That proves the point that she was NOT at the spa "ALL DAY".

I never said she was at the spa all day. I was just showing that she was gone for a large chunk of the day. You said it was "tabloid" reports,so I was just showing some proof. :cool2:

I trying to say I have no judgment that Kate is working outside of the house but I feel that she made Jon quite his job to stay home to help her and now she's the one who's not home. Get it? I'm really eloquent in my head. :lmao:

I agree with you. As 3PP said, they have said in numerous interviews and even TLC has said the show affords them the right to be SAHP.

I don't know about you, but I can't "Make" my husband do anything he doesn't want to do....

As I understood it Jon wanted to quit his job anyway? Maybe he just didn't realise how 'in demand' Kate would be with the books and speaking engagements, and once he was at home it was just harder than he thought it was. I remember him saying he couldn't stay at home with the kids the way Kate did.

I really hate when they show the eposided out of order. It really makes it hard to follow the show.

I don't see why some people on this thread give me a hard time because I don't believe anything out of tabloid some people on this thread act like tabloid are the gossips.:confused3

I tend to take anything out of a tabloid with a big pinch of salt!!! They do get it right sometimes, but a lot of the time they don't! They constantly say celebrity couples are on the brink of separating, and then they are occasionally proved right - but whether that is just a case of "say 'divorcing' about 100 couples long enough, in this day and age X% will eventually divorce", it's a bit of scattershot effect!

Exactly!....This discussion sometimes gets dangerously close to the whole SAHM/ working mom debate....and there is no right or wrong answer in that issue.
I myself am a SAHM but I would fight for the right for every woman to work outside the home if they want to...Sometimes I think this thread is going back to the dark ages.:rolleyes1
So Kate works "away"....So What!!!!.....So do many many mothers....it doesn't mean the kids are damaged.
Kate knows her time might not last...she is making the money whilst she can...in 5 or 10 years noone will remember who she was.

And my DH works away monday to friday.....So i suppose we better save up for the councilling the kids will need...(to whoever said that was wrong;))

And guess what.....He works away so we can all have a better life...A better lhouse...Disney trips..(we live in the uk so they cost a lot)...private schools for the kids....But thats OUR choice.....

But dh could get a lower paid job closer to home...we could live in a shack...never take the kids anywhere...no disney EVER....pull them out of the schools they love...and all live in cramped..rough area...happily together.
Well together after 7pm anyway;)...oh but I'd have to work as well...Oh well....yes I can see DH moving closer home to work would be so much better.:confused3

I agree with the points you made. I know plenty of parents (okay, mainly dads ;)) who travel frequently for business. Those families often have the other parent as a SAHP to make their family life manageable. Also, isn't the book tour a recent thing? It's not like she's been traveling extensively since the kids were born.
Perhaps Kate realizes that the show has a limited lifespan, and she's "trying to strike while the iron is hot", with writing 3 books, giving speeches, etc. This is a family of ten people. Whether they were able to afford having eight kids, it's a little too late to debate that now! The fact is they need to be supported. Jon was never a high wage earner, if I recall correctly, and Kate is a nurse. What do you all think their salaries would be at regular jobs like the rest of us have? Could they support ten people? I would think she is trying to build up a substantial financial cushion now. How many of us want to raise our kids at a bare subsistance level? Yes, of course there are many things more important than money, and money obviously can't buy happiness. I agree with those statements, yet I don't think it is wrong to "want" material things for our kids, and to raise our kids at a certain income level.
I've seen speculation from 25K to 75K an episode, and we really are not privy to what other financial arrangements they have (the books, endorsements, etc.) I really hope they have been wise financially and are able to step back at this point.

So she was a way a "chunk" of the day. Big deal. Do you keep your kids home from school on their birthday so you can spend every minute with them?

I agree.....My dh wasn't even home At ALL on DD's 9th birthday...He was away working..he spoke to her on the phone and was home for her party that weekend.;)....So at least Kate made it home for their birthday...not all working parents can...So good on you Kate!:thumbsup2

I think her point was that Kate had been gone for days before that and was finally home. What did she do at home before Mother's Day and the actual sextuplets b-day? Shopping and tanning. You'd think that if you were gone for days from your kids and their b-day was coming up, you'd be home more. Remember too that Kate was leaving again just 2 days later for yet another engagement.

So Kate works "away"....So What!!!!.....So do many many mothers....it doesn't mean the kids are damaged.
..

Kate & Jon quit their jobs to film the show .. so they could be home with their children. That's the reason they gave for quite a while.

I don't want to get into the debat of who should stay home and who should work. I worked when both of mine were babies and feel I am fortunate to stay home now.
Anway, people keep saying that it is wrong for Kate to travel and work and some people are taking it the other way and saying that their husbands travel and so should their kids be screwed up.
Anyway you want to justify Kate traveling is up to you but for me personally I think that there is a huge difference between a mother and father traveling. I know it is not PC to say, but there is a reason that men and women are different. There is a reason that we have the babies and the men don't and I am not talking about the pain. In most cases then not the mother is the more nurturing one. She is the one that the kids want when they are hurt or upset. Now I know that is not always the case but I think it is the majority.
The women needs to be home or at least cut her schedule in half for her kids. She had them, she wanted them, she needs to be there for them.

Flame away

I also think that there is a difference from working at a 9-5 job and coming home at night then being away for weeks at a time.

Are you sure? I thought that the party was on Mother's day? And what's wrong with a Mother going to the spa on MOTHER'S DAY?? Plus did I miss where it said she was at a spa on that day?

Kate had been traveling quite a bit up until Mother's Day/sextuplets birthday... that was the first day she'd been home for a while. Instead of spending the day at home, she used it as a tabloid photo op (IMO) and went to the tanning salon.

Now I certainly don't expect her to be at home all the day .. but it was Mother's Day, the children's birthday, and a Sunday. If I had been away from my family more often than not over the last several weeks, I could have waited a day to tan. Obviously Kate couldn't. LOL.

How do we know the kids were not taking a nap during that time? I mean, they do still sit in high chairs? :lmao:
I actually do agree with what you are saying.

PLEASE take this for what it's worth....I honestly have no way of confirming it but it's not familiar to me....

An Old Friend Of Jon’s (Not Kate’s) Speaks Up!
By Pete on May 28, 2009 in Career, Personal Stories

The year was 1995 (or maybe 1994. Those years were a blur to me) when I met my good friend Jon Gosselin at Denny’s, next to the Berkshire Mall!

He lived two blocks away, with his dad and brother Mark (who, by the way, has never made in into the show. I guess he didn’t fit into Kate’s mold of the “perfect” American Family, since he liked to get high with my brother Nick all the time) on State Hill Road in Wyomissing, PA, while I was up on Penn Ave.

I am sure most people read things with a skeptical eye these days (truly who knows what to actually believe), but I would urge caution in believing anything stated in the above quoted article.

I am a local resident (grew up in Wyomissing and attended middle school there, but I am almost 10 years older than Jon) and I still live in the general area. The places quoted above do exist, but the particulars do not ring true for several reasons.

The most blatant issue is that if you lived on State Hill Road in Wyomissing(and really hard to actually live on that road since it is almost entirely businesses...maybe two houses in several miles of road?), you would actually not attend the Wyomissing school district (complicated districting lines in that area). What that article states does not match known biographical facts.

I don't feel that Kate working has anything to do with the money anymore. I think that Kate actually likes to work. I mean, there are some people who do like to work and Kate's behavior seems to be an indication that she likes to. A lot of moms' do work and travel a lot, some of them like that but does that make them bad moms?

very good point!

How do we know the kids were not taking a nap during that time? I mean, they do still sit in high chairs? :lmao:
I actually do agree with what you are saying.

Kate did threaten them with a nap on the party episode ... LOL

Heck, I think I'd be the one taking a nap after all that travel! :lmao:

I noticed this on Little People, Big World. The whole season was out of sequence.

It surprises me how people are speaking now, vs. when the show started, even even last Fall, many of us were questioning, why neighbors, families, parents, were not making any statements. Just Jody's sister, and she almost got crucified, sorry for the religious statement. Many of us thought, Kate had some kind of confidentiality gags on everyone.

I get what you are saying about homes on a Business road, but in my town, our Main Street is non-existant. 10 years ago, we had 10 businesses. All the businesses, either left, or relocated to the outskirts of town. Is this maybe what happened in your city?
