Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

It must really depend on if you like her or don't. I didn't think she was saying other's didn't help or sacrifice. I think she was just saying how she felt. This is a book from her about her and her family. And that the kids are worth everything to her. While I don't agree that all her decisions were good ones, I do think she does in her mind. And I assume (yes, I know what they say about assume LOL) the biggest sacrifice was a great one, to have all of them against her doctors wishes.

bleh, I could't get through the opeing pages. I think I stopped at -"I want to
share with each of my eight children about our life together so they
will know without a shadow of a doubt how much I love them and
how much every decision and sacrifice I made was worth it for them."

Vomit smily needed. Yeah, no one else sacrificed at all for the kids....Jon..people that made donations...their church...Jodi and Kevin...Beth...no one else. It was all Kate. Uh huh.

Good grief, apparently 'normal' is her new favorite word! I read through the whole thing and I have to say, it was bizarre. She talks about her fans as if there were pests that she wanted to shoo away. She even said that she feels that fans are more concerned about what they can get from her rather than respecting her situation. And then she goes on to say that she was frankly annoyed that fans wouldn't leave her alone. Does she understand the meaning of the word celebrity?
Madge, I'm thinking that all of your friend's reports were true out there when Kate came last year. She is saying that basically she wished they'd all leave her alone and because she felt that way, she handled them (the fans) badly.

I think Kate's opinion of the fans has been widely reported. None of that was a suprise to me.

What's even more disturbing is hearing her complain that all she wants is a normal life, to be left alone and inconspicuous. Which is why she's on DWTS then, right? Because that's low profile. I hate to say it but I think she is really self delusional. Reading that gave a perfect glimpse into how she really thinks.

it was strange reading, for sure. contradictory. Kate's claim that she was home alone with the children all day? It's been widely reported (and confirmed, IIRC) that the Gosselins have had people/helpers in the house pretty much 24/7. Kate has said over and over that the children didn't watch much TV, but the babies had TV in their room (which we saw on the show) so they could watch before their naps. (and before anyone says anything, I know that the possibility exists that was the only TV they watched all day. LOL)

One thing that surprised me? The part about the pediatrician's office. I can't imagine how frustrating it must have been to work with that office if they weren't willing to help the Gosselins out, having so many children. Now I'm not saying that they should prescribe antibiotics for one if another was sick, but I don't think that it's unreasonable to expect a little help (getting appointments, etc) from the office when you're a large family.

But in the end, I was left with an ehhh.. feeling. Stop pointing out that you're not ordinary. We know that. LOL.

I didn't read a word of Multiple Blessings. Wasn't some of this content covered in that book?

But in the end, I was left with an ehhh.. feeling.

I think my ehhh...feeling is going to come when I see what she actually wrote to the kids and made public. The other stuff, is just stuff.

I am surprised, with copyright laws, that so much of her book has been copied and posted on sites.

What a complete bore...the book that is. Those extraordinary things she describes sound like life. What was she expecting with a bunch of little kids? I had 3 in 5 years and that's stuff we all do. They puke and poop and cry and make messes and we clean it up and love them. We miss work for doctors appointments. We take kids to the doctor several days in a row. I took my oldest twice in the same day when he had chicken pox after being vaccinated!

Did she really think being on TV wouldn't attract attention in public? She is just not all there.

She was stressed about all of her 2 year olds seeing the TV from their cribs. What in the world were two year olds doing laying in their cribs alone watching movies?

Why would the kids want to read this stuff; they have the dvd's. popcorn::

Sooo, it appears Jon had yet another new girlfriend. He's taken up to hiding in bars in the area. Next weekend I will stalk him and post the pictures. (kidding!) But we are going to the bar that he now hangs at. I'll let you know if anything interesting happens. ;)

Don't you mean normal?:laughing::laughing:

I too thought it odd that she said she was home ALONE with all the kids. We've already discussed in the past all the help/volunteers she's had. Which I don't have a problem with either. She needed help with all those little ones, I would've too. But to say that she was doing it by herself is misleading.

I didn't read Multiple Blessings either so I have no idea.

I agree with the bolded part. (how they got to the point of having so many fetuses has been debated ad nauseum, no need to go there again :upsidedow)

it was strange reading how much the children were/are wanted and loved combined with how nothing they did was normal or ordinary. Normal or ordinary to who? Certainly not the kids. Having a big family is all they've ever known. Why keep saying things like they way we made breakfast wasn't ordinary or normal? I didn't get that part. :confused3

what I posted today -- the pdf file -- came straight from Zondervan.

I'm trying to figure out how they ate that much cereal and that many eggs. I've done the math..those kids must really chow down.

That's interesting..wonder why they are giving out so much info. Soemone donated the Blessing Book and the first three seasons on DVD to our cat rescue garage sale in May..anyone want to bid on them LOL?

:laughing::lmao:That is hilarious!

I agree with what you've said and I too had my kids all 18 months apart. At one point I had 2 in diapers and 1 in pull-ups. I wasn't shouting from the rooftops that I had it difficult or that this wasn't normal. It was life and you deal with it. Granted it wasn't 6 babies at once but again, we know Kate had help. I had absolutely no family around so it was up to me and that was fine.

I thought the tv thing was weird too. Does it matter that your 2 year olds can't see the tv perfectly when they're in bed napping? I didn't have a tv in my room as a toddler, did you? Heck I didn't ever have a tv in my room as a child.

In general, I thought all her musings were strange. Definitely not a book I'll be buying. Wonder how many pics of the kids will be sprinkled throughout too.

Did anyone else think it was gross that Kate left baked goods as presents on top of the garbage for the trash men?? Ewwww! Who would eat that?

I have to comment on this, the bolded part. My dh is a driver for a well know company and yes they do. When it is on the top of the can they know it is for them. As long as it is sealed they are good to go. They love getting goodies like this from their clients. Waters and drinks are even better. :cool2:

I didn't know that! I wasn't knocking the gesture, I thought it was kind to offer something but I was grossed out by the fact it was put out on top of garbage! And that the garbage men have to handle trash with their gloves and then use them to pick up the goodies left for them. I agree that drinks would be a better idea too.:goodvibes

maybe that explains how the kids could survive on a piece of turkey and a few grapes for lunch. LOLOL

Yes both of you it is really good for the men and women to get little goodies like that especially the drinks in the hot weather. I do have to share a funny story. Last week dh said this little old lady came running outside to give them something. When she gave it to them they thanked her but was very confused as she gave then each a package of sliced cheese!!! :lmao:

He said they just took it and showed a lot of gratitude since she was so old and she came running out there. But they all thought it was great and had a good laugh for the day. Cute little old lady.

Awww, bless her sweet heart! And it warms my heart too to hear that the men showed such gratitude.:goodvibes

My grandmother is very old and the last time we visited her, she wanted to cook for us. It was some kind of strange, meaty pie. The taste wasn't very good (I think it was ground cow tongue or something) but we all smiled and ate up our whole plates. There was no way we were going to hurt her feelings when she'd gone to so much trouble for us.:goodvibes We thanked her several times for a wonderful meal and she was thrilled.

You know what I got from that? And, yes, I realize I am a cynic, ;) but I took it to mean they were so poor and deprived they only had a tiny tv with a screen so small the 8 kids couldn't watch it at one time. (now you are suuposed to feel pity welling up and the desire to send a check).

They napped for 4 hours a day, they had to do something in there.

I must have missed something -- but that is nothing new. New girl friend? Bars? Sources please

Have you ordered the book yet? If so, you must review it for us!

Re. copyright -- Zondervan is publishing/allowing large excerpts to increase sales and titivate potential buyers. Check out Amazon sometime -- it is now *normal* for publishers to do this :)

Zondervan is probably delighted that people are posting the link all over the internet.

I got as far as the Gosselin fire evacuation planning (sorry, per Kate, "interrogations"). I wonder whether Kate knows that Smoke Alarms Save Lives!
