Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

I know I keep hearing people say that Jon & Kate had a chance to adopt a new-born at one point but passed. I do believe it has briefly been mentioned on the show. If I remember correctly, it was when the twins were very little. I've even read post here on the DIS calling them selfish for passing on that adoption. Fact is we have no idea why they passed on that adoption.

I do wonder why they didn't mention it last night, but as we have seen from some of the clip/behind the scenes shows, a lot gets cut. I know they said that some deleted scenes will be shown during tomorrows marathon, but I'm assuming that is just from the episodes being aired.

I had read somewhere that one of Kate's patients (she was a maternity nurse) wanted to give her baby to Kate. It was a Korean baby, but for some reason they passed.

Anyone else watch tonight's show, where they looked back on "how it all began"? I thought it was very entertaining - plus they honeymooned in Disney World!! They were asked directly about the grandparents not being involved, and Kate just said that at this point in time, it's better they aren't involved...but that doesn't mean that they don't love them or they hate them. Still strange, I think. John talked about how his dad passed away eight months after the babies were born, and they both said his dad was very involved. John said his mom was remarried and works full time. They both then said they just aren't dependent on their parents.

Jon also mumbled right at the end of this explanation: "We aren't going to make anymore excuses for them, leave it at that."

The Producer was asking them point blank questions: To me it seems like the producers were taking our questions from this website, but I have been on the TLC's webpage and they are really brutual over there-so maybe they were just trying to really clarify a lot of the questions.

Kate did admit that she and Jon are totally honest with each other-and they try to take their disagreements to another part of the house. A few times during the interview-Jon looked really sad, and Kate kept commenting how she has to remember how young of a Father he is. "Hello Kate, you are only 2 years older!"

When the producer asked Kate how she felt when she found out she was having six, did anyone hear her say the number "seven" at first. Was Kate actually pregnate with seven?

I noticed that, too, but then they showed the u/s, and there were only 6.

Yes, there were seven, but one didn't develop.

Loved last nights show and I hope it shuts the mouth of that horrid person from the other thread that was bad mouthing Jon and Kate, and has the horrible blog.

They discuss the 7 on their website - I think the link was posted a few pages back. Like the OP stated it didn't develop early on. I'm not sure why we saw the pic with just 6 sacs, not 7.

I was thinking the same thing - they were addressing alot of the things I've read other people slamming them for. Jon just seemed annoyed that he even had to explain themselves (which I don't blame him!)

Seriously, I feel like I've seen another side of them after watching last night's show. I like and admire them even more!

My sentiments exactly ::yes::

Just found this thread and wanted to stop and say HI!

I love the show and watch it religiously. Had I known there was an official thread, I'd have shown up to the party sooner! :woohoo:

the first US showed 7, but I believe the 7th never had a heart beat.

Jon also mumbled right at the end of this explanation: "We aren't going to make anymore excuses for them, leave it at that."
Oh boy I heard that. Kate kept trying to make it sound "good". I can blame Jon.

The Gosselin's website is www.sixgosselins.com; in the "Our Story" section, they talk about the baby they could have adopted.

Sounds like it was a very tramatic situation for them, so maybe they told the producers they weren't going to discuss it on air. I see it as very self-LESS that they didn't adopt the baby and instead let him have a chance with a couple who had no children. Maybe they felt that since they had two already and could maybe have more, that they would let someone else have a chance. Kate mentioned last night about all of the emails they get from people who are never successful with fertility treatment, so they certainly understand that there are people out there who never get even one child.

I thought it was a good episode last night. The old videos were cool. And to the previous poster who mentioned Kate's comment about the honeymoon, I took it to mean that if she had to do it again she would have picked somewhere relaxing or peaceful. I didn't think it was a slight against Disney or anything, especially since they've gone back to WDW since their honeymoon and Kate seems to enjoy Disney.

And frankly I think people just need to stop asking about the Grandparents. It is really none of our business. You could tell that Kate was trying to not say too much.

The best part were the old movies though. The ones with the kids were great.

One of the best episodes! :) And I agree with the other poster who said they now respect them more.

Welcome too. We all seem to get along:rotfl: and can discuss situations that we may not all agree upon, but we all enjoy the show-maybe not every episode, but most.

I loved the video with Jon's dad and one of the twins. :cloud9: Seems like he was one grandparent that really wanted to be a part of their lives. As for the other grandparents, we got probably as much info as we will ever get and I guess that's good enough. It is obviously a touchy subject with Jon and Kate.

As far as the Disney comment, I don't think Kate was being hateful or negative against Disney. In the video she said, "we just did 4 parks in 4 days" An island would probably be just a tad more relaxing for a honeymoon.

Overall, I thought last nights episode was really good. It was fun watching those old videos.

Oh, I LOVED last nite's show! I thought Jon and Kate were so great; and their home videos were adorable! I thought this show, more than any others, truly showed what a great relationship the two of them have! And they both seemed very determined to silence alot of their critics and address some of those "lingering" questions out there about them. Jon, especially, was very adamant and convincing in some of the things he said.

And those early videos of the babies - too precious!!!! It was enjoyable to get that inside peek of the earlier years!
Camster, you are always reading my mind and posting exactly what I am thinking. So, "ditto" on what you said!

Kycha - there's a marathon tomorrow night (Wed.) so maybe they will air that one again if you missed it. It was great!
Thanks Tara! I did stay up and catch the episode at midnight. And I'm glad I did. It was a really good one.

I enjoyed the video with Jon's dad too. I found it very telling when Jon mumbled under his breath that his dad was the grandparent that was involved in the kids lives.

And in the back ground you hear Jon say something like "and jon doesn't feel too good right now"

I've been to their website but somehow missed the info about the infertility and the adoption. She went through testing and does not ovalate. So :furious: to the person who claimed that she only had fertility treatments because she wanted multiples.

I read through the rest of that section She worte it when 26 weeks PG
