The show only showed a portion of their time at the ranch. Seemed like they wanted to show some segments of Kate alone and they did. I think it was perfectly fine for Kate to do some things separate. I would bet she spent most of the time with them anyway. She could have taken a nanny with her, and she didn't.

That's right they showed segments so I wonder how much time she did spend away from them. As for letting go of her control, it can also be seen as her not caring so much about what the kids do as long as she is more visible on the show.
She had someone there to watch her kids. She keeps saying her kids are her priority. Then it should be that way when they are on vacation, esp. since she doesn't see them everyday. And more importantly hasn't seen them very much this year with all of her book touring.
I have nothing against Jon or Kate and I can see things both ways. But to me for a woman who keeps saying she does everything for her kids....I didn't see it.

Like someone else said upthread, how do we know that there was no nanny. We didn't see the bodyguard either, but didn't Kate say in an interview that he was there as well?
I don't know Madge, I think Jon is going to tell all. I don't know if anyone is coaching him through the interview, but he tends to reveal all. In that Utah interview he couldn't stop talking no matter what the reporter asked him he answered. I'm sure Kate's team is thinking of damage control. IMO!
There is 4 sides to this story. Kate's, Jon's, TLC's, and the truth. I don't believe we will ever know an unbiased version of what has truly, without media spin, happened in the last 12-18 months. There's no way we can
Very true.
Seems to me, if Jon is concerned about how he is being portrayed in the media and public perception, then he needs to put his playboy lifestyle on hold. He needs to accept that he is 32 and not 20, hire a grandmother type to be the nanny, stop hanging out at the gate of the property.Does he have a right to move on with his life? Absolutely, I hope Jon and Kate both find happiness, but there is an appropriate time for everything.
He also needs to stop saying things like--how much he prefers being in NY where it is quiet than with his children. I really don't think Jon meant that the way it sounded, but the way it sounded was not good. My point is....Jon has mostly himself to blame for how he is being portrayed in the media.
Based on the last few shows, I do think this divorce will end up making them both better parents. They seem so much more relaxed and able to enjoy life.
I agree with everything you're saying .. but focusing on the bold part, I especially agree with Jon has himself to blame. He really does. But comments like the one about NYC that are made on the show? Just like everything else, we have no way to know what was said before and after that phrase.
I watch The Bachelor... they do serious mind games with the edits on that show. I read an interview by a former contestant that said he was amazed at what they did to his words. I have NO doubt it's the same on Jon & Kate, with Jon AND Kate. If TLC is siding with Kate, then why wouldn't they make subtle (or not?) edits to make her look more favorable? or vice versa? I think they've been doing it all along. That's why it's not really reality. The Gosselins may just be living their lives .. but what TLC shows us is another version of that.

I can't believe he said he was abused. To me, that is very strong word and yes, I think maybe Kate did verbally abuse him, but Jon is no shrinking violet, he could have handled this very differently and his actions since the split say to me that he really just wanted to get away from the responsibility and live the way he wants to. Kate took it too far, but Jon has always struck me as the kind of person that needs alot of direction, like my BIL, my sister can ask him nicely 10 times to mow the lawn, but he never does it until she yells at him to get out there and mow the darn lawn already!
