Gosh you guys have been busy!!

Just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a Happy Halloween!!

I wonder if that is financially feasible for the Gosselins... to make a move to LA?

i would'nt think so-they would be trading a lower cost of living for a much higher one, a flat state income tax (is'nt penns around 3%?) for one where they'd easily pay the top rate of over 10%, higher housing costs, and probably most troubling for them-some of the most explicit and restrive child 'acting' laws in the nation-laws that paul peterson and his group are using the gosselin kids as poster children for to push forward legistation to restrict and highly govern kids on reality shows.

kate had the benefit of tlc helping with the last big move and paying many of their expenses, if that relationship ends (and ya notice tlc does'nt film any family reality shows in california-it's very expensive to film there) she'd be looking at major expenses to move, get housing, find schooling for the kids (if they are looking at private it's very costly as compared to what i imagine she pays in penn), extensive childcare (she would be competing against very seasoned professionals, imho-a very small fish in a very large pond so needs to be available 24/7)...they say their current expenses are $15,000 per month-unless they can sell the place they have now figure many more tens of thousands per month more just to get the kind of secure/private housing she seems to want the kids in.

Doesn't it seem strange that they are out in LA again.
I have a feeling Hailey did this when Jon did his taping with Mary Hart.
This is all just another set-up and I read a few days ago, that Jon wanted her to tell this, so things could turn around and people see Hailey in a better way, plus she is probably getting paid money for her interview.

I don't think ET taped Hailey at the same time as Jon's interview, because when Hailey was on The Insider Thursday and Friday (which also shoots in L.A.) they were talking about current things that just happened and ET said something about Hailey making news with her Insider interview, now it's their turn, so they had have had to go back out to LA for Hailey to do these new interviews.

Can't speak for Hailey specifically, but I know both the Insider and ET pay for interviews.

If they want to work I think they will have too. It would make it easier on the family.

I thought that was Entertainment Tonight? (I know, they're pretty much the same show .. owned by the same people)

Kathy Griffin was restrained .. but the whole thing played out like I thought it would ... most of the shock factor was leaked to get people to watch and then it was a whole lotta nothing, all done for ratings.

true. she had the attitude about the arrest that I thought she would, maybe that's why I didn't think much about it.

it's very sad, it's also an old picture. she was a party girl in college, she didn't deny that. Maybe she's not drinking much anymore, so she doesn't think she has a problem?

"They" are the producers & the same show to me.

The potted plant picture was last year the arrest was when she was 18.
Not too many people think they have a drinking problem:laughing:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, J&K DISer's!!!

If Kate + 8 does not happen, LA is where they will all move to IMO. If you are going to have a career in that industry that's the place to be.

The house they have here with the land would be in the double digit millions IMO. They could only get a little tiny house for a million in that area of CA.

I will say living an hour from LA....it truly is an exciting city. I probably go into LA once a month (maybe more)....the weather, the shopping, the restaurants, the night life, the sights, the sounds, the action....very exciting to say the least. :goodvibes I was just there last Friday. I really love LA and I can see easily why people love it so much. ::yes:: Their PA home is in the country and LA is the big city. Maybe that is why Kate and Jon love coming here. I agree NYC is a big city but this time of year especially with our weather. Beautiful. :sunny:

In one of Kate's very recent interviews she stated that she promised her kids that they would live in their current home "forever" - and she would do whatever she had to in order to keep that promise..

Would that too fall by the wayside - as did the vows to not only each other, but the children as well - at their marriage renewal?

Would they have to live in LA for one of the parents to work there? Jon could get rid of his NYC apartment - he's already got the place in Utah so he'd just need an apartment in LA to stay while he was working there. Kate could live somewhere close - maybe near Las Vegas or something?? I don't know what big citites are a close enough to commute from living outside of LA to wherever they decided to live to "avoid" the CA higher cost of living and restrictive rules.....just a thought.

Janet Weidenheimer, who helped take care of the Gosselin children and appeared on Jon & Kate Plus 8 several times has passed away, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Known as Nana Janet, she once famously rode a horse during a birthday party shown on the TLC program.

Sadly, Janet passed away October 28. Janet’s funeral services are Saturday in Sinking Spring, PA. She volunteered to help the Gosselins care for the children and is remembered by friends and family as loving and giving person.

I'm pretty sure the place in Utah is just a timeshare, although he may own a couple of weeks -- the place where he bought his condo, the condos are all timeshares.

HAILEY is now going to be on ET Monday night. Mary Hart has another exclusive interview, but the BEST is, Jon is sitting right off camera. The commercial showed him sitting on the floor by the camera watching the interview and then Mary says "Jon, I think we should all three talk together."

All just part of the staged drama. Like I said in a previous post, they probably went out for beers after the interview and laughed it up.

That's so sad.. I think she truly loved those children.. :(

Anyone know if she had been ill?

While I don't promise my kids forever--just b/c they are secure enough to not really ponder and worry about such things....

I don't think it is fair to throw them under the bus for things they said at the vow renewal.

I don't consider it going back on a promise--much the same as if she felt she had to sell the house.

That being said--unless she lands something big while flyng solo, they won't be able to afford livng in CA.

She felt their old house was too small--and that would be about as much as they could afford right now.

It would be foolish for her to make the transiton to CA, IMHO.

That's a shame.

And I'm sure it will come up--but I think the parents have the right to decide whether or not the children would attend the funeral as that is an individual parental decision to make.

We shouldn't hold it against Jon or Kate if they make a decision that may differ from what we might do with our own children.

We're going to a funeral on Tuesday and I hand't anticipated taking the chldren. But my husband said that we all would be going. They've been to funerals before. However this particular relative is more distance and she was in the beginning stages of alzheimer's when my oldest was born and she's the only one who really ever met her. But she was a baby.

I had typed a long post earler and then my kids hit the back button and it was lost. AAAAACKKK! My kids are interfering with J&K gossip.:lmao:

Often many actors/actresses/famous people--don't live n LA. Usually it is the folks building their career or those who love their career--but many live away from Cali and just commute to their particular gigs as needed.

I just don't see the clan moving West. I know they love it--but the parents won't be able to live in the style to which they are accustomed with the high COLA.

Foolish, yes - but if it were to fulfill her dreams, she would do it in a heartbeat..

Of course I don't really see that happening.. "Kate" - starring in a film? I'd be very surprised.. "Maybe" a gig doing commercials (which could be done in NYC - at the very least) or a "walk-on" spot in a soap opera..;)

Just random dribble....

Many fulfill their dreams away from California. It isn't the only place to do movies or tv.

Soap Operas are falling like flies.

GH films in LA. AMC films in NYC. Not sure about the other few that are left. I think Days of Our Lives is NYC. ACtually--I'm positive about that. I seriously doubt Kate will end up on a Soap unless it is a cameo role.

Episodic televison is filmed in Cali--but also Florida, NC and other states.

Films are shot all over.

Most folks move to LA to get their agent and get their exposure and go on the casting call circuit.

Kate gets to the front of the Line as far as an agent is concerned as I'm sure her handlers at TLC would assist her with that since she has been on TV for several years.

If the talk show idea pans out--she could do that from NYC without commuting.

It never is a good idea to move to CA without good leads anyway b/c it could end up being a waste.

Kate--if seriously pursuing this dream. Would be better off to stay put, get the experence as she is able on various projects and only move IF something comes along that is a contract role.

Otherwise it is a waste of time.

(Based on the experience of an acting coach I had that did relocate to LA after working with Talent in Orlando for 5 years who also has a daughter that she helped from a young age become an actress is a very popular character GH.)

ETA: Also she says she would like to "do" a film--not star in a film. After listenign to the few commercials she did as part of J&K plus 8 (remember the product placement with some computer game and then they had a commercial where she did a VO)--it would behoove her to explore acting lessons with an excellent actng coach before she gets too serious. If she presume she can do stuff just b/c of her name, she will fail. But there are many ways to act and be part of the industry without being the superstar.

.

I think her best bet would be to stay put - and "try" for a talk show.. Maybe TLC could come up with some unique idea for her.. Whether she would have a big enough following to pull it off (without having the kids on air) remains to be seen..

The last thing we need here in LA is another self-absorbed soccor mom, a 32 going on 16 year old dad with eight TV diva kids.
