She also admitted that around the same time she withdrew $100,000 from that account -- she decided to split that with Jon when the arbitrator was assigned. We never learned how much his withdrawal was for.

And then some time after the arbitrator was assigned, she completely drained that bank account and the arbitrator forced her to put it back.

Yes, she stated the 100,000 withdrawal came after he took money out. I didn't hear her state that she split it with Jon, I thought she said the arbitrator told her to put it back.

Where did the info that she drained the account come from?

After all is said and done, I am putting these two in the same category as so many lottery winners across the world. The story is the same, and sad, case after case. A person who is barely making ends meet day to day takes a few presious dollars and plays the lotto. Surprise and shock, they win. Regardless of the amount they win in their minds, they are set for life and money will never again be an issue. When you read these stories the ending is all to familiar. They wind up broke because they spend like they are Bill Gates and all to soon the money is gone. That's where these two are at. Their sole income was generated by the show and fame resulting from the show. (Kate's book and speaking deals) Then all of a sudden there is trouble in paradise and the money might stop flowing. They realize they can't lead the same lifestyle they have become accustom to and reality sets in. Then it gets ugly, real ugly.

The situation is similar to what I encountered in my own life and what I am sure millions of Americans have encountered and continue to encounter every day. I worked in trading and made good money for a number of years. Then one day the bottom fell out and the great income stopped. I continued to work but the bonuses were not there and the pay was less. The difference between where I am today and where a lot of the people I worked with are is that I never bought the house I could only afford with the higher pay. I continued to drive my eight year old pickup truck. I saved a lot of what I made. I lived a sustainable life style and knew the gravy train could end any day. And it did.

The problem with lottery winners and Jon and Kate is that making a lot of money real quick is no indication that things will continue that way forever. The world we live in changes every day and what was hot last year (Jon and Kate plus 8) becomes and after thought this year.

Lottery winners, and reality show participants should be required to take a class on managing your new found wealth and how to live within your means because you will become yesterday's news really fast.

Jon and Kate missed that class and for that their children will pay as will they.
I honestly don't feel sorry for any of them because there are people and children who suffer every day of their lives because they have no place to live and they don't have enough food, and their parents never won the lotto much less even played it.

Gosselins may have a big loan..
Their $1.12 million estate in Wernersville, Pa., was actually purchased in the name of estate lawyer William R. Blumer as part of a Revocable Trust Agreement last October.

The trust is registered to the same address used by Jon and Kate Gosselin in their divorce case. Such a purchase by a trust is common in estate planning when couples wish to avoid probate issues.

But the 6,000 square-foot house and its 24 acres weren’t paid for entirely in cash in October 2008. There is a mortgage that is quite substantial.

The mortgage with Susquehanna Mortgage is also in the name of the estate and it is for $720,000 over 10 years.

A quick check of the BankRate.com mortgage calculator shows that the estimated monthly payment – before taxes – at 6 percent over 10 years is $9,000 a month. (The actual interest rate on the loan is unknown.)

As of October 5, the mortgage had not been paid off.

It is unknown if the Gosselins or the trust paid into the principal on the loan in the past 12 months.

It also would not normally be a matter of public record how the Revocable Trust Agreement was funded.

I thought she said on the Today Show this morning that she'd taken the $100,000 out and the arbitrator had her put it back/split it with Jon (she said she gave him $50,000 and she paid bills with her $50,000 IIRC). I didn't hear/read that she'd taken any other money out/drained the account - just Jon's withdrawls.

That's not the best picture but it looks like a typical day at my house - Kids fighting, me trying to discipline someone....

As for the ring, I think (could be wrong) that Kate said it was something she'd talked about with the gets they'd "get there" or something like that. I don't think/didn't take it like she was headed to Tiffany's (the store's in NYC right???) to pick it up or anything like that. I'd be trying to hold on to the rings or whatever at this point or "gifting" them to the girls for when they're married in case they need the cash - sell them at a later date if you're that desperate.

Also, I must have missed the trip to NYC somewhere....how/when did I miss that? It's getting to be too much to keep up with these days!

I must have missed her saying she split it, thank you.

It actually does look like a typical day at my house when my kids were younger. They are 15 & 11 now and some days...are still like that. :lmao:

I agree about the ring, she put it as a future goal and used the word "eventually". Not something she was buying today. And she said 8 small diamonds.

I'm watching the Today show online right now and I think this is what Kate said about money. A few days before Kate filed for divorce, Jon took a good chunk but did not drain their bank account. Because of this and his erratic spending, she took out $100,000 for just in case purposes. Kate decided to split that with Jon 50/50. Then they had a arbitrator and the arbitrator told her to put it back and she did.

I saw that same scene many times over at Disney World last week. kids crying, parents yelling, threats made "if you don't stop you are going to get a swat."

Why are people so upset about the picture? If they have kids, they never yell at them? They never act up? They are all perfect little snowflakes?

I confess, I gasped a bit, me acting like that to MY child is one thing, I'm not sure I would want the babysitter (non nanny ;)) putting her hands on my kid would definately cause me pause.

I did feel bad for Kate until I realized this is the most emotion I've seen in a long time (I would have broken down months ago) and thought geez she's so emotion when she talks about $$$.

I didn't feel that Kate was getting emotional because of money, I felt that she was emotional because she's scared she can't pay the bills, feed her kids, and keep a roof over their heads. Different perspectives I guess.

She says the things he says on TV , he's never said to her, it doesn't even sound like his words.....HOW MANY TIMES DID JON SAY ON TV THAT HE DIDN"T WANT TO DO THE SHOW ANYMORE????

Jon said he wanted off the show but he previously never said (without taking it back) that filming was unhealthy for the kids.

Kate admits to taking $100,000 out before she filed for divorce (she said she split that with Jon when the arbitrator was assigned), and to draining the bank account herself after the arbitrator took over, but put the money back when the arbitrator demanded that she do so. Funny, Team Jon never brought this to the attention of the press, although they did bring up another missing $100,000 which was found hidden in the house.

Kate says she never wanted to be talking about this issue in the media, was surprised when she found out about this bombshell (Huh? it was her lawyer's office that released the letter to the media)

It is wrong that Team Kate made this issue public (if they did) but I think its worst that Team Jon decided to publicly announce that $100,000 in cash was lying around in a house where his 8 children live. Did he or whoever on Team Jon think about their safety?

Her lawyers released the letter after it was made public. We do not know if it was really Kate who leaked it since Radar didn't name sources. I do think someone from her camp leaked it though.

The thing is if she shows emotion then she is faking it, if she doesn't become emotional then she must not care. We have no idea what her and Jon have been through in the last year. I am sure there have been plenty of tears on both sides.

:thumbsup2

Just listened to Kate on the View. I think what we have here is a long-term psychological reaction to the the fact that she had once found herself in a situation where she had no means to support her children and vowed never to put herself in that situation again.

I don't think it is fair to say "She should just be a nurse again." I think that she is right that they can only go forward. This lifestyle is the lifestyle that her kids are accustomed to. As a parent, I would feel so much liked I had failed if I were to suddenly take everything away that my children understand to be "normal".

She says this is the way that they earn money for the family. Jon clearly has no source of income seriously planned to support them (so what child support could she expect? Alimony?). Maybe long-term the show should end if it is really affecting the children....but I'm not sure that I would make different decisions in the short term if it meant seriously disrupting my children's lifestyle (and thus lead to other negative effects).

Also, what proof do we have that these kids are so damaged by being on TV? Really, do these kids act-out any more than any average child and, of course, all we really see is what is on camera?

Honestly, I think a lot of folks are just jealous that Kate is savvy and has found away to provide opportunities and freebies for her children.

Also, it is interesting that the same people who say "she should be home with her children" are the one's who say she should get a normal job to support her kids---which would take her away from home on a regular basis and require the use of babysitters (yet the use of babysitters is also criticized).

The poor woman just can't win in the "court of public opinion".

I do realize that mine is the minority opinion---but so be it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and that's min.

:thumbsup2

I don't think any change for the kids is good right now, including stopping the show. It should be done gradually in my opinion. Too much change just adds more stress and stability is needed. I don't doubt that the kids miss the film crew, just like the must miss their dogs.

Any changes right now need to be done s l o w l y.

I agree the most damaging thing the kids are facing now is a mother and father that want to speak about this divorce when they should be silent.

:thumbsup2 ITA! The kids don't need any more changes. I think there is some truth to the kids crying about not filming. They aren't crying about not being on TV but about the crew not being around anymore. From the footage of their interactions, the kids really loved the crew. They were friends to play with!

It would be nice if they had real friends and a real life that didn't end when the cameras stop rolling.

Why does the nanny insist on playing out front too? I read an account of a local who drove by on the weekend, probably this day of the picture and the kids are visible from the road, fron a car. She did say they were playing and laughing, but the house was MUCH closer to the road than it would appear.
