Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

“Kate Plus 8” will officially begin November 2nd and focus on the lives of the Gosselin children with a deeper focus on Kate’s role as a single mother, TLC announced.

A part-time single mother with a live-in not-a-nanny, catering on filming days, people to help clean and do laundry. I guess TLC thinks we'll believe this is "reality TV" but I think the jig is up.

You've never met my puppy. :rotfl2: I lost more tomatoes (both green and red) right off the plants than ever before. Dog ate entire blueberry bushes and if I didn't put the weeds in the garbage, she ate those too. She has no problem eating dirt or anything that might be in it. Weird dog! :rotfl2:

And I just came here to see if you guys had seen the note about Jon. It's on both radaronline and people.com Interesting...

I came home one day this summer and found my dog decided to eat the arms on my outdoor reclining chair! No joke! Dogs :confused3

And this too:

Jon is filing to slow down the divorce proceedings so that he and Kate can work things out better for the kids -- he has publicly apologized to Kate for his behaviour, stating that she was obviously hurting as much as he was (citing her breakdown at the taping of the pilot)

Interesting day in Gosselin world. What does all of this mean? Just couldn't be a coincidence that both of these are coming out at the same time. :confused3

My brother has a german shepherd about the same age as the Gosselin's dogs -- he had to have surgery after he ate a chunk of concrete. :scared1:

This news about "Kate plus 8" doesnt surprise me at all. For months TLC has been redoing Kate's image on the show preparing for this.. They let Jon screw up his own image while Kate took over.
IMO this is a last ditch effort to save the show.

I just saw this and came scampering over here to see whether someone had posted it yet. Of course, I'm late!;)

I'm going to be really cynical here. My hypothesis is that Jon's lawyer has told him that he has been behaving like a total idiot, and needs some time to renovate his image before a judge rules in the case. Jon is probably being told to clean up his act, starting yesterday.

Jon's statement in the Huff post is not a plea to preserve the marriage, it is a request to delay the divorce and asks Kate to be cooperative and "open up the lines of communication." In other words -- Jon is portrayed as the reasonable one who can apologise and admit faults.

I just see it as predictable tactics by a good lawyer in a mucky divorce. :rolleyes1

As to the renaming of the show. I can't say I'm surprised, but I doubt it will increase ratings at this stage.

ITA,
For the kids sake, you want them to work out an agreement,
but I feel too, Kate really is winning right now, and if they would go to court, I don't think she would have a hard time convincing the Judge, Jon is a douch bag.

Perhaps Jon sees the money train leaving the station.....

I'm going to go out on a limb here and state that I think he's been trying to jump off this train for a long time -- maybe just to get his own train -- but all the same. :rolleyes1

You've probably got it right, especially with Kate trying for full custody. Even if his motives are good eg. won't do his kids much good if he's off the show if they're still taping most of their days, ITA it's the lawyer that is behind this. Jon's image needs a lot of cleaning up right now. He was just downright stupid, since had he laid low he'd probably have nothing to worry about right now.

With his recent behaviour, Kate could get the kids, the house, the money -- everything -- even if she's not going to be home most of the time.

I hesitate again to post anything on this thread but having seen my sister go through a divorce with a womanizer, simply put IMHO, his lawyer sat his butt down and told him if he didn't straighten out he'd lose in the end, he's just lost his job with TLC, he'll have no cash coming in from them. All he'll have is the divorce settlement and again IMHO, Kate's got an attorney who gave her great advice that she took and is coming out of this the winner.

Well, seems Jon's new lawyer is earning his $$$. I don't really understand what it means though. How will delaying the divorce for 90 days make things any different? And I wonder what Hailey has to say about the delay? I wonder if they are still together?

All this should make for a very interesting interview when Jon goes on Larry King.

And forgive me....but what is the story of Kate's breakdown on the taping of the pilot?
I dont remember hearing about it.

I agree.

I think this is actually good for the kids. They will actually get a break from filming. They were filming with Kate, then filming with Jon. Now when they are with him they can be real kids without boom mics, cameras, and 5 extra people in their personal space.

I agree, as much as I would like to think that Jon has seen the light, it is most likely the workings of an attorney.

I would say that TLC planned a few months ago to eventually change the name of the show, I think they should have done it months ago. Did you all see that the little blurb about Hailey has been removed from the Gosselin's website?

Just a single Mom doing it all alone...

Apparently, when producers flashed a photo of her kids up, she started crying, saying she misses her kids when she's away from them.

Some fellow Dis members posted that that was a sign that she should have been home more -- by that time she'd been away for over a week doing the view, a speaking engagement, and the pilot taping.

I think Jon's interviews are always interesting -- you never know what is going to come out of his mouth -- and this is a live interview :scared1: I'm frankly a little surprised that TLC is letting him do it. TLC is still stating that he remains under exclusive contract, so I guess the gag order is still in place (but that never stopped him before)
