Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

Okay, just watched the 2nd interview. I really don't know what to believe. Kate just seems so "whoa is me" when anyone that watched the show knows this is not her.

The thing that got me laughing was when she was explaining Kate +8. There will be no divorce talk because Jon won't be on the show so it won't be like watching them go through a divorce. Yeah, okay. Just because Jon isn't on the show anymore doesn't mean the kids aren't going through a divorce anymore.

I just don't know what to think other than they are both very immature and they really need to stop going to the press to work this out. Go to the arbitrator, go to the courts, don't go to Today or LKL.

I just saw the interview online and find it ridiculous. The um's, fake tears, I can't pay my bills. I took money out of the account before but I put it back. My kids were crying because they can't be on camera 24/7. Jon & Kate need to get off tv, stop giving interviews and spare their children some shame from there eratic behavior. They are both guilty of taking that money. What does Kate want, more freebies and donations. Give me a break. She sure hasn't looked that upset at her appearances concerning the missing money?? So much for taking the high road! Stand by while we wait for Jon's rebuttel???

Yes, isn't it funny that Kate took out the money first "to protect it". How do we know this money wasn't taken out by Jon to "protect it"?

And to say that the kids CRIED over not filming, there is something wrong there. I'm sure she said that "we don't get to go to NYC this weekend because we aren't filming. See, we don't get to do fun things without the crew. I guess we'll just sit around and look at each other."

Also, if they are supposed to be in NYC this week does that mean they are missing a week of school?

CRY ME A RIVER! Whined about needing charity when she had the kids - pimped out her kids to get money. Instead of banking the money for the future and keeping their lifestyle the same.....they bought bought bought and increased their lifestyle 50 fold, and now she can't pay her bills!!!!! "Poor me, I make millions of my kids, and I can't afford to feed them!!!!!"

LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is she on TV this morning??????????????
How many messy divorces are there among celebrities? They don't keep going to the media with every little thing! Why did she have to go on TV? Not necessary to play this out blow by blow on tv! Take care of it in private and get back to us when you all work it out! She is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

This gets sicker every day! Kids crying over not filming - I'd love to hear how Kate presetned that one.

I just wish TLC would stop this train wreck - end Jon and Kate plus 8, please no Kate plus 8 and let these kids try to live a normal life!

She says the things he says on TV , he's never said to her, it doesn't even sound like his words.....HOW MANY TIMES DID JON SAY ON TV THAT HE DIDN"T WANT TO DO THE SHOW ANYMORE????

He's said the words, she just never listened!!!! If it's not what she wants to hear, she doesn't hear it. I remember her saying word for word... "Jon wants the show to go away, HELLO! it's not going anywhere!!"

Yeah, I can just hear that one... " YOUR &%$#&&^% FATHER ISN"T GOING TO LET US DO THE SHOW ANYMORE BECAUSE HE IS A MEAN &^%*&%^ AND NOW I CANT AFFORD TO FEED YOU OR PAY FOR OUR BILLS OR KEEP A ROOF OVER YOUR HEADS!!! WE"RE GONNA BE POOR!!!!!!!"

I would love to have a statistic on how many people there are in the nation with 8 kids that are doing just fine taking care of themselves. Even single mothers with no father around. They have these things called JOBS and they don't live in mansions or have all designer clothes, but they are happy and healthy. I would bet there are a few right here on the DIS.

I don't know much how things work with an arbitrator. Is Jon in contempt of court for removing the money? Is it the same as going against a court order or a judge's ruling?

I'd break down too if the father of my kids took 200 grand out of our household account!

Still wondering who is paying Kates expenses. :confused3 I don't believe it should be anyone's business but if him "stealing" money is our business then that should be too.

I would break down after being robbed 200 grand BUT I would also break down if my dh was cheating on me, in the tabloids and getting a divorce. Didn't see alot of emotion then.

Again, the only emotion I've seen was when end of last season he wanted the show to stop. She was probably worried then, especially whereas they had not been man and wife for months and again this am. I'm not falling for it.

Is it just me or does $231,000 seem like a small amount to have in their bank account? I mean I know it is a lot of money (don't get me wrong) but they were spending money like it was nothing so it seemed with the houses, cars, clothes, trips all the lawyers they hire that are not cheap, PR firms, etc. I just would have thought they would have other accounts where she could transfer money from so she would not be worried about paying bills. :confused3

Wow -- Kate's PR people are very good and I think she did a great job of covering the talking points (even the ones where she admitted to draining the bank account herself, because they knew that would be brought up by Team Jon if they hadn't admitted to it first)

So, here's my summary:
Kate says he withdrew $230,000 from the bank account between Aug. 10th and Sept. 29th -- not the day of LKL as her lawyer and the tabloids would have us believe -- so I guess that means he withdrew no money before that. If this is a joint account that they both had access to, perhaps this was where his bills were to have been paid from as well since Kate has control of all of the other accounts and Jon has no access to them. Weird how the timing worked out -- so convenient that this bombshell was dropped just days after the LKL interview when they have known there was money being withdrawn for almost 2 months -- could they not have quietly asked the arbitrator to do something at the beginning of Sept. if Jon was not authorized to pay his own bills with this money?

Kate admits to taking $100,000 out before she filed for divorce (she said she split that with Jon when the arbitrator was assigned), and to draining the bank account herself after the arbitrator took over, but put the money back when the arbitrator demanded that she do so. Funny, Team Jon never brought this to the attention of the press, although they did bring up another missing $100,000 which was found hidden in the house.

Kate says she never wanted to be talking about this issue in the media, was surprised when she found out about this bombshell (Huh? it was her lawyer's office that released the letter to the media)

Kate says the kids were wailing when they found out they would not be seeing the crew, would not be doing events -- :scared1: well, if that's what she told them no wonder they were wailing. How about being a good parent and telling them that they won't be doing events with the cameras but they'll have time for playdates with friends, won't be missing any school, will have more time to just be a family, and that you're sure the kids will see the crew from time to time?

Jon's lawyer is now saying that Jon only withdrew $170,000 from the account. That seems like a lot of money to me, but we don't know how much was supposed to be in there -- Kate never said. If they normally kept $500,000 in this account, and Jon had made no withdrawals until Aug. 10th, perhaps he didn't know his withdrawals would drain the bank account. Since Kate is in charge of the banking, it is highly likely that he would not have known the balance in the account. Having said that, I really hope Jon does not do an interview to explain his side of things -- a statement from the lawyer would be sufficient, including the ruling from the arbitrator.

ETA: so does it sound like I'm not rooting for Kate here? probably. I'm still reeling from her rationalizing the kids continuing to do the show. In fact, I'm starting to think that that is what all this money talk is about. ie we can't pay our bills without the show, the kids were wailing when they found out taping had stopped. All of this seems geared to making the public believe that not only is the show good for the kids, but it is the best thing for them and absolutely necessary to their well-being.

Hmm, Kate is worried about paying her bills and putting food on the table, right?

Kate Gosselin is switching rings – at last.

The reality-show star, who went back to wearing the ring her estranged husband gave her after a brief break this summer, is phasing out the last vestige of her union with Jon Gosselin.

"It's my Hawaii ring," Kate, 34, said on Monday morning's Today show, indicating the ring she got when the couple renewed their vows in August 2008. "I'm changing them out. I'm switching them out."

She says that with the increasingly nasty turn her divorce from Jon, 32, has taken, she's planning on wearing a new ring that has no association with Jon – an idea her kids support.

"We discussed a ring I might buy," she said. "It has eight little diamonds and a mother of pearl."

Well, they wrote Jon off the show. Problem solved!

The kids cried about filming? I'm guessing b/c they don't have a real life and the fake one is all they had. too bad, it's to join real reality, not TLC reality. (maybe Kate should get a monkey, I hear there's some money in that)

Exactly :thumbsup2 She never heard him when they were married and he was trying to be preppy TV guy -- why would she hear him now that he is the cool dude snowboarder who actually acts like he has a brain of his own (albeit one that she doesn't agree with)?

I don't know much how things work with an arbitrator. Is Jon in contempt of court for removing the money? Is it the same as going against a court order or a judge's ruling?

Jon would be in contempt if the arbitrator decided that he had to return the money and he refused to, or if he already had been explicitly told not to do such-and-such (like if Kate had drained the bank account again after she had been told to put the money back the last time), just as somebody would be in contempt of court by going against a judge's ruling.

Did they ever sell their old house?

Nope. And Jon said in one of the interviews that he has to make half of the mortgage payments on each of the houses they own.

:confused3

Kate apparently has control of all of the other accounts, so she can just choose to not transfer money if she doesn't want to. Funny how they never talked about that in the interview.

Excellent post! Kate and her lawyers are trying Jon in the court of public opinion. What's coming through clear to me is that Jon does have the power to stop the show. There was no sudden draining of money.

Please find a judge to gag these two!

Jon's lawyer looks like a total ambulance chaser.... seriously, he needs to find a lawyer with a little more class. Anyone else get that vibe from him?

I was wondering about the other accounts as well. She made it sound like that is all the money they have to pay the bills. If so, then they are going to be in a lot of trouble if the show doesn't resume quickly. I guess it's time to look for a 9-5.

Yes, I did too. He might be a great lawyer, but he does come across ambulance-chaserish. Doesn't help that Michael Lohan is the one who introduced them.

She said this was "liquid" which I took to mean there is more money, it's just not readily accessible.

Michael Lohan- that explains a lot.
