrooms in the house and there are 10 people. I would think that having potties would be pretty necessary just to have enough places to go.

As for Kate needing to lighten up. She is very clearly OCD (at least). She can't just lighten up.

Ok, Kate is really over the top. Does anyone wonder whether it is purposefully exaggerated for the ratings?
I cracked up yesterday.. Jon is really funny a lot of times.
He told the little ones at the table he was helping them at (I don’t remember which 3 he had) “if you can lick your elbow you can eat your cupcake”
I love his sense of humor. :rotfl2:

Call me crazy, but I don't recall seeing what she prepared for their dinner in last nights episode. I saw the little kids eating, but for the life of me I have no idea what they were eating. So, it is entirely possible that she did prepare pizza or hot dogs or something kid friendly.

Kate is being criticized because she didn't bring a second set of clothing. Didn't anyone hear what she had to say about that? She didn't bring a change of clothing because she didn't want Jon to fuss at her about having to change 8 kids. So, it is one of those things that no matter what she does, she can't win.

And this really, really bugs me. Why don't people ever hold Jon accountable for the well being of the kids. Why didn't he bring a change of clothes for the kids? I mean, he is their father after all. And when that didn't happen, why didn't he get criticized for not bringing a change of clothes?

Good points!

LOL... I can't help but laugh at the assumptions that organic/healthy food can't be kid friendly, if the boys weren't eating it is wasn't kid friendly etc.
At any given time I usually have organic hot dogs, mac and cheese, frozen pizza etc in the house.
When Maddy was feeding one of the girls, it looked like either pizza, or maybe a quesadilla with salsa on it.

ITA.... I guess a lot of ladies just have a big crush on him or something.
I keep expecting to read a post criticizing Kate for what was said about not eating food that the kids made/touched, when Jon was right there saying the same thing and making the same gestures.
