2 of the boys were better than the other 4 .. it looks (to me, anyway) that they all started off close to fitted correctly, but as time went on, they weren't. if that's the case, then they probably weren't fitted right from the beginning .. since they shouldn't move at all (or very little).

I don't understand why Jon, Kate, and the nannies are so lax on this issue.

Talking about helmets and a little off topic, did you see tonight on the Duggars, the young one driving the golf cart like a bat out of heck, and those on that swing with no helmet (gosh, that branch could have easily broken and landed on a head)? I thought to myself, I wonder if Marge is watching that. I think she would prefer the kids on the bikes that barely move without helmets than these kids. My heart was in my stomach! They know people are watching them, what's up with no helmets on these shows?

The police officers in my neighborhood give out tickets... to the parents. The kid walks the bike home and the parent is ticketed. 14 and under is our law (unfortunatley it's not for older teens). The middle schoolers ride around with the helmet hanging from their handle bars. The habit of wearing a properly fitted helmet is why we want the tricylcers to wear them as much as for the safety factor. It is not hard to fit a bike helmet, and walmart has a wide variety of brand names. Every package tells you they should fit snuggly right along the eyebrows and be relatively level. Not rocket science. And no, swinging with a helmet is not a law or a common practice. I guess kids could just wear helmets all of the time. The tree branch breaking with a tire swing on it could be tragic for sure. Golf carts and kids, not safe.
I like Kate's eye balls in pic 3! I'd do what she told me to! Is this show going to be a big bore? Watching 6 year olds I don't know ride around in battery cars? Has this become entertainment?

Why doesn't someone teach her how to stand up straight?! Her posture is disgusting...really it looks slothful. ALways dumpy and hunched over. Yeah, I put on that much makeup and yet ANOTHER Loft dress to go go watch my kids play in the driveway (not). And what IS with the constant Loft dresses? ok Kate, you like the Loft, we got it....now branch out with some other styles...those high waisted knit dresses do nothing for your figure with your lousy posture.

What exactly are we supposed to be learning? They used to show the Great Books Festival~that was some good programing back then!

Maybe Loft dresses (I never heard of them) are given to TLC for her. I like Alfred Dunner, and I wear them all the time when not in jeans. Maybe she just likes them.

Getting my hair done, I read the March 22 People magazine. I thought it was pretty interesting, and that she sounded like a loving mom to me. This is all just from memory, so some might not be word for word.

They asked Kate about the 12 days she was away from her kids for DWTS, and she said it was hard for them all, but that Jon was with them for 9 of the 12 days and their loved babysitter for the other three. She said that was why they have the type of custody they settled on. She also said her kids love Jon and that she would never keep them from him. She said they were able to call her as often as they wished and she usually got a dozen calls a day..and she was happy about that.

She did address working as a nurse. She said to support them she would have to work 12 hour days and weekends. With the type of jobs she is doing now, it gives her the biggest blocks of times with her kids, and that is what she hopes to have. She does always have nursing, if needed, but she would rather do this..a job she actually loves, and have the bonus of being with the kids in larger blocks of time.

They out and out asked her if she had had 'enhancement' surgery, and she said, please, who has had time for that..no she has not, but she's happy to hear that her work outs and running is working, that so many people think she had to have surgery (and talk about it all the time) to have her figure. She talked about her clothes and how she wore sloppy clothes for a long time, and people have porblems with her dressing nicer and wearing make-up. Her kids are older time has passes and that's how she wants to dress now.

There was a lot more in it, like the dogs are coming back, she realizes they are part of the family, and she wouldn't get rid of two of her kids and she was wrong to send the dogs away.

They talked about bringing the kids to CA while she was practicing, and she thought they had had enough changes this year, and didn't need to be in a different school, away from home, etc.

I thought it was a good read. Prob if you don't like Kate you would not see it as a positive article, but I thought is was good. PS: she did say she hoped to win DWTS (LOL) and her kids would see that if you work hard enough, dreams could come true (or something like that), and if she lost, they would see that you just can't win at everything, no matter how hard you try. Someone has to lose.

Funny..DWTS never mentioned her posture and they are big on it. I never even noticed it until it was mentioned here. I still wouldn't say it was disgusting, since I don't know if it's something she is doing on purpose.

I have to remember to stand up straight and not slouch. I just got on my Wii board to see how I was doing, and it told me, I was slouching and my age came to 85 today. I just got done working out at the YMCA and my legs were jittery. I'm going to try it tomorrow morning and see if it is going to yell at me again for slouching.

I live in Central PA an hour from the Reading area. It has been cold, windy, cloudy, and rainy here and I have been in long pants and sweaters since Sat. No way would I be in the driveway with a dress and flip flops.

My son was in Reading on Sat night and went to Jon's favorite hangout, Legends. It is a big hangout place for adults in there 20's. No Jon sighting on Sat night.

My Wii and I both moan when I get on the Wii board.

Is anyone planning to attend this? I wonder, what do people think this will accomplish, other than making the kids afraid to be outside. They even have set up a facebook about this. I guess I just can't get into other people's life's so much..I have enough going on in my own without interferring in someone elses. Does anyone really think this would do anything to help the kids? I hate that it's legal for the paps to be outside their driveway, and why would anyone think this is a nice thing to do?:

Because I think it's that people dislike Kate so much, and they love Michele. People say but I just love what the Duggars stand for (which I do too, just doesn't need to be on TV), and Kate is just trying to make money off her kids. Unless the Duggars stopped getting paid and going on trips like K + 8, I don't see a lot of difference. In their defense the Duggars don't show the more private moments (potty training for instance) that K + 8 has shown. However, in both cases, if they didn't have the kids, neither would be on TV. So both families are using the kids for money IMO.
That said, I watch both shows LOL, even though I love watching the Gosselin kids more than the Duggar kids.

Really? That's tacky if you ask me. I wouldn't dream of protesting outside someone's home like that. What if the kids see, how do you explain that? I don't think it will accomplish anything and most likely will just harden Kate even more to film the kids.

I agree, Michelle is much less abrasive on tv than Kate. I don't care for either show since they are doing the same thing regardless of what they choose to show. And yes, neither family would be on reality tv if it weren't for their abnormally sized families. The Duggars do seem to have a much better handle on their children and their priorities but I still can't understand why they need to be on tv? I don't get it, they're a Christian conservative family (nothing wrong with that at all) yet they choose to put their family on tv for the world to see? Especially now during such a difficult time with baby Josie? I hope they don't follow the same path J&K took.

A little OT but I saw a commercial for a new TLC family with 5 or 6 babies. What was a bit disturbing is that the husband complained repeatedly that he had so many babies at once, that he missed his wife and that life is so hard. He even said that everyone keeps telling him that babies are a blessing and he was like, ya right. Seriously, if this guy already feels this way I can only imagine the tension in that household. It's like another J&K train wreck coming. Did anyone else catch it?

I have explained this one before. Ok, I think exploiting your children for money is wrong. And it would appear there is a double standard, but i don't think the Duggars are exploiting their kids for money. I think they invite cameras in to their home to be evangelical and spread their faith. They don't NEED the money. I'm sure it helps out, but they still buy shoes at the thrift store, and they show the world that this is ok, because life is not about material possesions, but about loving family. This is why the Duggars don't bother me one bit, and the sight of Kate makes my skin crawl:

1. The Duggars have always been self-sufficient without any money from a show. They were able to support their family on their own without any help from filming. J&K have NEVER been able to support their family on their own without donations, gimmes, and income from a show. Duggars did not have babies for profit, Gosselins did.

2. In the Duggars case, I think they use the show not to exploit their kids, but to be evangelical and get the word out about how the Lord is so important in their family life. J&K used Christianity to make it look like God was important in their lives so that their "brand" or "product they sell" which is their kids would be more palatable to the public. They used to talk the talk, but none of us have ever seen them walk the walk. Kate showed up at churches to put her hand out, but we have never seen them give back at all. (except to sell some clothes at a yard sale that had been GIVEN to her as donations and then give the proceeds to a charity) - big deal.

3. I actually learn ALOT from watching the Duggars, about faith, about family, about organization, about how to handle such large crowds, etc. I never learned anything from the Gosselins , other than they need to expect everyone to give them stuff to survive.

4. Duggars life has not changed drastically since their show. They are not going on trips every month etc. They still live their live the same. Gosselin were not even recognizable after they got a show.

5. Duggars don't film private family times. When ever the crews are there it is a time when other firends and family are there too. It is just extras in the room documenting. THe kids are not followed, they just sort of go in and out. You almost never see Jana, because I don't think she like being on camera much. Gosselins, nothing was sacred.

6. Michelle and JimBob are the real deal, and have much to teach and have kept their convictions. Jon and Kate, umm, no, not at all.

7. Michelle, nice and kind. Kate, ummm, no, not at all. Nasty, selfish, gimme gimme gimme. Exploitive.

Wow, that's quite a justification!

As far as I'm concerned, profiting from your children is profiting from your children. The show is called "19 Kids and Counting", which sounds to me like they are marketing their children. If they aren't, then it should be called something different. It doesn't matter how much "nicer" you appear on camera.
