One thing that did bother me about this spanking issue was that poeple keep saying that the show is not real and then this happens and people can't handle the realness. For years parents spanked their kids and we turned out fine. These are Kates children and she should discipline them as she sees fit.

I can see why she wouldn't want it on the show....not good for making poeple feel good. but, there was no filming and it's her home and property. Its sad that these paparazzi can stake out their house like they do. I'm sure they never expected this much of a following when they first started and I can tell you living in the area that none of this type of stuff happened until after Jon was "caught". It will always be Kate as the "bad guy".

I have no doubt that Kate has her own justification for continuing on with what their lives have become.

It says they heard her say, "didn't you not hear me!" to Leah. It didn't say she screamed it, so someone was allegedly close by.

Gosh, what do they do, have voice magnifiers as well? Oh, so she had already asked Leah to stop? I wonder (and it's just a wonder, not a fact) how many times she might have told her to stop.

I don't understand why it's not against the law to stalk someones home.

Sheesh, I'm so tired of the argument that J&K need the show in order to survive. They can make it work just like tons of other large families. Maybe that means not buying a million dollar home and the other perks they've grown accustomed to. No more matching Gymboree clothes or trips to Starbucks. Sure they'd have to cut corners but we already know Kate loves her coupons. It seems ridiculous to me to assume that unless they do the show, they will not be able to provide for their kids. As far as college goes, that's far down the road and there's nothing wrong with the kids taking out loans if they need to or working summer jobs to make $. Since when is a college education supposed to be handed to your kids on a silver platter?

I think it was in poor taste that the magazine ran it! Especially to put that on the cover. I have no problem with a child getting a little discipline but it shouldn't have been plastered on a magazine.

Just curious..is this a bad thing Kate has done, or a good thing (it's hard for me to tell sometimes)? I barely saw it mentioned. I assume she could have kept it but decided to donate it:

Here's what I saw. Mady was kind of thirsty but once again blew the whole thing out of proportion. Kate told her it wouldn't be long, but did get a bottle of water from the assistant. Kate is the one who was going to do all of the talking in the interview. Not Mady. Not the little kids. If she had given in to Mady's whining, I'll bet every kid would have wanted water and really, they only had to wait a few minutes more. I don't think for a minute what she did was cruel or selfish. I think she knew she was about to give an interview and did what all speakers do - took a quick sip of water before it started.

I don't love the woman but I seriously don't think she's mean to her kids.

I'm with you on that, the paps are stalking. Where is Jon btw, how come no pictures of him (anywhere) have surfaced? I hope he hasn't had an unfortunate accident.

The child is 5, and whistles are irresistible fun to a kid and she is outside where it would be appropriate to blow a whistle. Kate could move somewhere other than where kids are playing to speak on the phone or wait until later.

As with the water, it's not about the spanking, it's about the appropriate response to oneof her children and the complete lack of situational awareness that Kate demonstrates.

I'm sure this issue was covered between TLC and the Gosselin's. Showing spanking would be the same as reason it can't be discussed on BBs, etc.

Yes, less than 10 words. I saw the same interview and her mother spoke the entire time. Which is why she took a sip of water first. That's what you do when you speak at length, especially on live TV.

you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but we don't know why she took the drink without offering any to Mady, who had been repeatedly asking for a drink.
