Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

there are at least 2 accounts of Friday's speech in Cleveland (polar opposite views. LOL). One of the questions was about filming:

Q. ‘What’s it like to have cameras around all the time and are the kids bothered by it?’ A. ‘I don’t notice them…well except the paparazzi…the kids love the crew and they are willing to continue…if we don’t shoot for 5 days they’re asking where they are…’ and then she rattled off the kid’s nicknames for the crew.

Now. I know that they could only be filming an hour a day for 5 days a week .. but it seems to me like every time they're asked about filming, the answer is different.

Yes, it is a different answer every time.

And Kate didn't say they missed the filming -- she said they love the crew. They're probably great people and love being around kids too. Doesn't mean the kids should be forced to film a TV show for their entire childhood -- couldn't they just stop the show and have the crew over for playdates?

I don't understand Madge..she said if they don't shoot for 5 days, the kids ask about them. I assume it doesn't happen often that they go 5 days without shooting, but did she say (I assume this is a speech of Kate's?) how many hours a day and how many days a week they shoot, and was that different from the usual a few hours a day 3-4 (or 5) days a week? I wonder why the pap's who are at the ouse never say how long the TLC crew is there. Maybe they'll see it here and tell us the real amount of filming LOL.

Funny, it seems that Kate has started to think that this is a "normal" way for kids to live their lives. IMO, it might have been ok if it was one day per month or every 2nd week, but to have them there half of the days is way too much.

I could be mistaken, but I thought Jon said during the Utah interview that it was something like an hour or 2 per day that the kids were being filmed. But it must be more than that if they have catering crews, etc. there on filming days. Then you would have to add to that the amount of time that their parents are filming and not have time to spend with the kids (which IMO is also an issue)

But I agree with you that we'd get a better answer from the paparazzi re how much the crews etc are there.

I am not going to go tit for tat (however the murder comment is just ridiculous), but I will tell you, that there is nothing you can say, that will stop me from posting, or commenting on your or anyone elses post, if I feel like it. I disagree with you that K & J are getting all these free trips, and that they are not connected to the filming of the show. If you have a different opinion, post it..but if I want to commetn on it, I will.

I didn't know I had followers :cool1: Heck redrosesix has agreed with me twice now..redrosesix, are you a follower :lmao:?

No its not over the top. You pick certain posts and disect and pick apart even if you have no clue what the poster is saying. Then you have your loyal followers pat you on the back.

Everyone on this post is entitled to their opinion. If my posts bother you so much, ignore them!

I don't remember just what Jon said, but I agree that it has to be more than 2 hours on the days they are filming. I think his point was that the kids were playing anyway. But then I'm sure they feel they have to defend the filming..since if the kids days were being taken up with filming, and not just playing, they would look bad.

Someone mentioned on another board, that the good part is, when the parents are home, and they are filming, at least the kids are often getting their undivided attention during that time, rather than be sent outside to just play all the time. And that they are prob doing stuff (like firing off the rocket, doing the scavenger hunt) that they prob wouldn't have time/interest to do with them. I had never looked at it that way, and not sure that I agree, but I did find the different perspective interesting.

Interesting that you see it that way. I think Jon would have resented Kate (and they would have split) even sooner, since she wanted the last 6, not he, if they hadn't had money. I always thought being poor (which they would have been with 8 of them..remember, that's when Jon went to the Salvation army, before the money came) made for more fighting.

Maybe... but they both would have been working full time. Katie would probably be doing shift work & Jon working days. They would be in survival mode.
If Jon was not rich I do not think the 20,30 or 40 year old women would be interested in him. 8 kids under 9 & Kate as the ex would be too much for most women. I do not think Jon would have left until he had someone else waiting for him.

Good! :thumbsup2 You have well-thought out responses, recognize that Jon and Kate are human who have gone wrong at some point but are not beyond redemption (although, I don't think that that is the right word ;) - brain frt :lmao: ), and that Jon and Kate, while selfish and thinking of themselves at the moment, didn't set out with that intent. You recognize that they both love their kids. And that the kids are the one losing at the moment.

For me. . . I hope that thread can continue to discuss Jon, Kate and the kids-everyone's opinions. ::yes::

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I like it that we have different points of view -- that's one of the reasons I like this thread: it makes me think. :thumbsup2 I do tend to get a little weary of the regular dis questions, like "Can I park at the Poly for the whole day if I'm having breakfast there?" (I had that one yesterday and today)

But when we agree on something we must be right. :cool1:

Agree with this, for sure!

:thumbsup2 I agree :rotfl::rotfl2:
(we didn't even get our usual 3 hour pass at the Poly when we ate at Ohana's last week, but then we had a resort pass, so maybe they were gentler on us).

After they found what they had to pay for childcare, one of them prob would have stayed home!

I agree about the young chicks and if Jon didn't have money. What's the appeal, if not money?

While I don't agree with you about Jon being the one who ended this marriage, I do agree with the rest of your statement.

And I do have to wonder about anyone who would knowingly jump into this sort of mess. :confused3 Even Stephanie Santoro, who might have seen a way to rev up her modeling career, has completely stayed out of the media.

All I know is that I like the show. I know it is reality TV and we are seeing edited versions of them and that we see what TLC wants us to see. I also know that the trips and all the freebies are perks of doing the show since they are being used as part of the show. To me it is no different then Project Runway going into a fabric store and having free run to get what they need and at the end we hear them say "thanks Mood" so we all know what store they were in. Or on Top Chef they go on locations and are always shopping in Whole Foods...plus mentioning the restaurants that the judges run...free advertising, free product placement..it's pretty much a fact of life in reality TV shows.

I don't begrudge J & K any of this, they did what they felt they need and wanted to do for their family..just like we all do. We just didn't have a TV show knocking on our doors. I'm not all up in arms over the fat that the kids have cameras around them, I'm one that thinks that pulling the show abruptly would not be a good thing because this is what is normal for the kids and with the parents splitting they need this as the one constant in their life.

I do think the show is running it's course though and will end sooner rather than later...mainly because the kids are older and with school in the future there will not be as much to film. This is when they should be making a slow transition to removing the cameras from day to day and then eventually it can just be special occasions and/or trips. I like watching the trips, I get to see places I won't go to, just like watching Samantha Brown on Travel Channel.

Well written (IMO).

I do think with the age of the kids, less and less people will tune in. I think a lot of people liked watching thm make it work with younger children, but most of us could make it work as they get holder and do more on their own.

Although I would never want to see it on , once they were teens, I do think it would be intersting to see how they will handle all those teens. Three teens at once was harder for me than three youngsters! And hard on my hair color too!

ITA with all of this.

OMG! We're agreeing again. :scared1:

BTW, apparently Jon is only leasing his cars. I don't know about Kate.

IMO, there is a rift between Kate and anybody who would have given her impartial advice. But I wonder what Jon's mother has been saying to him about the show, since she never wanted to be a part of it.

As long as Kate is doing everything she can to keep the show, and Jon is doing everything he can to get out of it, I think the public war is going to continue. Because of this, the normal bickering that goes on in a divorce has been magnified tenfold. :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I know this is off Topic but my accountant just told us the terms for a car lease are terrible now. Many automakers are not even offering leases. We have never leased but he always had. The Mercedes is probably a good choice since it hold its value more than most cars.

While I don't agree with you about Jon being the one who ended this marriage, I do agree with the rest of your statement.

I have said before I think Kate did kick Jon out of the bedroom & it backfired on her.

Sorry -- I don't agree with this at all. Even if the kids film half of the time, then they're not filming half of the time ie. maybe they're used to having the cameras around but they're also used to them being away.

JMHO, I don't think the filming is good for the kids under any circumstances, and it seems particularly intrusive to me right now. But with so much upheaval in their lives right now they need some time away and more time to get used to be with each parent separately.

I don't see it the same way but that's OK, nothing wrong with different opinions.

Not that it's any of my business, but I wonder, if she did kick him out, were there good reasons? I wonder if the first pics with the young chicks were just the first we saw. Just something that goes through my mind every once in a while.

There is so much we don't and won't ever know (again, not that it is any of my business).

Surprise, surprise, look who jumped on the bandwagon!!!!

Why do you always make everything personal?

DMRick, there was another word I was looking for this morning to describe your posts, now that I am more awake, it is - rational!
Keep it up. I look forward to your posts. :)

The personal jabs and comments toward and about other posters do not belong here.

If you wish to keep this thread going and for all to retain their posting privileges, discuss the topic of the thread. Avoid insults and sarcastic remarks about other posters.

Thanks.

None of it is our business that is why we post under usernames:rotfl:

I think she was fed up with the way he acts & she is a control freak. I think they feed off of each other's worst character defects.

I think he was going to the bar & she did not like it but he kept doing it.
