Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread--Part 7

She said at some appearance the week she did The View (somebody will have to remind me where it was) that the cookbook was ready to publish and she expected it to come out next year. But...she's writing a new book as a sequel to Multiple Blessings that will chronicle this part of their lives. :rolleyes1

Hmmm.. Guess I'll email the publishing house again and see if her story jives with theirs..:rolleyes1

She's going to put the divorce and such in a new book? Hasn't it been publicized enough? Of course I'm sure she could put her own "spin" on it, but still.. Is this "for the kids" too?

Bingo. Lets see what happens when Jon runs out of money. Didn't TLC exclude him from the show and that was when he withdrew permission?

Did TLC say they were OK with the contract not being followed?

I'm with you on TLC..I'm pretty tired of all their shows. I'm not sure what type of learning any of them are. I loved J & K plus 8, but like all divorces, this is hard on the kids, and being so public has got to be even worse. It's time to cut them loose.

I was very disturbed by the Roloff's this week. I just have this ingling we are being rolled down the same path and a divorce is in the making. Amy has made it clear she is not happy with her husband or his dreams. She made it sound like money is a problem this week.

from RadarOnline:

Jon Gosselin has told the network they no longer have his permission to film the children and TLC will not challenge that. If Jon changes, his mind, they will go into production on the new show, Kate Plus 8.

I don't doubt that she'll say that. She said that it would be a book that they could read, and I took that to mean that some of the gruesome details would be left out.

Found the link to the video that talks about the books:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmQOiKK8sY8

She talks about them right after the section on the dogs and before the one on the nannies. She says the sequel book has pre-empted the cookbook ie. the publisher wants it out first (because people want to hear the scandalous details, I guess) She doesn't say it's about the divorce here though.

There's an update to the Z on TV article published earlier today:

UPDATE/4:35 p.m. WEDNESDAY: Mark Momjian, Kate Gosselin’s attorney, said today in a telephone interview that this was the money that Kate was talking about on TV. But while his client did take $55,000 out of the account, that does not mean Jon Gosselin only took the $180,000 that the judge told him to return in the Tuesday ruling. Momjian says there was as much as $290,000 in the account, and that Jon Gosselin did take as much as $230,000 as Kate Gosselin alleged on national TV. He did not, however, explain why the judge only ordered $180,000 returned. Furthermore, Momjian declined to discuss whether Kate had only $1,000 in funds as she said on TV — or whether there were other accounts with money in them that she had access to. “I am not getting into that,” he said. In fairness, declining to discuss the possibility of other accounts does not necessarily imply they exist. Momjian says Kate Gosselin will prove the $55,000 she took was all spent on “household expenses and the children.”

The other version of the story is that Jon had told them he wanted off the show and was banning filming from the house, which he contended was his legal right to do. On LKL, Jon also stated that there was a letter from TLC stating that if either Jon or Kate thought that filming at this time was detrimental to the kids they would stop immediately. However, TLC had refused to acknowledge this when he brought this to their attention. (Apparently, Jon has a letter from TLC about these negotiations which predates them cutting him from the show -- he had it at LKL, but it was never shown) Then TLC announced that they were excluding him from the show. Within a couple of hours, Jon's statement about stopping filming at the house was released, as well as the promo for his interview on LKL. At the time of the interview, TLC said he was in breach of contract just for doing the interview with Larry King but made little comment about the validity of his claims. TLC said they were stopping filming temporarily that same day.

Fast forward to today -- Jon is now saying they can't film the kids at all (not at the house, not anywhere) and TLC is going along with his request. So this is a big change from where they were 2 weeks ago, regardless of which version you believe.

IMO, Jon was not going to get much pay from TLC since the new show is Kate + 8, and he would have only a limited role (likely he would be allowed to attend birthday parties, etc. that they film).

Doesn't really matter why he's doing it - let's just hope it sticks! If those kids are never filmed again, it won't be the end of the world - no one will starve to death - not even close..

Actually, Kate did hand out copies of her book Multiple Blessings, a lullaby CD and DVD's of J&K+8 to the sick kids. Small kids. That's ridiculous, those little kids don't give a hoot about Kate's book or CD. Many probably haven't even seen J&K+8. I think it does matter who paid for the toys, how are J&K 'giving back' if K-Mart or TLC is paying for it? If TLC is paying them to do that show, to fly to Memphis?

I disagree that it matters who paid for the gifts. Jon, Kate, and the kids spent time picking and wrapping the gifts. Jon and Kate also spent time visiting and handing out the gifts. IMO, that was a way of giving back. The biggest way they gave back however was doing a episode about St. Jude's. Before this episode, I heard of them but didn't really know much about them. After learning more, I wanted to donate.

Huh...the wording is very interesting -- I had to re-read it a couple of times. But I think I'll wait for the judge to speak on the 26th. Nothing against Kate, but I don't like her lawyer -- he comes across as very arrogant and mean-spirited. Interesting that he started representing her shortly before this whole money thing was made public (guess he doesn't care what the kids hear about their parents when they learn how to use google)

ITA.:thumbsup2

It's funny how the today's reports about yesterday's events are so different from yesterday's. Of course, all we had to go on yesterday was the interview/statement from Kate's lawyer and her.

So, what I'm gathering is this: the lawyers met with the judge in his chambers for about an hour while Jon and Kate waited in the courtroom. Then the judge came into the courtroom and made the (public) statement that they had to put any monies back, keep it private, etc. etc.

Immediately after that, the lawyers and Jon and Kate met with the arbitrator privately -- all of this ended by 2:30, which is when Kate's lawyer went to the press. So they may have been meeting with the arbitrator for 4 hours or more.

I'm also seeing that the $180,000 that Momjian says the judge ordered Jon to return to the account was just possibly the amount that Jon and Kate settled on with the arbitrator (maybe the amount he can afford, maybe the difference between what they've both withdrawn -- we don't know), and Jon is giving Kate until Oct. 26th to show how she spent the $55,000 as well as the other accounting details ie. not requiring her to return any money to the account until after she has done that.

Just FYI, I did not post what you quoted me as posting.

ITA.

Just watched Jon on ET -- he says he's going to put the money back (I guess these interviews pay well). They did ask him about what he would do for work, and he said he would stay in television and if that didn't work out, he'd go back to IT. He said he's not afraid to work. BTW, the only points he made about the court were already in the preview. ET added a footnote to the interview, stating that Kate's lawyer had stated that he has to repay $180,000. The only thing to add there is that when they went for arbitration they were in separate rooms with their own lawyers.

When asked about how the kids are handling the divorce, he said he's still seeing a therapist, that he tells the kids he will see them every week, that daddy will always be their daddy, that mommy will always be their mommy (can't help comparing him to Kate here -- that is soooo not what she said she told them when she was on The View).

My overall impression was that he was very subdued, close to tears most of the time. I think he still loves Kate :confused3 He could remember what she was wearing in court right down to the shoes.

Was this a new interview? After yesterday when the court asked them to keep quiet?

You really think Jon still loves Kate? After he has said over and over that he does not?

ETA: after reading more, I see this was an interview from yesterday.

I agree it was a good show..I just don't agree that because they went, and J & K and their kids didn't, that it shows the difference in the two shows.

No, I wasn't saying that. I was just responding because some posters seemed to think the trip was their first. They obviously cared enough to spend their own money to do missions previously as well.

I actually have enjoyed JK8 and I think Jon is making a big ruckus to have it ended because he got dissed, as the kids would say.:rotfl:
If he wanted his kids out of the spotlight, he wouldn't have invited photographers in to photograph the kids for another tv show.:confused3

Can't Kate get a legal document saying that this show is not allowed on her property? She hasn't given permission for that I am assuming.:confused3

I agree! This show should of ended long ago. Nobody puts their life out there, exploiting their kids, unless they were living off their kids. Hopefully they can salvage what family life they have left.

Doesn't matter who took what money, when, it will all come out in the divorce proceedings.

Glad that one of them (Jon) came to his senses and stopped the kids being filmed for tv. I give him credit even if this was done to shut Kate down too!

I'm not sure which new show you're talking about but...

If Jon was correct when he said that TLC couldn't film on his property without his permission, then Kate would would have the same right to keep them from filming her kids there.

Yup -- I do think he still loves her. I also believe him when he says that Kate was the one who ended the marriage a year ago.

And I'm seriously ticked that neither of them has kept this private like the judge told them to. Would it have been so hard for them to just say "I'm sorry but I can't answer questions about that at this time."

No More Jon & Kate After November

The Gosselin family

Our long national nightmare is finally over.

Jon & Kate Plus 8, which in recent months had become just about as fun as reliving your parents' divorce, will stop filming new episodes next month, according to the New York Post.

After Jon Gosselin, 32, forbade TLC from filming his and 34-year-old estranged wife Kate's eight children for their show, the network will try to squeeze out a couple remaining episodes from existing footage before putting the show to rest, according to sources.

Kate, who's previously said she relies on the show for her income, and who says the kids have been crying since the film crews left, hasn't commented. Neither has Jon, who said he put the kibosh on the show because had an epiphany about the harm the show was causing the family – and not because he'd been axed from a future version of the show to be called Kate Plus 8.

It's not clear whether TLC would restart the show should Jon change his mind about filming the kids.

ITA!!! The kids are too young for a mission trip, but don't you think Kate's experience with being a nurse would make her a great candidate for a medical mission trip. Oh, but she would rather go to the SPA with Mikey from Orange Cty Choppers. Jon did a great job clearing the land for the "crooked houses" and seemed to enjoy using his tractor--he would be great to have along on a mission trip to help clear land, etc...oh, but he would rather go host a pool party in Las Vegas.

I agree that TLC brought out the greed in in the Gosselins. Just like the Harlem Globetrotter episode where Cara was called out on the court and ended up with a basketball. It wasn't 5 min. later Kate was repeating over and over, what you do for one you do for all--in otherwards, give everyone of my kids a basketball. The meet and greet wasn't enough for Kate, she wanted more. This is what makes this family come across so ungrateful!

I know, wouldn't that have been a great opportunity to say "great Cara, you can share your brothers and sisters!" or even, "Hey guys, wasn't Cara lucky? aren't you happy for her?" My kids are so used to sharing things that if one is invited to a birthday party, and they get a party bag with candy and trinkets, they come home and dump it on the floor and divy it up equally. I have never told them they need to do this, they have just always done it. If everything has to be done for all the kids all the time, I have a feeling they won't be getting many party invites through school. Who is going to want to have all 5 tups for a party when just one kids is friends with yours?

oh, gee, what's that book gonna be called? Double Dimwits?

I really hope that isn't the case. Those kids are individuals and need to be invited seperately to do things with their friends. That is good for them. Takes away some of the dependence they have with each other.

As for the show ending....it's about time. I dont care how/what happened in order to make it happen. I'm just glad it's done.

Now which family is TLC willing to ruin now. Any bets? :rolleyes1

They are going to try to take down the Roloffs. They have been very much exploiting the little tiffs there.
