Would you give her money? Not then, but today if you saw her speak?

Yep, I sure would, if I went knowing there was a love offering for the speaker. Why wouldn't I? I would like to hear her speak. I happen to like Kate now (I even hope she finds good man and someday remarries - I wouldn't even be upset if she soon dates, but then, I don't care if Jon dates either, as long as he's a bit more private about it). I don't care how much money she now has (and I just don't happen to think there show is bad for the kids..but I will hold that thought until they are old enough to write books), it's not my business..if she came to speak, she deserves to be 'paid'. Heck, I'm thinking Bill Clinton has a ton of money, and he still gets paid. I can't stand him, but if he was speaking in my area, and it was cheap enough, I'd prob go see him too LOL!

I agree, I don't see their show is more harmful than if the kids were involved in regular acting or modeling jobs. But I'm like you, reality TV is pretty new and we will have to wait until they are on Oprah telling their sides.

From cnn.com:

Team Kate gathers steam as 'Jon & Kate' returns

(CNN) -- What a difference a few weeks can make.

There was a time when fans of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" sympathized with Jon Gosselin, the seemingly beleaguered father of twins and sextuplets whose wife appeared to nag and belittle him before millions of viewers.

Even when there were allegations of infidelity on Jon's part, some fans rushed to his defense with the justification that perhaps he was driven to it by wife Kate's behavior.

But since the couple has announced their split, public sentiment seems to have shifted.

While Kate is often spotted with the kids (both with and without her wedding ring), Jon has reportedly moved to a bachelor pad in New York, started hanging out with Lindsay Lohan's father, Michael Lohan, and been out on the town with not one, but two alleged paramours.

"I think what's happening here is you are sort of finally seeing Jon's true colors," said Sasha Pasulka, head writer of the entertainment Web site Evil Beet. "People are starting to see why Kate was so frustrated with him, because he is behaving like a 23-year-old right now."

The hit TLC reality series is set to return from hiatus on Monday to much anticipation about how the network will portray the lives of the newly separated couple.

According to People.com, TLC General Manager and President Eileen O'Neill said during a Television Critics Association panel in Pasadena, California, that the first episode will feature the parents individually interacting with their kids.

What O'Neill didn't reveal was whether the two women reported to be Jon's girlfriends -- Hailey Glassman and Kate Major -- will appear on the show.

"As far as new people and places that may be cycling into Jon and Kate's lives, we're taking it on a case-by-case basis," People.com reported O'Neill told reporters.

Now the wait is on to see if viewers will stick with the show, whose very foundation -- initially -- was a family that is no longer together.

Writer Alisa Bowman said she believes people will still tune in for the drama.

Bowman, who lives about 40 minutes away from the Gosselins in Pennsylvania, can relate to the stresses that can tear a marriage apart. She started the blog Project Happily Ever After to share her experiences about how her marriage almost crumbled and to offer help to those in crisis.

"As voyeurs, people love to watch other people have marital problems, because it makes us feel normal," Bowman said. "Part of the allure of watching it is that you can sit there and say 'I'm not that bad.' "

Bowman said there is often a rush to blame one partner or the other for the marriage's demise when in reality, both usually play a part.

"When my marriage was failing I thought it was all my husband's fault and he was the devil and I was an angel," she said. "I don't think they showed everything about [the Gosselins'] relationship on TV, but there was definitely something unfulfilling about their marriage. In the end, the big problem is that they didn't work on their marriage."

Attorney Ed Sherman, the author of several books on divorce, including "Make Any Divorce Better," said he tries to advise people on how not to waste their money and emotional energy on their breakup.

The loss of a relationship is something that just about everyone has gone through and that could help to make the show attractive to viewers, Sherman said, even though he is at a loss to explain why someone would subject themselves to starring on reality television.

"Everybody in the United States breaks up and they can all relate to it," Sherman said. "You can't lead a real life when you are always on camera."

However, whether many people may be able to relate to the Gosselins' recent lifestyle is an open question.

The success of the show has allowed the pair to be able to afford to live the good life.

Jon's first public outing with another woman came during his vacation in the South of France. Tabloids have reported thousands of dollars in shopping sprees to indulge an alleged love of designer clothes and shoes.

Meanwhile, RadarOnline.com reported that Kate planned to move to Rockville, Maryland -- where her bodyguard and widely speculated alleged new love interest reportedly has an office. Her camp shot the story down very quickly.

Pasulka said she often receives tips about Jon Gosselin's antics in the Hamptons, where he has been spotted hanging out with everyone from Lohan to one of the members of the "Real Housewives of New York."

Pasulka said she thinks the world is witnessing a man who is determined to live out the youth he missed out on by becoming a young father of multiples -- albeit with some choices that haven't played well with the public.

"Jon & Kate Plus 8" must go on, Pasulka said, because the couple is contractually obligated to TLC, but she believes they would be wise to end the show at the season finale.

Pasulka said she believes people initially tuned in because of the adorable Gosselin kids, but the show quickly became about the dynamic between the parents -- and about Kate, who has been polarizing.

"[Kate Gosselin] is an incredibly compelling television personality," Pasulka said. "You either hate her or you love her."

Didn't realize they had a pool. I'll never understand why they are forever on that driveway, with that huge, beautiful yard and pool.

If it's so the kids can ride bikes, etc. then they can just build a tennis/basketball court, or do they have one of those too?

So...what was the reason they got a new kitchen? What was wrong with the old one? Disorganized? I thought she was OCD organization woman.

Did it look nice? I guess I should watch, huh?

I don't think regular child actors are filmed in their houses having their every move, every vacation, every outing with their parents staged and filmed for a tv show.

There are NO laws governing reality show children in PA. No guidelines as to how often and long filmed or any laws overseeing their earnings. No laws and no regulation for reality TV currently. It's a slippery slope.

There is something I really dislike about watching the kids in the interview chair. I feel very uncomfortable watching them ham it up and be silly and try to be entertaining. But of course, they're not "working."

It feels so wrong, watching this show.

I'm pretty sure the reason was that there weren't enough cabinets and something about the stove working better. It was actually one of the cabinet guys who answered the kids' question about why they were installing a new kitchen. The cabinets are gorgeous IMO but they aren't finished yet and will be continued in next Monday's episode.

that reason would be that she can because she has the $$ the way I see her feed the kids on paper plates all the time, she can get rid of the dishwasher and use it for the cabinet space she said she needs

did they not get a new stove from whirlpool?

I just wanted to say "WAY TO GO KATE!". If my husband was too busy running around with young girls, I am not sure I would have gumption to say I can do it! She is not outdoorsy; neither I am. My verison of camping is in my camper with ac, cable and wifi! :rotfl2: Granted a tent three feet from you house isn't camping; however, I love her can do attitude! She it trying and that speaks volumes, at least to me!:thumbsup2

Okay, I'm watching Ultimate Cake-Off (anyone else addicted to these cake competitions?) and the commercial for next week says "a much needed vacation"....ummmm a vacation from what? House renovations? Clue me in here.

Kate said on tonight's episode that they use the pool a lot. Just because we don't see them in pictures using it doesn't mean they're not. It's their property so they can use it however they wish. Just because we don't see pictures or episodes of them using it, doesn't mean they're not. Know what I mean?

Actually Kate said that even though paparazzi are there, she refuses to hide the kids inside. They deserve to do normal things and if the paparazzi happen to be there, so be it. Something to that effect. This was in the context of the paps being at the beach (Bald Head Island) where they were vacationing.

I certainly don't think their every move, every vacation, every outing is filmed. If that were true, we'd be seeing lots of Starbucks filming! :rotfl: Kate certainly goes there a bit but then again, so do I. ;)

Have you watched other people's home movies before? Kids are VERY silly when there's a camera around. That's a very normal reaction. I think the Gosselin kids are acting like regular kids. Now if one them starts asking for a personal assistant then I'd be worried!

I might be wrong (please correct me if I am) but I thought I heard her say that her "new best friend's husband" worked for a company that remodeled kitchens and that they wanted to redo her kitchen for her.... and of course she said YES

Hey, where are you Michelle VW? I had another dream about your BFF Kate. She was actually asking my advice on how to deal with the divorce! A definite sign that I am much too interested in this family and spend too much time reading this thread!!:laughing::laughing:

Lol....I've been soo busy!! I got a part time job but it's been mostly full time!! Got hired for 20 hours a week, turned into 30 hours a week and last week it was 37 hours!! That just means more money for Disney!! :thumbsup2

To keep this OT, I think about the Gosselins a lot at work because I work in the infant room of a daycare!! It's crazy....we have a 4-1 ratio and it's crazy sometimes with 2 adults to 4 babies!! I can't imagine what it was like with 6 of them!!
