I don't post in this thread, but I always read it. :rolleyes1 Anywho, can someone tell me, is the American Chopper Kate and Jon episode that's on tonight before the new J&K, different from the J&K new episode? Does that make sense?
Thanks!:)

I'm pretty sure J&K8 episode will have the "couch commentaries". When the OCC had their show, they had commentaries from Sr. Jr. and Mikey. So, we will get to hear what they had to say. I'm sure this was a do-over too, but this show was just recently shot and their was some moments, when Jon showed Kate how the 8 names of the kids were on his bike. Jon took a test drive, and Sr. said something about opening the gate and Kate replied, "Ya, Let him go". I did hear Kate once yell for Jon, but the camera didn't show anything, or show Kate, or show what she was referring too. Instead of giving Kate a scooter, they should of made the bike for Jon a 2 seater, so Jon and Kate could of rode together.

I try to give Kate the benefit of the doubt. I understand that she has 8 children and she's very high mantance. I get that. So I try not to judge her. But when I see clips like this, it REALLY pisses me off!

SHE took a sip of water, in front of the child who was begging for some water, yet she still denied her water? That was cruel!!!:sad2:

Once again...I don't see the big deal...they didn't have time to get them all a drink before they started filming. I think there are things to get upset about and this isn't one of them to me...

Sorry to ask but baseball took up all of this weekend, but did anything come of those revealing pictures of Kate from friday in the front yard? The ones in where she was the dress blowing up the inflatable for the kids. Also any news about if Jon and Kate went out for the anniversary night?

But yet, she found time to take a sip. IMO, that was cruel. If my child asked for something as simple as water, I don't know, I would have given my child a sip before I took a sip! At :38 Mady said "You're drinking right in front of me, that isn't fair."
By the time they are in their teens, these kids will be in therapy

that seems to be what a lot of people think. LOL... and that's what bothers me. if Kate hadn't opened the bottle and took a drink, I wouldn't have given it much thought at all.

The Soup made fun of another portion of the clip with Mady and the water.
I guess during the actual interview, Mady is asked how she likes being a big sister now that the little ones are 5 years old.
She says more than once how she hates it. Then Kate tells her that is enough of her nasty comments.

That Mady is a piece of work. At least she is not afraid to speak her mind!

Sure they say that about all the reality shows. But I've never bought into that. It's a TV show, period, IMO. I just don't think they owe me anything. Most on this board saw trouble in paradise, so why are we now saying they pretended? They have not been nice to each other in ages. The only difference is they didn't actually say the words. But most on this board saw it. Again, in reality, do you tell all your secrets? Why should they have to? I don't think they got away with much, I think the paparazzi has kept us up to date. Maybe before he 'got caught' Kate pretended to herself that all was well (er well, maybe OK), and had to admit it wasn't once there was 'proof'. Pretty much like in real life, when someone suspects her husband is cheating, but can pretend he isn't, until she's confronted.

As I've said several times, I think a lot of the blame is on TLC's shoulders. I don't know what is in their contract, what they are allowed to share. I just don't know. I do know that other reality shows should be looking at this carefully. I doubt many marriages can withstand all the public scrutiny. Jon was always going to work outside the home too..he said he never wanted to stay home with the kids. We don't know how that happened, if he lost his job or if he and Kate decided while she traveled for the book release he would stay home, or what. We only get to see what TLC wants us to see.

Kate said in the season 5 premiere episode that she'd been dealing with this (ie: Jon) for 6 months, maybe more if she was being honest (her words not mine). Sounds to me like she was perfectly happy to pretend for the sake of the show. That's my interpretation of it anyway. Had Jon not gotten caught, who knows how long they would have pretended.

I'll say it again, J&K CHOSE to put their lives under this reality TV microscope. Nobody forced them, they made the conscious decision to continue each and every season. They are capitalizing on an image of their family, an image that includes J&K being together. Plain and simple. I don't feel sorry for either of them to be honest and after reading part of Jon's interview in People, even he seems to be fine with the kids being on TV. Anyhow, they are adults and are responsible for their own decisions and how those decisions affect their kids. All parents are.

Personally I don't think your argument for "do you tell all your secrets" is very valid. It is not the same thing at all. I don't parade myself, marriage and 3 daughters on TV for all the world to judge. J&K do and seem to be fine with it. That's why all these reality TV marriages have ended or are crumbling, the stress of being on the shows is too much and something I wouldn't consider for my family. Life is difficult enough. Marriage takes work and effort and adding in a high stress reality TV show would just make it more difficult.

I agree that TLC shares a part of the blame but again, J&K make the decision to continue with each season, not TLC. Of course it's in TLC's interest if they do, but Kate doesn't strike me as someone who would let TLC boss her around! If she truly didn't want to continue I'm sure the show would be history.

Thats my point! At first, the video didnt bother me at all. Mady was having yet another hissy fit. BUT the fact that Kate opened a bottle of water and took a sip right in front of the child. I'm sorry, I didnt like that one bit! That pissed me off!

I think they want her portrayed that way. Kate knew what she would say when asked that question (she answered the same question in other segments of the same interview). Why don't they ask Cara what she thinks? Maybe she won't talk, I don't know. Mady has a character to play. It's really making me sad especially seeing watergate. She doesn't want to be there, doesn't want to be interviewed and then people say how horrible she is acting. Why does she have to sit there, it really is of no benefit to her to do these interviews. I feel very sorry for her and I do not think she is bad at all.

Mady and Cara both hesitated when asked if Kate was a good mom. What a stupid question anyway, but no one was enthused to answer. (yes, mommie dearest!) ;)

While I'm going, this was filmed at the end of January, and I guess Kate was still pretending she doesn't have help. What are Kate's tips for raising multiples.....hmm.....1)beg/demand your community and state for unending help, 2)sell your kids to TLC to make millions and 3)have a houseful of nannies, cooks and bodyguards. Ok, that was nasty but I feel better!

Yeah, but do you have 8 and only a second to get them the water?

Honestly if it was me, I would have given the kid the water, but it wasn't, and I still don't think it was that big of a deal...

No I only have 3 children, but I'm sorry, as a mom, if one of my kids is asking for something as simple as H20, I'm not sitting there drinking the water, quenching my thirst, while my child sits there crying for water. Out of respect for my child, I would never do that.

Kate and kids were not out in the middle of the Kalahari desert. ;)
I think had she wanted to, she could have gotten water for the children. She certainly was able to ask for water for herself. :rolleyes1
That video certain spoke volumes to me. I actually wish I hadn't have seen it. So sad. I feel for those kids.:sad2:
Kate made it very clear she's the important one. I guess we all have priorities.:sad2::sad2:

I think Kate should have told the people filming, "can we have just a few seconds while all the kids have a sip of water"...explain to the kiddos that they need to be very quick and very quiet and they can have a sip of water from the bottle and then sit right back down. That way everyone from Kate to all 8 kiddos would be in a great mood for the interview. AND as far as spills, it is water...big deal if someone were to spill....its not like it was grape juice.

With my theory, there would be no video clip circulating around about Kate and her mean-ness. :thumbsup2

Do you know what she has been dealing with? Maybe John not being at home like he promised? Maybe Jon out in the evenings? Maybe Jon flirting? I don't remember her saying just what she was dealing with, but I assume some sort of marital *******. I certainly didn't get the feeling like you did, that she was perfectly happy to pretend for the sake of the show. If Jon hadn't been caught (if he was, but I know what you mean), perhaps, just like people in the other real life, she could continue to pretend all would be well.
I'm sorry, we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't happen to think that in January, they had a responsiblitlity to share with us that things were not going well. And she didn't need to..many picked of us up on it.

They are in a show about their family, and while they may make decisions differently than you and I, it's a show. I don't know that it's an image, but I do know it's a show and TLC lets us in on part of it. If it's an image, most here certainly haven't thought for a long time that it's an image of a perfect and happy family. Go back and read old threads.

It is either a reality show or it isn't. If you wouldn't (you anyone, not you you) share all your secrets, then if this is a reality show, they shouldn't have to share theirs. Maybe they thought they could work on it and all would work out. But again, I don't have a clue, because we have never gotten to see it all. We don't know if she hugs her kids a lot on the off times, or if she yells at them. We don't know if she shares in the cleaning and cooking, or if someone else is doing it all. We don't know if she does laundry. Nope, TLC lets us just see what they want us to see. J & K and Mady may be much nicer than we think, or even worse. We just aren't really a part of this family..it's only reality for what TLC wants us to see.

And yes, I feel sorry for them. I don't think this was what they set out to do. It's so easy for us to say, just end it, but we really don't know what that would entail.

exactly..which is why I don't get the major hoopla over this...:confused3

but then again, I don't think she overreacted at Disney either...:rolleyes1

I think the water thing made Kate look like selfish.

However I wasn't big on them asking the little girl if she liked her mommy or daddy better. That's just wrong in my opinion.

I thought she did ask about drinks for the kids in the video..sounded like there would not be time and I thought she said, but you will be getting them, or something like that..she mentioned cups. I assume they got drinks once they finished, since she asked for them. When Mady asked again she did ask for the water. I wonder if her mind was drifting. While I didn't think it was a big deal, I do think it didn't look good for her to take a drink and put it down.

If it wasn't this video, I"m sure there would have been another that showed her as a bad mother. I shouldn't admit this, but I'm pretty sure I was a bad mother the time my daughters were fighting and running through the house. One threw something at the other and it bounced off her, and back to the first one, and hit her arm., and her elbow hit the small porch window. I saw only the window, broken, with glass all over..her arm looked fine and so I sent them both up to their bedrooms (one of many times) to think over their transgressions. When I went upstairs to tell them time out was over, my daughter was cupping her elbow, as the blood dripped out. Guess it took awhile to start bleeding. Yep, I didn't win mother of the month that time (and there were a few other months I missed out too). If only we could all turn back the clock.

I think Kate should have told the people filming, "can we have just a few seconds while all the kids have a sip of water"...explain to the kiddos that they need to be very quick and very quiet and they can have a sip of water from the bottle and then sit right back down. That is such a horrible thing to ask a child. I have a friend who's DD loves me the most out of all her friends. I didn't ask for it, I don't bribe her with money/candy/etc, she just adores me and I adore her. Well.....Grown people have asked this CHILD "who do you like better, Me or Michelle?" I wasn't around when this was asked and the child said, "I like you both the same". Later on when talking to me, the child told me what was asked of them and said, "so and so asked me who I liked better, she said it like she was kidding, but I don't think she was, so I told her I liked you both the same, but I really like you better but I didn't want to hurt her feelings". Seriously why would you ask a kid that question?? :confused3

It's a stupid question to ask...

Oh..and OT-I just had a Facebook chat with DD18 who went to Disneyland Paris today. :goodvibes She said it "felt" like Disney and she had fun, but she misses her mommy. ;)
