Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread--Part 7

Doesn't the person you quoted say she signed the picture where you quoted her? Uh..wouldn't that be a signed autograph?

she said Kate handed her a promo picture out of her purse. that picture appears to be the same promo/pre-printed item she's seen handing out in other pictures. There have been a couple of times where people have approached Kate with paper & pen and she hands them what she has, instead.

Now that's something I've never read, reports that the parents aren't very involved when the camera's are off. I've certainly seen enough rag mags of Kate and Jon both in the driveway with the kids when not taping, as well as Kate about town with the kids, (with the kids drinking Starbucks drinks). We don't see them when they aren't taping, (except for the driveway shots) and I would think they have enough traveling with the kids when taping, so they spend more time at home, in the pool, inside with their parents. They don't seem to have a lot of friends in and out, and the crew isn't there when they aren't taping, so who would be telling us they are uninvolved..Stephanie maybe LOL?

I don't have the patience to Google this morning, but I've read about when they film at home, Jon and/or Kate are in the house, on their phones etc, not involved with the children until they're filming. Tabloids (so take it for what it's worth, LOL) report sources saying neither parent is involved right now --that the nannies are doing most of the work (one has Kate crying all the time, too...) I also read that when they did the Globetrotters appearance, handlers were with the children until it was time to do the appearance, then Jon & Kate showed up. Nearly all of these accounts have been in the last 6-8 months, when the marital issues came to the forefront. I have seen no indication that it was like that before this year.

But the person you quoted said she signed it. She didn't say it was presigned. :confused3

Am I reading this wrong?
She was pretty nice and was laughing and joking around. When we asked if we could take her picture she pulled out pictures from her purse that she signed and gave to us. The pictures included the whold family and Jon.

I guess I was thinking what they are like when they aren't about to be filmed, but are home one on one with the kids. I never thought the kids looked shocked when Mom or dad were about to play with them which I think someone posted. I wondered how people knew that. I guess they didn't. I'll assume the best, that they both spend time with their children when they have them in private, rather than believe people that aren't there. Handlers..oh, I don't like that word at all.

no. I am. I completely misread that sentence. yikes.

I have seen evidence (video) where people have asked for an autograph from Kate, and she pulled out that pre-done picture and didn't sign it. Just handed them the card and got into the car.

http://www.infdaily.com/ it's halfway down the page.

I guess I was thinking what they are like when they aren't about to be filmed, but are home one on one with the kids.

that's what these "sources" are talking about. It's been one or more of the tabloids that Kate isn't around much, she's in the bedroom crying ... Jon is doing whatever it is that Jon does... and that they're both on the phone a lot. Who the sources are, I have no idea. The person has no problem throwing both Jon and Kate under the bus, though. It's equal opportunity bashing, LOL

I can't understand that part, either. The children always look happy to see both parents to me.

I don't either, but that's those people are... aren't they? I mean, they're the publicist or spokespeople? I guess it could be said that the nannies were with the children. Nannies, Globetrotter event staff, and TLC people for this event, specifically.

I've seen that too, but I did think in this case she had signed it. I actually think people are rude to ask celebrities for sigs, when they see them out and about and at diner, trying to get in their car, etc. Go to the book signing, or where they are in public for that purpose, if you want one. My brother was able to get some nice sigs of Jack Nicholson when he was in our area for a movie, but they used a building my brother owned for the filming, and an introduction with him was part of the deal. It was reported at the time he was here that the poor man couldn't even go out to eat and finish his dinner while it was hot..they were lined up outside of everywhere he went for autographs (not that I'm comparing Kate to him LOL), and always pushing pens and paper in his face.

Yes, for a production shoot (film, tv, print)--the "person(s)" who handle the kids--are called handlers.

Their job typically is to keep the children rounded up and entertained while they patiently await when they have to film or shoot.

I can't say it is a bad thing that they have this for the Gosselin children. We don't know what J&K are doing off set, they could be doing a run down with a producer for all we know.

For every Gymboree or Gap ad featuring children, anything in which young children are present--they will ALWAYS have handlers. Don't know why they don't have a better name. But that is what it is.

(not getting into the working vs. not working argument--let that horse die--yes the children are working.)

I've seen that too, but I did think in this case she had signed it.

I do, too. For my part, I just misread what had been typed. coupled with that video (I had just seen it very recently) and I came to the wrong conclusion.

when Rosemary Clooney died, the family gathered in town a day or two before the funeral. it was July 4 weekend, so there were already more people in town than would have been otherwise. The family went to their favorite restaurant for dinner and before long, a crowd had formed ... it got so intrusive, they had to close the restaurant and clear the parking lot. Someone in the restaurant had the nerve to ask George for an autograph, and he told them no, that wasn't what he was in town for.

last year, he premiered Leatherheads at the local theater ... he was all over the place signing autographs then, LOL!

When I saw Paula Deen at WDW, we just said hello and kept going without asking for a pic or autograph. they were there to eat lunch, too. no need to bother them.

Yes, they'll be in court on Monday:
http://www.accesshollywood.com/news/roll-call-rep-no-survivor-or-amazing-race-for-jon-gosselin_article_24592

I don't know why Mark Momjian thought he could cancel it if Jon paid the money back, but at least now we know why: Kate is expected at another women's conference on Monday.

That is the one with Maria Shriver. Interesting, I wonder if she can make it there if they go to court? And I wonder why she didn't try to work something out sooner?

I hope she comes up with her accounting for Monday.

and who hasn't felt a little parenting superiority when at grocery store or Target? :rolleyes1[/QUOTE]

I certainly have felt parenting superiority at stores, etc. (I'm positive I've also made others feel superior.) I rarely watch Supernanny, but when I do I generally feel superior. I have yet to feel superior when watching Jim Bob and Michelle. I've only seen that Table for 12 family once or twice but I was in awe of their patience and happy-go-lucky attitude. Especially with the older sets of twins! I used to love watching Kate deal with all the kids and seeing the mountains of laundry and just being shocked by how she could manage that household and survive. I didn't care if she had help with everything! She needed it.

We all watched Kate transform from sweats to fashionable clothes and from flabby to toned. I was really happy for her! But- It seemed like that was about the time she went from being on a reality tv show to thinking she was super celebrity of the universe. Suddenly they go from being a "normal" family struggling to make it to a superstar family entitled to a mansion and free furniture and appliances and vacations. None of which are good enough for Kate and her big, giant head. She doesn't even pretend to be grateful for her newfound wealth and celebrity. She deserves it and much, much more.

So... When Kate and Jon are so convinced of their superstardom and that the gravy train will never end that they pull all of the stunts of the past several months... I can't help but feel superior. They are intentionally making public all of their craziness regardless of how it hurts the kids. They are potentially throwing away their major souce of income. They are making public idiots of themselves and hurting their children with accusations and affairs and pretty much everything that comes out of their mouths. Yeah, I feel superior.

I hate that either of them talk to the rag mags. I agree that that doesn't help the situation. I have no idea if Kate thinks she is entitled to all the trips and freebees. I've only read that by other's. I've never her her say she was entitled. I have heard her say she is grateful for the oportunities. I have heard her say she loved her kitchen, even though she may not have shown it well when being filmed (and lets face it, her and Jon were splitting up as that happened..maybe that was TLC's idea and she just didn't get into it..either of them).

Ok..past that. And I'm serious here. She has tried to get a new career going for herself, which I don't happen to think of as a stunt, and I'm actually hoping it works, and can replace the show she is doing with the kids Being on the shows, are those what you would consider stunts? I'd like her and her lawyer to not give interviews, but I don't think of that as a stunt. I'm serious. I'm wondering what you consider is a stunt Kate has done. A stunt would be something to draw attention. So, talking about the fact (it's a fact, since Jon had to pay it back) that Jon took money when he wasn't supposed to. Is that what you would call a stunt? I guess that would be. I do wish she had kept it quiet, but I wish everything was kept quiet. Is that what you mean? Because if so, and these are Kate's stunts..what word would we show for Jon's actions :rotfl:?
I do have to say I have never felt superior to them. I have felt sorry that this is how it's turning out, but I never thought of it as, hey I would have done a better job with my kids. Because without being in their shoes, I just don't know what I would have done.

I know you were addressing the PP .. but here's my thought on that question. :upsidedow

I consider the playing in the yard (in plain sight of the paparazzi) day after day a stunt ... a stunt used by both Jon and Kate. And I know we've been all over it before. It's their yard, they should be able to use it as they please, etc. And I agree that is a valid argument. But at the same time, Kate has complained so much about her disdain of the paparazzi, that perhaps sending the children to play in a more secluded area of the property would be something to consider for a few weeks. Then there's Jon's love of greeting the masses at the fence ... in addition to letting the paps on the other side of the fence.

I also think Kate & the daily bikini was a stunt.

Jon has done plenty of stunts of his own. I think we're all pretty familiar with them. LOL

When we begin to feel superior over other people, someone will soon knock us off of our pedestals.

Unrelated but sort of related--I watch a lot of Dave Ramsey. He's the no-debt financial counselor with allt he books and talk shows.

One episode of his tv show--he starts off talking about the sports figures. You know--they sign those million dollar contracts--live like they'll have money forever, then end up declaring bankrutpcy b/c they didn't plan wisely for their future except to count on the money train to continue without consideration for life.

I began to feel superior. I admit it. I said--oh if I was in that position, I would NEVER do something so stupid.

And at that very moment, Dave Ramsey said--I wish I can remember exactly, b/c I will tell you I felt very knocked off that pedestal I put myself on--but something to the effect that we all are guilty of such things to one degree or another. (Then he went into how those of us on smaller incomes are doing exactly the same things and that is where this becomes unrelated.)

The point is--we've all done stupid things in life. When we begin feeling superior to other people b/c of their mistakes--well, we've gotten too cocky for our own good. And we become just like Jon and Kate. We become as cocky and conceited as them.
I won't say that I've never felt superior--in fact I just admitted a moment where I had based on something I have heard about someone else on the Dave Ramsey Show.

But we shouldn't relish in feeling superior--b/c often, it comes back to bite us in the butt and we get knocked down and shown how we really aren't superior to anyone after all.

It really isn't something to be proud of.

very well put.

and I think it's perfectly normal to have a sense of "I'd never _____" from time to time, it's the attitude that goes along with the sentiment that makes the difference.

an example -- we were walking over the bridge from Liberty Square to Adventureland. It was dark and close to park close. The area was crowded. I stopped for just a minute to make sure DH & DS had caught up with DD & me... and at the same time there was a woman a few feet away screaming at a child (probably 6 or 7, older than a preschooler), then grabbed her by the upper arm and smacked her on the lower back/upper behind. The child was terrified. I felt absolutely awful... and sad. I would never treat a child like that at the Magic Kingdom, but I never for one minute felt any sort of smug superiority over being a better parent. Not exactly the best example, but something that came to mind.

We'll have to disagree over what we consider a stunt. As has been said before..the house is a long distance from the road. If they didn't 'allow' those pictures and went in the back, I have no doubt they would crawl through the woods and we'd see pics at the pool. The drive is paved, perfect for bikes, the house provides some shade, and you are right..I don't feel they have to be chased out of their own driveway. I think there should be laws that paps have to be 1000 feet away from the front of someone's house. Now, that would be a great law.

As for the bikini..I just assumed that is what she wears to swim, because she can (I can't LOL). She wore it at home, when the paps got her talking to the person in a car, so I doubt that she was trying to get the paps to take her picture then. I think I've seen most stars in a bikini..again, because they can wear them.

So for a change, we won't agree.

Yes, I have no problem coming up with Jon's stunts LOL. But even some of those, I wouldn't call stunts, because I didn't think he was doing it as much for attention, but that he got caught.

your post just made me think of something I'm not sure has been addressed by either Kate or Jon. And if it hasn't, they didn't make such a point of it that it stuck me with (like so many other things Kate or Jon have proclaimed about their lives, LOL)

Have Jon or Kate every pleaded for the children's privacy? In all the interviews done by them or their "sources", I can't remember an instance where they've asked to leave the children out of this? They've said the children can signal if they don't want to be filmed and made comments about paparazzi being a word Kate wishes her kids didn't know ... but I don't think I've ever heard them say anything to the effect of "focus on us, leave the kids out of it" kind of thing. And if they have, I've definitely missed it.

Just got me to thinking, that's all.

And after all that thinking, I might back off my thoughts of the yard being used as a stunt... because they obviously don't care that the pics are being taken, since they continue to go out there. I don't know. I just see it as the children being paraded out for the daily view.

As for the bikini..I just assumed that is what she wears to swim, because she can (I can't LOL). She wore it at home, when the paps got her talking to the person in a car, so I doubt that she was trying to get the paps to take her picture then. I forgot about the bikini in the yard. I'll agree that one wasn't a stunt.

but the beach? it was Kate's coming out party. See how great she looks as a single mom? Definitely a stunt to me. LOL.

Yes, I have no problem coming up with Jon's stunts LOL. But even some of those, I wouldn't call stunts, because I didn't think he was doing it as much for attention, but that he got caught.

very true. I also think Jon's a gullible doofus who's gotten some bad advice along the way.

It sure feels like the dogs were a stunt...

so sad (they gave the dogs back to the breeder - some of the magazine shows do show clips with the dogs - but thats old clips)

People: Kate Gosselin is still waiting for Jon Gosselin to return the money he took from the couple's joint account, but Kate herself has obeyed with a court order to itemize what she spent from the account, says her divorce attorney Mark Momjian.

"Kate has complied with the court order in advance of the date," he says, noting the reality mom was not ordered to return any money.

Earlier Friday, Jon's New York attorney Mark Heller, told PEOPLE that Jon was in "complete compliance" with a court order telling him to return $180,000 he took from the couple's joint account.

So far only $28,500 has been returned, says Kate's lawyer, but at 1:23 p.m. he received an email from Jon's Pennsylvania attorney saying he had the remaining $152,000 he owes.

"We still haven't had that money wired to us," he told PEOPLE. "I have no doubt Jon's lawyer is making an accurate representation but I'm just waiting."

A hearing is scheduled for Monday in a Norristown, Pa. courtroom if the money issue is not resolved. Momjian said he is not sure yet if that hearing will happen.

They haven't, but the pap has mostly been focusing on the parents. The kids happen to be in some of the pics, but it's not like they have stuck a mic in their faces asking what they think of their parents getting a divorce, or what did they think of the one tup being spanked. IMO, I think the children are pretty much left alone, other than just pictures of them. Like with other celebrity families. I do have to give the paps that..they tend to not try to get the kids to respond to them. They may say..hey Jon, show me what your shirt says, but they don't ask the kids, for instance to show what's on the front of their lunchboxes (bad example LOL).
