My guess is they both have taken money they weren't supposed to. I tend to think Kate is squirreling what she took away though and Jon has been spending it. The quicker they get divorced the quicker they each get their own money.

The thing I don't understand is, when Jon moved out, was there any determination of how he was supposed to pay his living expenses by the arbitrator? I mean if the arbitrator said he couldn't take any money out of the accounts, you would think he would have given Jon an allowance or something? Or were Jon's bills just going to Kate and she was paying them? I find it hard to believe TLC was paying the full rent on Jon's NYC pad, but if they were, who is paying that now? It's 2 bedrooms/2 baths, the rent must be a fortune.

I thought they both live at the house in PA they have 50/50 custody at this point. Jon just rented a place in NYC for Kates days. Kate has to leave too we just do not know where she goes. Kate must have bill too that need to be paid.

Kate got caught twice doing it already (once around the time she filed for divorce, and once after their first meeting with the arbitrator), but Jon never brought that to the media. It could be just that Jon took $180,000 more than she did since the divorce, or that she has been taking out and putting it back (even covering it from other accounts, since she is the only one with access to those).

I understood Jon to say that all of the money from TLC went into this account, so he should have been able to take some out. However, they were both allowed to make withdrawals but only with authorization from the other -- there must have been a better way to deal with this. I'm assuming that since Kate had access to all of the accounts, she had no worries about covering her own living expenses. And Jon has yet to see any money from the first book -- which is why he claims that she has $1 million.

BTW, the rent on Jon's apartment is $5000.00 per month.

Um, I just watched ET tonight and they were advertising an 'exclusive' interview with Jon in which they discuss today's court visit so he IS going to talk about it at least with ET.

I thought I saw both lawyers talking to the press. Did the judge actually say they were not to talk about today's case to the media, as in a gag order placed on them? I have to admit, I'm too lazy to go back and look. I thought the Judge said private arbitration..isn't that usually when you figure out all the divorce stuff (who gets the kids when, who supports who, etc)? I didn't think that was the same as talking about how the case went in court.

The judge told them to settle the matter between them before the next hearing, and to keep everything private and amicable. Jon's lawyers haven't commented specifically on the case, but both Kate and her lawyer have. No, the judge didn't place any penalty on them for talking, but he specifically said to keep it private.

The next arbitration hearing will be public, so the judge has urged them to come to a settlement before that date. I thought the divorce hearing (for all of the other issues) was set for Oct. 22nd, but the Oct. 26th hearing will deal with just Kate's petition and Jon's response/counter-claim.

What do you mean Jon did not make it public about Kate taking money. He leaked that before Kate did.How did you find out about it months or weeks ago if it was not made public?

I still think this whole thing came about because Kate was ticked at Jon for halting the show. She all of sudden realized that Jon had taken $ without her approval?? I don't buy that, not even for a second. Kate is so controlling, remember how she berated Jon over a stupid coupon (she said she was going to kill him)? There's no way she didn't know about this. My guess is that she saw an opportunity to strike back and she took it. The way it came across (especially when she was on The View) is that Jon maliciously drained their joint account and now she can't pay the bills because he's left her and the kids nearly poor. Well, now it's coming out that she apparently took $55,000 as well (at least that's how I interpreted it) and has to account for that as well as other expenses. Like the $ from the book Multiple Blessings. Whether she likes it or not, Jon's name is on the book too so he is entitled to some of that $.

What I find also of interest is that during the whole emotional drama of their seperation announcement on the show, she claimed that this isn't something she wants, to divorce. Well, who filed on the day that aired? Who refused Jon's request to slow the divorce down so they can work things out? Kate.

Sure, Jon is an idiot but I think he's one of those guys where what you see is what you get. His interviews come across candid unlike Kate's carefully scripted ones. Who know, maybe they're both lying but there's just sooo many unknown facts. I'll be interested to see what comes of the Oct. 26th hearing. Oh crap! I'm going to be at Disney then. The deluxe resorts have high speed internet right?

Depending on how the contract was written and the divorce laws in PA, Jon may very well be entitled to some of that money. That may be why someone that claims that she won today didn't look very happy.

What does she really have to be happy about her life is in shambles. She has no income right now. Her husband is loosing his mind. To top it off her kids spent the day with Micheal Lohan the violent ex con. She is in hell right now.

At the time when she did that, I thought we hashed it over and assumed she did that so the money would be frozen and not drained by him (that was just a bunch of opinions, but it did make sense, since she said she did it to protect her children). I think the time has long changed since she said she didn't want to divorce..I think that was pre teeny bopper girlfriend.

Kate has income. She has done personal appearances recently and has more scheduled.

We don't know that Jon is losing his mind. He is behaving oddly and making poor choices .. but losing his mind? Really?

I remember her saying that Jon's actions left her no choice but to file for divorce. Who knows what that means though, we never did hear anything shocking in the news. I most definitely believe that she did it because of the $. I just found it interesting that on the big seperation announcement she said it wasn't something she wants yet she won't allow the divorce to be slowed down. So yes, it's all about the money.

Watching the episode right now with Josh and Anna and having baby Mackynzie....

I know she had a homebirth....

But the epi prior--she saw Dr. Sarver at 30 weeks and in the beginning of the episode where they show highlights of the episode--they show a blip where Josh says she woke up with contractions. He calls his dad who asks if she is at the hospital, yet. Josh says they are thinking of a homebirth.

Ummm--okay---that's a little LATE to decide a homebirth if they truly waited until the last minute.

Not sure about Arkansas--but here you have to find a midwife who does them. They aren't on call 24/7 for new patients who just get into labor.

And their are preps to a homebirth. Good gracious!

Not sure if that was for "suspense"--but it was very unrealistic. We'll have to see how it plays out.

Huh? I don't understand the question, I think, but I will say it was Kate who made it public that she had taken money from the account - IMO, she had no choice but to do so since Jon would have made that public immediately if she hadn't (and then she would look as if she had been covering it up)

ITA -- it may not be as much as she's used to, but IMO the show wasn't going to last forever no matter what happened. And I really can't feel sorry for her not being able to live off her kids anymore.

Yup, I completely agree with you. 100%. The show could not have lasted much longer anyway IMO. Doris, I remember you saying that the pre-drama ratings were already dropping off and it makes sense. I can't imagine that Kate hasn't been planning for this to some degree. It's time for her and Jon to break away from the dependance on their kids for income. Get a real job and work on your children's relationships.

I can't watch her anymore. I know now that she fudges facts and is downright misleading! What illegal wire tapping!? Again, Jon as a computer whiz is hysterical!

She is acting like Stephanie's allegations are true.

There is no focus on the kids, and what is best for them, and of course Kate is destitute.

I absolutely believe he has never had access to money and has no idea how much they actually have. Some of it does have to be his.

I think it's the same here about having someone who will attend. My friend is a midwife and she doesn't do home births. I don't think there are any in my town that do.
