What makes syrup organic? That they don't spray the huge trees it comes from? Is there even such a thing as organic syrup..and if so, why would there be? I can see organic veggies, wheat and flour products..but syrup? I can't wrap my brain around it to figure out how that would be organic (I don't eat organic, except for the curly leaf lettuce because I can only find that in the organic area) too expensive.
Is Kate 100% organic on all the food they eat? Or does she try to be organic? I never thought they bamboozled us. I just assumed they tried to buy organic so their kids could eat healthy. I imagine it's not so easy when you go out to eat. I'm trying to eat healthy but when I go out, it's hard, because everything has sauces, is loaded with butter, the items are made from enriched flour instead of whole wheat, etc. and I have no idea where they get their food. So when I go out, I know I'm not eating as well as I should.
My post was a joke btw.

(re: the bamboozled! Bulk organic and bulk natural foods are a tough commodity to find here and when I can find what I usually get in a larger size, it most often will save money. Their syrup is twice the size of the jug that I can get at my grocery store and I was like---let me know what brand it is...)
I was enamored with the large bottle of syprup and presumed it was at least maple syrup and thought it was funny that it was hungry jack.
I prefer Maple Grove Farms--but I don't think my syrup is USDA Organic.
Likely b/c they must use pesticides or something in their trees as needed.
FYI--there are people who raise their "stuff" organically, but cannot be classified as organic. Can't recall why. I think it has to be so many years that the area has been cultivated organically.
We had a local farm that did this. They were fairly new, but since the land was not historically organic it would take them a few year before they can call themselves organic.
As for Kate, I never believed they have been 100% organic. It is down near difficult to do of course.
I think their interviews have been so sliced and diced--that the general public feels that they claim 100% but they aren't. They have a lot of natural food selections that are not organic, but might have a chemical/additive free distinction. Most of our organic choices are to avoid certain ingredients that unfortunately for many years would only happen if you bought organic.
But now traditional conventional brands are modifying their recipes to offer those same choices. (I.e. we just bought the pillsbury refrigerated cookie dough that has only basic ingredients and nothing like HFCS.) They were quite delicious.
I STRONGLY suspect that is what Kate is avoiding--dyes, HFCS, preservatives and that kind of stuff.
I don't have proof though. Just what I suspect. For the longest time though--to accomplish that required more organic purchases.
Sorry if this is all jumbled, hubby is hurrying me a long and the dis will be shutting down soon. Hope it makes sense.
But to sum it up--I wasn't chastizing Kate. Just making a joke on my quest for bulk 100% maple syrup.
I was just posting to be funny actually.
