Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

I'm sorry, I did mean a week..that's still pretty cheap, if all products are including. Heck, just the female products for that many teens are up there in price.

This is what I had hoped I wouldn't start LOL.
Michelle and Jim Bob did build the kitchens of their dreams. K & J's new kitchen appeared to be a TLC dream, and was donated by the kitchen people. I have no idea if M & JB would say yes if TLC offered them the same.

Again, until their books come out, I have no idea how the kids feel about used clothes and shoes. Nothing to do with competition, and everything to do with having something no one else wore. Not always. Just sometime. Who knows, maybe a hissy fit was thrown over it..if M & JB didn't want it shown, I trust it would not be.

They have been on a fair share of plane trips.

I have no idea since we only see what TLC wants us to see. TLC wanted us to see Kate just as we saw her. I assume you are talking about the adults, since I never thought the Goss kids had any entitlement issues.

Does Kate not want to let it go, or is that TLC pushing her? I'd just as soon see her have her fame, if that's what she wants, and let the kids stay home.

I wonder what would happen if some of the D kids dared to tell mom and dad they no longer wanted to be on a show. And while I'm on a roll..what's with all the PDA between the older boy and his wife? Most of the church people I know, keep that private. Oh a kiss here and there, but she's always grabbing onto him.

I have "no idea" if the older boy and his wife have alot of PDA as we see only what TLC wants us to see. Maybe they just edit it that way to make it seem that way.

I scrolled back and didn't see that this has been posted yet...forgive me if it was and I missed it...

Z tells it like it is.

Interesting article. He's definitely not a fan of Kate. Has he ever been? I'm guessing no!

There were parts I agreed with and others that seemed a tad harsh. I did find it interesting that he thinks that Kate is going to bring down the Zondervan brand because of this. There doesn't appear to be a ghost writer, at least it's not on the cover. I really wonder how this book will do. I'm sure there are still fans of Kate out there...:rolleyes1 Somewhere, maybe? Just kidding! Anyhow, I might check this book out at the library or perhaps peruse it at the Family Christian bookstore in our mall! I'm curious, particulary about the letters to her kids. And I wonder too if she'll do the whole book tour thing again.:confused3

Was Zondervan the same publisher of her other books?

Well I have to say in regards to thrift shopping is that we LOVE to thrift shop..if you go looking for the most trendy and if it looks new you save period!! I will say that one time when my dd was school and you know how girls can be she got a very good complement for her clothes..you just have to know what you are looking for...my kids would rather do the thrift store over the mall so they can get more clothes...as a matter of fact dd and I are going tomorrow to find a prom dress and every store we will go to will be a thrift store and we are hoping to find one for less than $50...so just b/c a family chooses to thrift shop doesn't mean that the kids don;t like it!!! Heck they could be thrilled to get what they got you don;t know!!!

Maybe TLC is just doing a lot of taping (they would have to , to get all that kissing in LOL), and there isn't really much kissing, but they happen to show it every time there is. I thought they had a lot of say in what gets shown (maybe they don't), and since they are usually so careful with what they show, I would have thought they would have not wanted PDA's shown so much. I know most of the young marrieds in our church, keep the PDA's to a minimum in public.

I don't have anything against thrift shopping. I've done some myself. But I find it hard to believe that with these kids working (they are on the show) that some stuff couldn't be bought new. At least their shoes. I hope their underwear. Maybe they do, and they chose to not show it on the show. But even with that said, I'm thinking most if not all that they have is thrift clothes. If the kids are just fine with that, then so be it.

Wow..he really doesn't like Kate, does he? I found the responses interesting (both the good and the bad. I sort of feel sorry for some of them..the hate in their thoughts is unbelieveable for someone they don't even know in real life). It's obvious some wonder why he is giving so much airtime to her.

I may be first in line to condemn the book, but first I have to read it. I think he should have too. How can you say how bad something is, if you don't even know what it is?

That's what I was thinking too. Based on the description of this book, it *appears* that it may be personal about the kids. But, I could be totally wrong and perhaps it is a book where Kate is talking more about herself and her struggles. Like I said, I'm curious to see what it's actually about. I just hope it's not more info. about her little ones, goodness knows we all know too much about them already.:sad2:

I don't watch TLC, but I have read that the little girls are wearing this season's gymboree line. Their clothing choices have changed drastically this year, thanks to product placement.

The cover of Kate's new book says it is letters to her children. Why can't she do anything to earn money that doesn't involve selling something belonging to her kids? (their actual selves, their pictures or stories involving them, letters to them...)

Ah..because no one would buy it?
I'll have to see first if they are 'what I'm dreaming for you' type of letters. What she is hoping for them. Of it it's personal stuff about them, before I condemn her for the book.

Well, Kate has been in this mindset for what, over 4 years now? I'm thinking that in her mind this is yet another way to make $ for them. A way for her to provide. Which is all going to be moot point anyway since Jon has given TLC permission to film again. Kate+8 will up and running in no time.

I still can't believe this all ended the way it did!...i was watching re runs of the early shows last week and they seemed so happy...(i thought)...I wonder now.if they were ever happy...was there always trouble behind the scenes?

Its soo sad..they nearly had it all...:sad2:

I would love to know when it really started to disintigrate??....On prep for hawaii kate tells the kidsher and jon will be together forever no matter what?!?:confused3...Yet months later ..all over.

i wonder if Jon regrets leaving..or if Kate regrets??...too much has happened for them to EVER go back...so sad.:sad2:

They do get new things on occasion. It's just not their entire everything as there is no need to do that.

While we thrift shop and do hand me downs, we buy new every once and a while.

I just believe it a stretch to put it down b/c the kids don't like it or something when there are many kids who are indeed fine with it.

I have a friend who completely disagrees with the Duggars--but she thrift shops, clothing swaps and freecycles her way to do things for her kids.

The whole book idea nauseates me--but then again, it is nothing against Kate. Why would I spend money to read about someone else's children? I get enough of my own for free thank you very much.:rotfl:

As I said, I don't have anything against thrift shopping, but kids do like new items as well. The Duggar kids are working kids, and I assume earing their own money. I just hope the thrift shopping is their idea, and if they want something new, they are allowed to buy it.

Ok can't believe I'm the first person to post this!

TLC and Jon settled???

Since ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8′ fell apart earlier this year, Jon Gosselin, TLC relations have gone from bad to worse. Both sides have been locked in litigation battles, suing one another for anything from breach of contract to abuse of child labor laws. Now, it seems that the feud may finally be coming to an end as both parties’ lawyers have indicated an imminent settlement. Read more about this breaking news story and check out the video and pictures below!

Jon & Kate have been steeped in drama ever since the show began, but that drama climaxed in the last few months as he allegedly breached his contract with his host network leading both sides to launch lawsuits against one another. And now what?

Initially, the Jon Gosselin, TLC litigation battle began with the network suing him for breach of contract and misinterpretation of facts, as he accepted paid interviews with Entertainment Tonight and the like. Without hesitation, the reality TV patriarch countered with a $5 million lawsuit accusing the station of withholding rightful payment for the series, breaching child labor laws, and coercing him into signing a “One sided contract.”

The battle was set to go to court in April if no settlement was reached. Now though, both sides seem to realize the mutual benefit of making amends.

“Jon has expressed his desire to close the litigation chapter of Jon & Kate Plus 8…He’s hoping that TLC will move forward with the best interest of the Gosselin family”

Said Mark Heller, the reality star’s lawyer.

“Sometimes litigants kiss and make-up, finding their relationship is much better the second time around. As Jon’s attorney, I truly hope that this new adventure for TLC and the Gosselins is a much more joyful journey.”

The Learning Channel validated the private settlement also, and made sure to confirm that “the whole Gosselin family remain under contract.” Whether or not that means Jon & Kate will be coming back to TV is another matter.

I checked Radar but didn't see anything yet - they usually seem to have the dirt....I think Jon's attorney's comment is kind of weird about hoping they can all have a better relationship the second time around....does Jon really think TLC will let him back on the air?? TLC does say, according to this, that they're all still under contract so I'm thinking the "Kate Plus 8" will show up as a series or as some specials.

19 college tuitions too? Oh wait...they aren't planning on paying for their kids to go to college. All those girls are just expected to get their MRS.

Not everyone does go to college---so I guess that's fine. However, I do hear Kate talk about the fact that she plans for her children to attend college. IMO, I think this is something that parents should plan for if they are able.

I can't even imagine their food bill, even if they were to grow their own food. And yes, I'm sure the parents are thrilled that their kids wear a bunch of hand me downs and second hand clothing/shoes. I wonder how thrilled the kids actually are. Of course if that is all they have ever gotten, and they don't attend school, I guess it's something you get used to. Having 19 kids means 19 showers, which uses a lot of hot water, Lots more laundry for that hot water expense too. Even if they have insurance, that's a lot of co-pays to the doc and dentist. There is so much more to expenses than a mortgage (I assume that huge house has huge utililty bills). I think that what they get from TLC has to be a large part of their support...can you imagine if they had to pay for all the seats on a plane when they go on one of their trips? I just hope the kids get some of it, and it's not all for mom and dad's future.

I agree with your sentiment--but there are many parents in this world who do not even within their own families regardless of socioeconomic status or family size.

Some parents believe their kids should WORK for their own education so that they'll appreciate it more. Via earning scholarships or just getting a job.

I personally did not appreciate my college education anymore through lack of contribution.

But there are those who have that philosophy.

I think Kate plans for it--b/c it placates a higher level need to be well off on her part. Not sure if I am saying that right. But I don't beleive she is doing it so that they will have a better life than she. After all, she did get a college education to be a nurse.

The Duggars will send their children to college as they desire and *as God desires*...unfortunately the selections are very limited to particular bible colleges and what not. Nothing wrong with that as I know many whose kids go to such colleges. But my understanding is that the list would not include accredited institutions.

We are planning for our kids to go to college.

But as Dave Ramsey says--it ain't child abuse if you can't do it or chose not to.

I agree with that some families don't help kids in their college years..I for one can't afford it and my kids know that so they are trying for every scholarship they can find..however I will give money here and there when I can....in regards to the Duggers I am not going to judge them on what college they chose to send their kids too...no one says they ahve to send them to one school over another...

but on a different note someone please tell my dh's ex wife that not paying for college is not child abuse..she tried VERY hard to put it in the papers that he HAD to pay...:sad2:
