Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

The fun of this board has sure changed in the last month or so...especially since some who have enjoyed the show have moved on and away from this thread . It's just becoming so much about judging, and intesne dislike..and very little of the judging is ever good. What happened to just reporting on what is going on? Why so very much judging and assuming? As I've said before, I truly don't understand why some of you follow this and look at the pictures and the rag mags, etc. If I hated something as much as some hate this show and these people, I would never want to keep up with them.

I watch the show, but hesitate to post and get slammed.

BTW, just noticed your ticker. Looks like we're both gonna be at WDW at he same time!

Sounds like they have had a little help as well. I have no idea if they were approached by something like TLC, but if they were, and decided to bow out, it was prob the right choice for them. Different people, different choices. Maybe that exclusive contract stopped TLC from even asking.

I wonder just what we have done, booking on a holiday, and in big time heat, but it's the only time the grands could go and not miss school or camp, or whatever. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Actually I used to watch the show every week with my kids and we enjoyed it! However, I really feel the situation has deteriorated now due to the actions of the parents, and I honestly don't feel that it is a good situation for this family to be on a reality show. That is my opinion can't I say that without being accused of "judging"?

Anyway, I promise to limit my "judging" to those who put their lives out there for public consumption on a reality show! Not to other Dis posters!

DMRick, do you really think it is good for the family to be doing the show now? The money they make is a big benefit, obviously, but do you see any negatives for the kids?

PS-we went to WDW a few years ago at the very end of August-it was still hot but the crowds were way down as most states had already started school! It worked out great-hope it is the same for you!

Wow, judge much? I can't get over how much you guys really intensely dislike Kate. You are sure by the body language that she is having an affair, you can tell by her child's eyes how much the paps bother her, and even though the other family has stated they have help, because it's not a reality show, you feel they are supporting their children all on their own, unlike Kate and Jon , who you give zero credit to for what sweet kids they have and how hard they have worked (J & K), you assume she doesn't want custody of her children, but just wants to control Jon, and because she talked to the father of her children in his car you assume it was all for show.

I've been on a lot of boards, and I'm on three for J & K, but this one is so intense with the dislike, I just can't believe it. I'm glad you guys haven't found anything to judge me on. There is absolutely nothing Kate could ever do that would please you.

Well, you're not doing a media blitz right now. If you were, then I guess we'd be judging you too.

As for Kate's behaviour at the school buses, I stand by my opinions. When I picked my child up from school on the day my father died, I did manage to smile. And you included my post, even though I managed to bash Jon in the very next one.

I don't watch very much TV at all, but I find this thread far more interesting than the show -- I like to read other people's opinions on what is being put out there. And if I were to watch a TV show, it would probably be something like LKL, but only the episodes where they have a round-table discussion about a particular subject or person.

IMO you can. I certainly put out my opinion That wasn't what I was talking about. Those opinions have been here since the begining. That's a bit different from bashing. That gets tiresome after awhile.

Of course I see negatives..I did when the parents were getting along. I hated the bathroom issues in the back of the van. I think they will regret that TLC showed that. But I only get to see what either TLC or the mags put out there. I've never gotten to talk with J or K in person (I invited her to join me in Disney, but I got no response LOL..kidding!), and I see so little of their lives, I really don't know if having this show will help or hurt the kids. They are their kids, they appear to me (both of them) to love them. While they may not make the same choices as me, I'd be hard pressed to say that they would purposely hurt their children, just based on what I do see. The kids seem to enjoy the show. I guess for me, it's just , hey, it's their kids and it's ultimately their decision. I do hope it's the right one.

I thought Kate and Jon looked annoyed. You know, if people are really worried about how the paps affect the kids, they should try not to watch the videos and read the articles. As long as they get clicks and views, they will keep showing up at the bus stop, stand outside their homes, etc.

a few observations on the whole back to school bus situation

first and foremost the paparazzi are way to close in proximity to those children and that bus while I knw that j and k have allowed this situation to sprial to this, there needs tobe some intervention from some authorities stopping the photographers from getting this close

feel horrible for these kids such a bad situation these kids should be driven to school to avoid further abuse this is abuse of these children mental abuse!!!

jon didn't even acknowledge 'the body guard' steve donttell me something isnt going on between steve and kate jon's body language says it all!!!

I disagree that because Jon didn't acknowledge Steve that it means Kate & Steve is having a affair. Jon's awkward body language could also be from feeling guilty/awkward about spreading the rumors of an affair. There was a tabloid article that said Jon started the rumor and that since he didn't like Steve, he didn't care what the fallout will be. I'm not saying the Jon article is true because it was never proven, just like how Kate & Steve's affair was never proven.

But Jon & Kate chose this life for their kids. Like numerous articles have said this is part of the game (paparazzi, fans). They could of handled this 1st day of school so differently, but, with Kate doing all she can to polish her image and save "the show" she is a media hound. Her body language told the story. The way she strutted across the parking lot (they probably could of walked from home and been closer to the bus) and then lined them up in front of the bus--all the while 6 pairs of terrified eyes not knowing where to look or if they should talk! Anyone who defends this circus does not have the best interest of the kids in mind.

Well, none of us is Kate, a person who makes a living from being on a reality TV show. I just can't be that forgiving about this -- I really think she could have ignored the cameras a bit (even if she turned her back to the cameras when she was talking to/hugging her kids, as Jon did -- that was pretty effective).

The only other similar situation I can think of is when Princess Diana took her sons to their first day of school -- talk about press, when Prince William went it was the first day of school for the future king of England. Diana totally pulled it off.

So, maybe Kate should be coached to always smile with/at her kids, and then nobody can criticize her for doing it. I would also give Jon the same advice. I'd like to see less focus on how they look for the media and more on how they look to their kids.

just watched the video. Is it normal in some towns to get picked up in a parking lot??
When I grew up and now with my kids, the bus comes to the house (or a street near the house and the kids walk to the bus stop, not a parking lot!!)

My DS is going to a charter public school this fall. We have to pay for busing, and all the stops are in parking lots. Our stop is in the local Target parking lot. My DH or I will need to drive him/pick him him up from there each day.

I am quite happy to have this service available. It can be a pain to have to drive long distances to school each day. Our DS before this has been in parochial schools, and at one time the drive was 45 min each way. I would have much rather have had the bus option.

That's your opinion, not a fact, at least that any of us knows. The difference is, you saw her strut across the parking lot. I saw her walk. That's the way it is with anything she does. Some feel everything she does or says is just for attention for herself. If she smiles at the paps, she wants the attention, if she ignores them, shame on her, it wouldn't hurt her to smile. If she drove her kids, instead of letting them take the bus, she's not letting them have a normal life. If she didn't line them up for their picture, and just quickly got them on the bus, someone would probably say, geesh, what's up with that, I always take a picture of my kids in front of the bus on the first day of school.

Let's face it, some of you want her to end the show. There is absolutely nothing else she can do that would make some people happy. We have no control over that, and when we lose the control, the only thing we can do is criticize. And Kate has thick skin and since she feels she's doing what's best for her 8 kids, she just ignores us. As long as we are talking about the show, reading the mags, watching youtube and repeats, and posting on line, TLC and Kate will see the interest and the show will continue. We help keep the show going, and I'm sure for that, Kate thanks us.

I don't think that the camera crews would have been allowed to film on school property.

I live in the neighborhood where Drew Peterson lived(he's now in jail) and drop off and pick up children at the elementary school where is youngest son attends. Before he was in jail, there were several occasions in which the media would follow him as he walked from his house to the school. Once he entered the school property, they were quickly told that they were not allowed on school property nor were they allowed to film.

IMO, the paps were probably looking for something between Kate and Jon. They didn't get much, so maybe the interest of the kids getting on the bus will be done now. Should they drive them to school and back everyday? Who knows...maybe they should hire someone to come in and teach them, so they didn't have to leave their house. IMO I can't see that the interest on watching kids get on the bus will continue, unless, of course the rag mags see our interest and continue to pay for the pictures. Any picture taken, is only because a rag mag will pay for it, and they only pay for it, if they think the public wants to see it.

You have a great time, too! Oh my, the heat has been brutal down here in South Florida, so we're ready for that part. It's just dh and myself, the crowds don't bother us too too much. I can't wait, and I've gotta do some packing today. Have fun!

I, for one will absolutely judge people who I believe are exploiting their kids! These people are not my neighbors, they put themselves on TV and in magazines EVERY WEEK. Have you ever heard of the 'other family' before? I haven't! They are not getting the same level of help as J&K did. How can you even compare that!?

What happened to the No Bash thread? You keep up here instead, where we do try to talk about the reality we see. And it's not all flowers and rainbows. Unfortunate for the kids, but true.

If Kate took her kids off TV and began to shield them from paparazzi even a little bit, THAT would please me and I would never say another word about her. She could get a job on the View for all I care, just no more filming of the kids. (unless they of course become paid actors).
