Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

Cara & Maddy never have had a big blow out B-day. So why should the 6?

During their 3rd birthday -the big one with the carnival theme - Kate said they really make a big deal of their birthdays because with the high risk pregnancy, they know how fortunate they are to have all six make it.

Here's what I have noticed:

The "new" season began with the episode of them taking the kids to the park and then for ice cream. The next episode was boys day out, followed by girls day out. None of the friends or family have been in any of these episodes - not Jodi, not Beth, not Nana Janet, not Beverly, not Carla. Every episode had at least one of these people. Now it's just the 10 of them, and neither Kate nor Jon look very happy in these episodes.

Whatever is really going on behind the scenes, we don't know for sure....but something is going on. I can understand Jodi's SIL wanting to defend her sister, but I feel like a situation that maybe could have been rectified is now probably not fixable with all the online stuff. I feel like Kevin, Kate's brother and Jodi's husband, should be the one to be dealing with Kate and Jon on his wife's behalf.

I think Jon's Dad was of French descent, I think I remember him telling the doctor who did the hair plugs.


I wonder if Jon is going to make some bulgogi, I like that. My "friend" is half Korean and have known him for half my life, so I have tasted some Korean food. The kimchi-that is truly an acquired taste.

Should be an interesting show.

Cool! I hadn't realized, nor had my hubby who usually has a radar for his fellow Koreans, that Jon was Korean. (with the last name I'm going to assume he's half, which makes it even odder that hubby didn't get that, b/c he's half as well and always knows when someone else is...he and other people have been known to lock eyes across a room, walk towards each other, and ask "your mother?" about which parent is Korean, LOL)

Wee bit sad if this is their first taste of Korean food, but then again, my 4 year old refuses to eat anything but rice from his grandmother's house, so maybe they've refused so far.

Jon's mother is Korean and he said last night that his father is half French.

I have heard Kate talk a couple of times about them having Korean food and how much they love it. I guess it is just time for them to pass the tradition on to the kids.

I just don't understand how anyone can assume that the twins haven't had a big blowout party; just because it's not shown on the show doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I know one year, Jon and Kate took the twins to NYC to American Girl place for their birthdays; think that's a pretty significant celebration.

I know this is not directed just at me, but Kate has said she plans the "little kids" parties for months in advance because they know how blessed they are to have all of them healthy, etc. I know the girls have done the American Girl store and then they did a spend the night with Beth's daughter after having dinner out last birthday. Now, yes that is their choice. But, I am sure they would love to know their mom planned and thought about their parties also. I know Maddie is a pain but sometimes she makes a lot of sense. She makes statements that are very telling at times.

I love this show. I love the kids and I try to remember that we all have our faults. I am no where near perfect. I know that.

That's exactly my point. I didn't mean for anyone to take my post personally. I just think we all need to remember that this show is just a 30 minute capsule of a day in the life. Just because we don't see something,doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Someone was trashing Kate earlier for not watching Jodi's kids - well, we don't know that Jodi's kids don't spend time at Kate's. The show is not about that.

I agree with Yserbear; they've already showed a big party for the sextuplets; maybe they didn't want to repeat themselves. It's a tv show folks - the producers can pick and choose what they want us to see.

hi new here...glad i found thisthread...i love love jon and kate plus 8. She may not be perfect but, hey, who is? she may have a lot of help or whatever but there were times when i look at their kids and thank the lord i only have 2!

I bet it came from Jon's father. I'm sure when he passed (which I think was when the tups were babies) he left quite a bit to his kids and grandkids.

They probably didn't get anything from him since he was married to Jon's mom.

I thought during one of the shows he said that his parents were divorced and his mom was remarried.

I though his mom remarried after his father's death which is why they don't see her that often anymore.

I'm guessing if the twins had a b-day party with friends, it probably would not be filmed since some parents do not want their children on TV? They never show them at school either.

They would have to get releases from all the parents. they did show them at sunday school, they must have gotten permission in advance from the church.

they also blurred out the faces of some of the kids in the sunday school room (i think some of the parishoner's faces were blurred out too when they showed j&k in the worship area).

i kind of wonder if they scaled back on the BIG parties because of a lack of people willing to help out. you look to those big bday parties (like the outdoor one with the pony, face painting, the clown, bounce houses, the carnival games, the bbq...) and they were accomplished largly because the people who helped on a regular basis (and their spouses) were pitching in big time. now we rarely see allot of these people or even hear them mentioned so maybe they've scaled back, and left to having to either hire out or do more of the work on their own, j&k have opted to down size (honestly, when i planned parties on the scale of those the six-pack had, the planning was the easy part, the execution was the challenge. having people you know and trust will take care of their assigned portion either required very generous and capable volunteers or well trained and equitable compensated staff).

I love the show and I love Jon, Kate and the kids. Jon and Kate came to my city last fall and spoke at a church. They did not seem "money hungry" at all and were very humble, down-to-earth people. I would like to know...when they came to your church, was a basket ( or whatever ) sent around for donations? I don't really care either way about the blogs etc. I am just really curious.
