Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

I liked the episodes. Nothing spectacular, but it was nice seeing how big the kids have gotten.

I noticed that one of the boys said that "Everything is back to normal again" when the camera crews arrived. Made me think that Kate hasn't been completely blowing the end of taping out of proportion. Those kids have been around a film crew for most of their lives. Of course they were happy to see them. I noticed the older 2 were definitely not as excited and weren't in most of the episode. Don't the little kids go to kindergarten now? I'm asking because otherwise it would make more sense that Kate just has the younger kids eating lunch or something, but maybe the older two asked not to be filmed as much?

I try not to judge children too harshly, so let's just say that I'm glad Mady is not my daughter and she should be glad she's not mine.

I also don't understand the high chair business. And I was a mom who kept mine as long as possible just to keep him in his seat and eating. But 6 year olds?

Overall it made me want to go to Discovery Cove on our next Orlando trip, so the free trip worked for the advertisers.

Aren't they just booster chairs? I didn't see any bars on them to hold them in (and I doubt they could have fit them in if the bars were on). The kids are short..the table is big :confused3.

Maybe so - I don't think I ever looked at their laps. They just looked like restaurant-style high chairs to me. I would think they would have difficulty climbing into them by themselves.

I swear I saw high chairs.

As for Mady, she clearly is not happy about the cameras being back and well I don't blame her. He entire life has been turned upside down for the last year as well as the other kids but I would think it would hit the older kids more.

They look like the high chairs you would use in a restaurant, but if you take off the front bars, it becomes a chair that sits the kids up higher. I don't get the problem with using these.

edited to add..I think it's these with the bar removed. They sell fancier ones that are meant to be used for a child for a long time, but these are a lot less expensive:

I think the highchairs are part of the "they are still babies" that Kate kept repeating yesterday concerning their 6th birthday. I bet they still wear the bibs when they aren't taping. I also think the naps are to give Kate a break. In one scene she was cooking up a storm and in the next scene she was crying in the limo about how she had to sleep?? Remember she does this with no help! She certainly repeated that sentence enough. Especially when they were at Discovery Cove and the employees were instructing them and helping them and guiding them (apparently not enough for Kate) and then they asked her what they wanted for lunch?? How dare they not have a full spread out to accomodate that family. Shame on Discovery Cove for making Kate carry trays of food to her children.

OMG!!! Does she really look the camera straight in the eye and say she has no help? Oh for the love of Pete, shut that woman up!

Last night, DH had this show on, because it was one of two shows being DVR'd. (DD11 has to watch this show). I was in the other room paying bills, and I ordered DH to change the channel. I don't speak to Dh like that, but I can't stand Kate. I can't stand to hear her voice. DD is not allowed to watch that show while I am in the house.

Doesn't Jamie have a son who was shown on past episodes? Wonder what happened to him?? I didn't watch the entire 2 hrs, but the bits and pieces I saw looked like a desperate attempt to save a dying show. I'm sorry, but the meltdown that Cara & Mady had about the birthday party (s) was right on. I predict Cara & Mady will end up living with their father when he gets a place of his own and gets a job. They are treated more like hired help then her older children. I'm sure both of them resent those 6 kids because of the special treatment they get.
When the film crew arrived it looked as though the kids hadn't seen a live person in a year. Maybe they were the only ones who paid attention to them. What a train wreck!:confused3

I think everyone here knows that I am no fan of Mady's. but last night, i really did feel bad for the twins.

I felt very bad for Mady & Cara. I think they are growing up and at that age where things embarass them--like their mothers behavior. Just what 2 young girls want, their family laundry aired on tv for everyone to see. Unless Jamie is being paid a good buck, she won't last. I don't know how anyone in there right mind could put up with Kate!:sad2:

That makes me really sad. :guilty: I feel so bad for them. These are such young children and their life is a circus they are forced to have filmed and shown for profit. The six probably don't get it yet, they don't have the awareness. Those 2 girls do.

I wonder if the new 'laws' don't apply to the kids under 7 with some kind of loophole. We all know (Mady and Cara included) that the 6 are the moneymakers and the draw for the tv show. I'm sure they are told this over and over and they can see it in their daily life.

so is Steve playing the new Jon character?

I watched last nite, and I wished I had Tivo or Charter on Demand, or an old fashion VHS recorder. The commercials killed me.

Kate's meltdown in the limo.
I am assuming she just flew in from LA to NYC on the red eye, and was having major jet lag. I wondered how she did all that flying when she was on DWTS. When I fly anywhere, the next few hours, I am usually so tired and want a nap, or just to go to sleep. Steve must not only be her body guard, but also her personal assistant.

When Maddy had her melt down after the air boat ride, Kate could have explained to Maddy, that they were going to celebrate the birthday again. But then again, Maddy reminded me of my kids when they were 8-11 years old. They were not as bad, but I remember cringing a few times, when they said something embarassing or they stated the obvious in front of strangers.

I agree with you all, Mady and Cara definitely seem to have some resentment toward the sextuplets. Who can blame them though. I was flipping through the channels too and saw the part at the picnic tables where Mady was irritated that the 6 got 3 b-day parties. Boy she did tell Kate! She said that it's not fair (it isn't) that they get 3 and she and Cara only had one. Kate tried to explain that it's because there's 6 of them but Mady came back with a scathing reply that she and Cara are twins yet only get 1 party! Lord love her, that poor child is going to give Kate a run for her money. I've always thought she dotes on the littlest 6 way more than the twins and I'm sure they notice. I felt bad that Mady was so upset, and rightly so. Like someone else said upthread, they are 8 individual kids, not a group package.

I did watch the Kate segment, Kate's world or whatever it was called. I have to say, I did feel a teeny, tiny bit sad for her in the limo. She was on little sleep and had just learned that Jon was planning to sue for custody. I think that was the problem, not that she didn't want to dance but that she couldn't put it out of her mind during rehearsal.

Maybe she divides the kid amount by two and that's how many birthday parites you get LOL. 1 for the twins, 3 for the sextuplets.

:laughing:Maybe!

Seriously though, the sextuplets have received so much attention since birth. And I do think Kate tends to favor them and expect the twins to just suck it up because they're older. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's difficult to divide your time evenly between 8 kids, but Kate should pay more attention to what Cara and Mady are saying. Especially in light of the divorce.

What did you think of the Kate's world segment Doris?

I thought it was her life. I think she has to spend a lot of time defending everything she does. I think some people think she should be a different person and not be true to herself. She just won't collapse under the pressure, and that bothers some.
I think she looks fit and great.

She does look great, her shorter hair cut is very pretty. I agree, she does have to spend time defending all her choices, that would drive me batty if I were her. Which makes it all the more strange that she is continuing to live in the limelight. I really couldn't handle that amount of stress, people leaving threatening notes and emails, I'd crumble to pieces.

Steve's insight was interesting. He seems quite protective of Kate which is obviously the nature of his job. I did get a kick out of him bossing Kate around though! And she lets him too, that's the hilarious part because I couldn't imagine Jon being allowed to do so. But again, that's a different kind of relationship. I did think she came across as more vunerable though, particulary when she told Steve she wanted someone else to make all her decisions for her. That didn't sound like the iron Kate we've seen in the past. I wonder what's going on with her deep down inside.

I don't care for her new look. I think she looks older than she is and her hair is awful unless its made up for a photo shoot.
I think she stays in the limelight because she knows that if she doesn't her "reality" days will be over. She isn't a draw without the "6". That was quite evident at the last book signing in California. The paps were the only ones who showed up along with a few older women. Like they said on the show, people either love her or hate her.
I just don't like the way she lies about how she does it alone and how tough things are when its really the kids that are suffering. I'm sure that Discovery Cove was taped early AM and she had more help than there were people in the cove.

Vulnerable..that was the word I was looking for. I think her hair will be even nicer, once the fake hair is gone.

First of all, I did not get the feeling the older girls were happy to see the camera's. I understand they might have just been caught off guard. The little kids seemed thrilled and the camera people were great towards them.

My first thought was that they were expecting a "big surprise" and thought it would be their Dad. You could almost see them processing before they greeted the crew, whom they obviously had affection for.

I enjoyed the show last night. The parts with Steve were so interesting... he is more a handler than Bodyguard IMO
I had a feeling she was getting death threats & that is why he is always with her.
